ARM: Anticipated Route Maintenance Scheme in Location-Aided Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

  • Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are composed of moving wireless hosts which, within range of each other, form wireless networks. For communication to occur between hosts that are not within each other's range, routes involving intermediate nodes must be established; however, since the hosts may be in motion, a host that was part of a route may move away from its upstream and downstream partners, thus breaking the route. In this paper, we propose anticipated route maintenance (ARM) protocol with two extensions to route discovery based routing scheme: Extend the route when nodes on a link move apart from each other and they have common neighbor that can be 'inserted' in the path, and shrink route when a node discovers that one of its neighbor which is not the next hop is also on the same route several hops later on. By utilizing only local geographic information (now a part of some route finding algorithms), a host can anticipate its neighbor's departure and, if other hosts are available, choose a host to bridge the gap, keeping the path connected. We present a distributed algorithm that anticipates route failure and performs preventative route maintenance using location information to increase a route lifespan. The benefits are that this reduces the need to find new routes (which is very expensive) and prevents interruptions in service. As the density of nodes increases, the chance to successfully utilize our route maintenance approach increases, and so does the savings. We have compared the performance of two protocols, pure dynamic source routing (DSR) protocol and DSR with ARM. The simulation results show how ARM improves the functionality of DSR by preventing the links in the route from breaking. Packets delivery ratio could be increased using ARM and achieved approximately $\100%$ improvement. The simulations clarify also how ARM shows a noticeable improvement in dropped packets and links stability over DSR, even though there is more traffic and channel overhead in ARM.

  • Even though the existing train route controlling method, using track circuits, ensures the sufficient number of operation, it still has problems such as discordance between train numbers which was planned for operating and train numbers being operated on the track, and allowing only one train entering for one route. To solve those problems, we study and develop the Smart train route controlling system which uses the real-time informations of train positions. This system enables improve the coefficient of utilization in a certain train route controlling section, and the safety level of train route controlling, but we should ensure satisfying reliability of data about tracks operated by trains. In addition, there is a need to protect accidents caused by erroneous information of train position, by reflecting changes of tracks, for example maintenance, improvement, expansion of tracks. In this paper, we describes data structure of a developed program which required to change CAD files to wiring diagrams and to generate them to data of tracks. And we show the result that the simulator, using the data structure, controls speed and route of trains without problems.

서포트 벡터 머신을 이용한 완도 인근해역 추천항로 개선안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Recommended Route in the Vicinity of Wando Island using Support Vector Machine)

  • 항로 설정은 통항 선박들의 안전을 위해 교통 흐름을 반영할 필요가 있으며, 선박들이 항로를 잘 준수하는지 지속적인 경과 분석이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 완도항 인근해역 추천항로의 문제점을 도출하고 이에 대한 개선안을 제시하였다. 효율적인 항로 중앙선을 설정하기 위해 선박 항적을 기반으로 서포트 벡터 머신을 이용하였다. 추천항로 중앙선을 기준으로 우측으로 항해해야 하므로 통항 선박들의 항적이 2개의 군집으로 분할된다. 서포트 벡터 머신은 패턴 인식 등 많은 분야에서 이용되고 있으며, 특히 이진 분류 기능이 뛰어나다. 연구 결과 장죽수도 방향의 2.4 NM 추천항로 구간에서 동진하는 상선은 약 79.5%가 추천항로를 준수하지 않는 것으로 나타나 선박 충돌 사고 위험이 상존하는 것을 확인하였다. 추천항로를 현 위치에서 북쪽으로 약 300 m 재설정할 경우, 동진하는 상선은 항로를 역주행할 비율이 79.5%에서 30.9%로 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 적용한 서포트 벡터 머신은 선박 항적을 두 군집으로 분류가 가능하므로 항로 중앙선을 효과적으로 설정하는데 응용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Fast Mobile IPv6에서 Route Optimization 성능 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study on Performance Improvement of Route Optimization in Fast Mobile IPv6)

  • Mobile IPv6(MIPv6)에서 핸드오버가 수행된 후에 Mobile Node(MN)와 Correspondent node(CN)간에 직접 통신하기 위해 RO(Route Optimization)이 수반되어야 하며 이를 위해서는 Binding Update(BU)전에 Return Routability(RR) 과정이 수행되어야 한다. Fast Handover for Mobile IPv6(FMIPv6)에서도 RO를 사용하기 위해서는 MIPv6와 동일하게 Fast 핸드오버 후에 BU전에 RR 과정이 수행되어야 한다. 그러나 RR 과정을 수행하는데 소요되는 시간이 매우 길기 때문에 핸드오버에 많은 지연을 발생하게 한다. 따라서 본 논문은 FMIPv6에서 RO지연을 감소시킴으로써 FMIPv6에서 핸드오버 지연을 감소시키기 위한 방안을 제안한다.

Intelligent Route Construction Algorithm for Solving Traveling Salesman Problem

  • The traveling salesman problem (TSP) is one of the well-known and extensively studied NPC problems in combinatorial optimization. To solve it effectively and efficiently, various optimization algorithms have been developed by scientists and researchers. However, most optimization algorithms are designed based on the concept of improving route in the iterative improvement process so that the optimal solution can be finally found. In contrast, there have been relatively few algorithms to find the optimal solution using route construction mechanism. In this paper, we propose a route construction optimization algorithm to solve the symmetric TSP with the help of ratio value. The proposed algorithm starts with a set of sub-routes consisting of three cities, and then each good sub-route is enhanced step by step on both ends until feasible routes are formed. Before each subsequent expansion, a ratio value is adopted such that the good routes are retained. The experiments are conducted on a collection of benchmark symmetric TSP datasets to evaluate the algorithm. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm produces the best-known optimal results in some cases, and performs better than some other route construction optimization algorithms in many symmetric TSP datasets.

부도수도 항로 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of the Channel of Pudo-Sudo in Chinhae Man)

  • This study aims at improving the channel of Pudo-sudo in Chinhae-Man according to the development project of the port of Masan, by investigating the design criteria of harbour facilities for the maximum sized ship. The new deep-water route was proposed and according to it the present separation scheme was adjusted appropriately. The width of the deep-water route is suggested to be 350m and would be wide enough for the 30,000 DWT container ship to go through However, the proposed channel will be tested and validated by the shiphandling simulator.

울산항 접근 수역의 해상교통시스템 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Marine Traffic System in the Ulsan Approaching Waters)

  • Marine traffics near Ulsan approaching waters are crossing and converged at the diverging point of No.1 route- No.2 route and No.1 route -No.3 route and are also concentrated at near No1. route approaching area and the headland of cape Gawnjeol. Because the number of berth will increase to 78 from 49 until 2011 due to additional developments, minor modification is expected for the water utilities. This study examined environmental conditions, marine accidental data, marine traffic capacity, traffic flow survery and fisheries zone status near Ulsan approaching water area. Finally, a questionaire survey was carried ou for experts and users to propose new plan.

낙도보조항로의 운영실태 및 발달과정 고찰 (A Study on Current Operating System and Development Process of Remote Island Public Service Route)

  • 이 연구에서는 낙도보조항로의 운영실태와 발달과정에 대하여 정리하였다. 낙도보조항로는 14개 사업자가 27개 항로에서 총 30척 선박으로 낙도주민을 위한 안정적인 생활교통편의를 제공하고 있다. 항로별 수송실적을 분석한 결과, 전체적으로 이들 항로를 이용하는 여객 수도 매년 증가하는 추세에 있다. 선박 이용자의 서비스 만족도를 향상시키려고 한다면 운영사업체별로 경영평가제를 도입하는 등 보다 구조적인 변화가 요구된다. 본 연구를 통하여 얻어진 결과들은 낙도보조항로 중장기 발전방향 수립에 기초 자료로 활용하는 데 그 의미가 있다.

  • The improvement of the situation on the Korean Peninsula, following the June 2000 Summit, has opened up the possibility of reconstructing the railway between the North and the South. The interconnection of the railway systems would allow cargo transportation from the south of the Korean Peninsula to Russia, China and Europe. This could open up a faster and more economical cargo transportation route than the all-water route.(omitted)
