  • Cognitive Radio (CR) has been recently proposed as a promising technology to remedy the problems of spectrum scarcity and spectrum underutilization by enabling unlicensed users to opportunistically utilize temporally unused licensed spectrums in a cautious manner. In Cognitive Radio Ad Hoc Networks (CRAHNs), data routing is one of the most challenging tasks since the channel availability and node mobility are unpredictable. Moreover, the network performance is severely degraded due to large numbers of path failures. In this paper, we propose the Fault-Tolerant Cognitive Ad-hoc Routing Protocol (FTCARP) to provide fast and efficient route recovery in presence of path failures during data delivery in CRAHNs. The protocol exploits the joint path and spectrum diversity to offer reliable communication and efficient spectrum usage over the networks. In the proposed protocol, a backup path is utilized in case a failure occurs over a primary transmission route. Different cause of a path failure will be handled by different route recovery mechanism. The protocol performance is compared with that of the Dual Diversity Cognitive Ad-hoc Routing Protocol (D2CARP). The simulation results obviously prove that FTCARP outperforms D2CARP in terms of throughput, packet loss, end-to-end delay and jitter in the high path-failure rate CRAHNs.

  • In Mobile Ad-hoc Network, link failure and packet loss may occur frequently due to its nature of mobility and limited battery life. In this paper, an enhanced robust routing protocol based on AODV(Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector routing) by monitoring variation of receiving signal strength is proposed. New metric function that consists of node mobility and hops of path is used for routing decision. For preventing route failure by node movement during data transmission, a new route maintenance is presented. If the node movement is detected, the routing agent switches local path to its neighbor node. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed routing scheme is superior to previous AODV protocol.

  • A mobile ad-hoc network routing protocols for transmission of multimedia contents need to have low delay time and to maintain the established route because it should secure quality of service(QoS) of the network. In this paper, the proposed protocol, termed HODMRP (History-based On-Demand Multicast Routing Protocol), is enhanced On-Demand Multicast Routing Protocol (ODMRP) by adding the criterion which is the session history for establishing route. The characteristic of this protocol is that data can be transmitted using the redundant route which is already selected by session history, if it occurs that the route is broken, HODMRP have better Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) value and lower delay time than ODMRP by the simulation results.

  • Routing security is the confidentiality of route taken by the data transmitted over communication networks. If the route is detected by an adversary, the probability is high that the data lost or the data can be intercepted by the adversary. Therefore, the route must be protected. To accomplish this, we select an intermediate node secretly and transmit the data using this intermediate node, instead of sending the data to a destination node using the shortest direct path. Furthermore, if we use a number of secret routes from a node to a destination node, data security is much stronger since we can transmit partial data rather than entire data along a secret route. Finally, the idea above is implemented on MRNS Network.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the descriptions of the transmission of plague along the Silk Road in Orhan Pamuk's 2022 novel Nights of Plague. Pamuk won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2006, the first prize for Turkish literature. Pamuk's vast knowledge of epidemiological history, which has long fascinated him, comes to life in this novel as he describes the characters' battles against the plague in the East and West and how the plague was brought to the islands and spread along the Maritime Silk Road. One of the most important trade routes in human history, the Silk Road was not only a link between East and West trade and cultures but also a route for the transmission of bubonic plague during the medieval period onwards. It was this epidemic that contributed to the decline of the Silk Road. In the novel, a plague originating in China strikes the Ottoman coastal cities of Smyrna and Mingheria on its way to Europe via India. The epidemic is contained in Smyrna but the death toll spirals out of control when the plague reaches the island of Mingheria by sea. The spatial setting of the novel is an island, which means that it communicates with the outside world by sea. The only way the plague could have spread to an isolated island was by ship. Rats from different ports and ships would have traveled to other parts of the world or even countries to spread the plague. In Nights of Plague, the fact that the plague reached Mingheria via the maritime Silk Road is also proven by the route of the ships and various narratives. The novel confirms what many scholars have argued, that the Silk Road brought various goods from the East to the Roman Empire, along with deadly diseases, and that the sea routes were an important way for the plague to travel and spread.

  • Recently, multimedia data transmission becomes important issues in the wireless sensor network. For the multimedia data transmission in wireless sensor network, QoS (Quality of service) is an important factor to determine the system performance. AODV algorithm is one of the widely used algorithm for wireless ad-hoc environment. In AODV, the destination node selects the route with the smallest hop count. Since AODV only considers the hop count, the selected route could have low channel condition, and degrade QoS. In this paper, we propose a modified AODV algorithm that considers the successful transmission rate of each link. The proposed algorithm regards the number of retransmission which can be obtained from the successful transmission rate as the hop count, and applies the modified hop count to AODV. The advantage of the proposed algorithm is that the modified AODV can support QoS without significant change of the conventional algorithm.

  • When 345 kV transmission lines began to be operated in 1976,electrostatic shocks were problems due to high electric field. By reducing the electirc field below 3.5 kV/m, the problems were solved. But recently a transmission line route.is proposed, nearby people strongly object to build the line worrying abour the effect of magnetic field, even though they do not really know the megnetic effect. Some environmentalists insists to reduce to reduce the magnetis field to a few mG near the transmission line. So we have studied the mitigation method to reduce magnetic field by two conductor passive loop.

  • Prepare a lose of 765kV transmission route in power system operation condition, there are some Special Protection Scheme(SPS)s in Korean power system. These SPS can make some preselected generators are tripped to avoid generator overspeed. Because of many of the new large power plants are installed to existing power generation sites due to the siting problem, the number of generator tripped by SPS should be increased. But that can be a cause of system frequency change under the Under Frequency Relay(UFR) 1st pickup level 59.0Hz. Therefore generation constraint should be considered until new transmission lines are installed. In this paper, we propose the ESS application for generation constraint mitigation by frequency damping control of ESS. To analysis an effect of ESS application, we use PSS/E dynamic simulation tool, CBEST model and controller model. The proposed ESS application is applied to the empirical Korean power system.

  • NEMO Basic Support Protocol standardized in IETF provides the seamless communication environment to all nodes within the mobile network regardless of the network movement while the network is moving. According to the standard, when the mobile network moves outside of its home network the network can make use of the binding update message or dynamic routing protocol in order to register the mobility information into the Home Agent(HA). But because these two methods don't consider the route optimization, all packets destined to Mobile Network Nodes(MNNs) attached into the Mobile Router(MR) have to go through HAs of MRs so that they bring on the transmission delay and the waste of the bandwidth. This situation is to be worse and causes the packet fragmentation problem if MRs within the mobile network are nested. Even though there have been some researches about the route optimization to recover the problems, they have problems in the packet transmission performance side. In this paper, we propose a new scheme to improve the network performance by using a dynamic routing protocol and minimizing the number of HAs on the end-to-end path. Various performance evaluations show that the proposed mechanism gives better performance in view of the packet transmission compared to the existing schemes.
