  • A series of papers in recent literature on logical topology design for wavelength routed optical networks have proposed mathematical models and solution methods unifying logical topology design wavelength assignment and traffic routing. The most recent one is by Krishnaswamy and Sivarajan which is more unifying and complete than the previous models. Especially the mathematical formulation is an integer linear program and hence regarded in readiness for an efficient solution method compared to the previous nonlinear programming models. The solution method in [7] is however elementary one relying on the rounding of linear program relaxation. When the rounding happens to be successful it tends to produce near-optimal solutions. In general there is no such guarantee so that the obtained solution may not satisfy the essential constraints such as logical -path hop-count and even wavelength number constraints. Also the computational efforts for linear program relaxation seems to be too excessive. In this paper we propose an improved and unifying solution method based on the same to be too excessive. In this paper we propose an improved and unifying solution method based on the same model. First its computation is considerably smaller. Second it guarantees the solution satisfies all the constraints. Finally applied the same instances the quality of solution is fairly competitive to the previous near optimal solution.

  • Generally, the buckling of thin-walled structures has studied for rectangular sections or circular sections. Rectangular sections have small stiffness and circular sections have large stiffness when they are compared with rectangular sections for local buckling. But both of them have similar stiffness to column buckling. Therefore in this paper, we are going to analyze the local buckling for the box section with rounded comer and compare with rectangular section. Also we confirm that the rounded comer section has larger local buckling strength than rectangular section.

  • This paper deals with a design to improve operating characteristic of spoke type BLDC motor. The rotor and stator is redesigned as rounding teeth of stator and pole surface of rotor. Result, cogging torque is reduced greatly. The Finite Element Analysis(FEM) is used to characteristics. The Prototype has been manufacturing to confirmed the validity of the proposed technique.

  • This paper presents possibilities of a numerical hull form representation in the form of curve designs, which require a variety of form variations. The numerical representation method of the hull form is developed using NURBS curve with sufficient continuity and local variation.

  • We investigate some techniques of iterative refinement of solutions of a nonsingular system Ax = b with A partitioned into blocks using only single precision arithmetic. We prove that iterative refinement improves a blockwise measure of backward stability. Some applications of the results for the least squares problem (LS) will be also considered.

  • This paper studies the computer programming of statistical methods. A few computer programs are developed for * computing the basic statistics and the coefficients of process capability for raw and grouped data * drawing the frequency table and histogram * goodness of fit testing for normality with the analyses for stratifications if necessary. A special emphasis is laid on the significant digits and rounding-off for the output. A running result appears in the Appendix for a hypothetical example.

  • A problem of approximation by irrational splines is considered. These splines have a constant curvature between interpolation nodes and need only one additional boundary condition for derivatives, which should be set only at one of two boundary nodes, that is impossible for usual polynomial splines required boundary conditions at both boundary nodal points. Some estimations for numerical differentiation and rounding error analysis are presented.

  • 본 논문에서는 현재 MPEG, JPEG 압축 알고리즘에서 쓰이는 DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform)기반의 손실 영상 압축에 사용되는 양자화(Quantization) 처리에 필요한 나눗셈 연산기를 제안한다. 영상 데이터 처리를 위한 양자화기(Quantizer)는 DCT로부터 매 사이클마다 영상 데이터를 입력 받아 양자화 처리를 해야하며 보다 나은 영상 데이터를 위해 최종 나눗셈 결과 즉, 몫을 소수 첫째자리에서 반올림(Rounding)해야 한다. 이를 위해 반올림 동작이 추가된 Pipelined Nonrestoring Array Divider를 설계하였다. 제안된 방법의 타당성을 검증하기 위해 DCT로부터 나온 영상 데이터를 제안된 구조의 양자화기로 양자화하여 일반 양자화기에서 나온 압축된 데이터와 비교해 보았다. 또한 합성기(Synthesis)를 통하여 실제 하드웨어 크기를 분석하였다.

  • We manufactured double pancake type windings with BSCCO wire for 1MVA HTS transformer. To verify cracks of HTS wire and performance of manufactured windings, the transportation current was measured. In this paper, we present result of the transportation current test as a DC current and compare a drop of current performance of HTS wire due to tension and rounding during the manufacturing with technical data. We obtained good results and this will be useful for another manufacturing of HTS winding
