  • There are two types of expensive measuring instruments currently on the market shape measurement and roundness measurement instruments. As they are very expensive, from tens of millions to more than 200 million won, buying them is economically burdensome for small companies or individuals. Therefore, in order to integrate the shape and roundness measurements into a single transfer device, this study aimed to reduce the trial and error by 3D modeling and simulation, and we confirmed the feasibility of operation. Based on these outcomes, a prototype hybrid measuring instrument was fabricated. As a result of performance evaluation and comparative evaluation, we verified the feasibility of implementation and application of the hybrid measuring instrument.

  • This paper presents the measurement process of the rotational accuracy and the comparison with the theoretical results in the main bearing of scroll compressor. The main bearing is cylindrical oil proceeding bearing, but there are straightly cut used for oil supply. Therefore the roundness error is not a negligible quantity compared with the rotational accuracy. For this reason, three-point method is used in the experiment. The result of three-point method coincides with the theoretical value. So if the theory in this paper is used to the bearing design of scroll compressor, the efforts for testing and designing can be reduced.

  • The probe with a 110mm diameter is originated and fabricated to measure hole accuracies of extremely deepholes. It consists of a measuring unit, an actuator unit, an active rotation stopper and a feed unit. The rolling of the probe is restricted and adjusted by the active rotation stopper. The probe is fed by the feed unit. In this measurement, accuracies are measured by using a rolling proof apparatus and machine table of deep hole boring machine instead of the stopper and the feed unit, respectively. Straightness, roundness and a diameter of a 110-mm hole are measured by the probe and testers made for each measuring purpose ...

  • According to many customers' requests, optical measurement module (OMM) applications using automatic measuring devices to measure the machined part rapidly on a machine tool have increased steeply. Touch trigger probes are being used for job setup and feature inspection as automatic measuring devices, and this makes quality checking and machining compensation possible. Therefore, in this study, the use of touch trigger probes for accurate measurement of the machined part has been studied and a macro program for a hole measuring cycle has been developed. This hole is the most common feature to be measured, but conventional methods are still not free from measuring error. In addition, the eccentricity change of the least square circle was simulated according to the roundness error in a hole measurement. To evaluate the reliability of this study, the developed hole-measuring program was executed to measure the hole plate on the machine and verify the roundness error in the eccentricity simulation result.

  • In this study, NIMAX material has been processed using the three-dimensional measuring instrument and white light interferometer. they were tested to roundness and surface roughness and results are as follows: As for a cutting characteristic, it indicated that F4 showed a lower result than 2F showed due to the high hardness of the material and showed a good result when spindle rotation speed and tool feed were low. As for the measurement of roundness through 3-Dimensional measuring machine, it indicated that 4F showed a good result like the condition of cutting component and that roundness showed a good result when spindle rotation speed of 1,700 rpm and tool feed speed of 85 mm/min were applied. As for the surface roughness of processing surface, Surface roughness showed better 4F than 2F and conditions of spindle rotation speed 1,700 rpm, tool feed rate 55 mm/min showed good results in the Ra $0.4025{\mu}m$.

  • Cylindrical plunge grinding is widely used for final machining process of precision parts such as automobile, aircraft, measurement units. But in order to make parts which have high precision accuracy and high surface integrity, it is necessary to consider grinding characteristics due to accumulation phenomena of grinding wheel in plunge grinding process. In this study, in order to examine closely plunge grinding process, grinding power, grinding force, real depth of cut are monitored in transient state, steady state and spark out state. As the result, it is shown that grinding power and force are affected by dressing condition, depth of cut and speed ratio and that there exist threshold grinding force and it also affected by dressing condition. Also considered effects of grinding conditions on surface roughness and roundness of workpiece

  • The sending characteristics of the non-contact type displacement transducers can affect the performances of the magnetic bearing systems when they support the rotating shaft. The probe type displacement sensor detects not only the displacement of the rotor at the sensing position but also the surface irregularitis of the rotor such as surface roughnessand roundness errors. If there exist such measuring errors, the magnetic bearing can not apply proper force against the rotor displacements for the detected signal is the input to the magnetic bearing controllers. The cylindrical shape capacitive transducer can detect the rotor displacement by the integral sum of the charges which are formed between the sensor plates and rotor so that it can reduce the detecting errors induced by the surface irregularities of the rotor. By theore- tical analysis, we compared the sensing characteristics of the cylindrical shape capacitive transducers for the rotors that have some sinusoidal irregularities with that of the ideal probe type displacement transducers.

  • Moire principles are applied to the measurement of the spindle radial error motion. As opposed to conventional techniques, no master cylinder or ball is needed in the measurement so that the offset and out-of-roundness errors of the master can be inherently eliminated. Two periodic circular gratings are used, one is made on the spindle and the other is held stationary on the reference frame. When the two gratings are seen superimposed during spindle rotation, an interference fringe pattern is observed from which the information on the eccentricity between the two gratings can be extracted with high precision. The optical design and fringe analysis techniques of a prototype measurement system are described in detail with exemplary measurement results.

  • In order to satisfy the industrial requirements to measure the rotational error motion of main spindles and to find out the source of the error motion, some measuring systems were made. Their measuring principle are based on the 3-point roundness measurement. In these measuring systems, the measurements are processed by digital calculation technique and the form error and the rotational error motion of main spindles are spearated. In the present paper, the principle of 3-point metnod is introduced and some application examples are shown.
