  • The Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, as a representative organization of Korea, in February 2012 participated in an international Program to Assess the Reliability of Emerging Nondestructive Techniques initiated by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The goal of the Program to Assess the Reliability of Emerging Nondestructive Techniques is to investigate the performance of emerging and prospective novel nondestructive techniques to find flaws in nickel-alloy welds and base materials. In this article, Korean round-robin test results were evaluated with respect to the test blocks and various nondestructive examination techniques. The test blocks were prepared to simulate large-bore dissimilar metal welds, small-bore dissimilar metal welds, and bottom-mounted instrumentation penetration welds in nuclear power plants. Also, lessons learned from the Korean round-robin test were summarized and discussed.

  • As the result of the study shows, Round Robin Algorithm allows servers to ensure definite traffic distribution, unless incoming data loads differ much. Although error levels are high in some cases, they were eventually alleviated by repeated tests for a long period of time. The study uses two software packages (Packet Capture and Round Robin Test Package) to check packet volume from Virtual Network Structure (data generator, virtual server, Server 1, 2, 3), and finds out traffic distribution toward Server 1, 2, and 3. The functions of implemented Round Robin Load Balancing Monitoring System include round robin testing, system monitoring, and graphical indication of data transmission and packet volume.

  • This paper provides simulational round robin test results for welding residual stress prediction of safety/relief nozzle. To quantify the welding variables and define the recommendation for prediction and determination of welding residual stress, 6 partners in 5 institutes participated in round robin test. It is concluded that compressive axial and hoop residual stress occurs in dissimilar metal weld and pre-existing residual stress distribution in dissimilar metal weld was affected by similar metal weld due to short length of safe end. Although the reason for the deviation among the results was not pursued further, the effect of several key elements of FE analyses on welding residual stress was investigated in this paper.

  • In this paper, results of simulational round robin test on residual stress prediction was provided. Welding residual stress is one of the reasons for primary water stress corrosion cracking in PWR. Therefore, quantifying the welding variables and defining the recommendation for prediction welding residual stress is important.   • A proficiency test is one of programs which Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science(KRISS), as national metrology institute, is putting in operation for the mutual recognition arrangement. The Fluid Flow Group of KRISS evaluated the measurement capability for liquid flowmeter calibrator of the national calibration and test organizations. The uncertainty of national standard system was estimated in accordance with Guide to The Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (ISO), and the turbine flowmeter, which was used for the round-robin test as a reference flowmeter, was characterized. The round-robin tests with the turbine flowmeter package were carried out in 1995 and 1999. The test results of the organizations and those of KRISS agreed within $\pm0.2$%. It is found thus that the organizations have the traceability of the national standard for liquid flow measurement.

  • 국내 원자력발전소의 Class1과 Class2 배관검사에 적용할 수 있는 초음파탐상 검사자, 장비 그리고 절차서에 대한 한국형 기량검증(KPD) 시스템을 구축하였다. PD 방법을 적용한 검사결과와 전통적인 dB-drop 방법을 이용한 검사결과를 상호 비교하기 위하여 Round Robin Test(RRT)를 수행하였다. RRT 결과는 PD 방법의 신뢰성이 dB Drop 방법보다 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과로부터 원자력발전소 가동중검사에 PD 방법을 적용함으로써 초음파탐상검사 결과의 신뢰성이 더욱 향상될 것으로 기대된다.

  • 지반의 전단파 속도 주상도를 도출하는데 있어 다운홀 기법은 하나의 시추공을 이용하고 간단한 지표면 가진원을 사용하므로 매우 경제적이다. 따라서 학교와 현업에서 지반조사 및 연구 목적으로 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 올바르지 못한 장비의 구성과 해석과정으로 인하여 결과의 신뢰성에 문제가 있어왔다. 본 연구에서는 다운홀 기법의 상호검증시험(Round Robin Test)을 통해 참여 기관에 대해서 각각의 실험 장비와 결과 해석 과정에 대해 비교함으로써 문제점에 대해 분석하였으며 이를 바탕으로 최적의 수행 시스템을 구성하였다. 효율적인 가진원을 제작하고 적절한 감지기를 도입 혹은 제작하였으며 노트북 기반의 신호 획득 시스템을 구축하였다. 신호 획득 및 관리 프로그램, 결과도출 프로그램을 통해 현장에서 효율적으로 실험을 진행하고 신뢰성 있는 최종 결과를 신속하게 도출할 수 있도록 하였다. 구성된 수행 시스템을 이용하여 현장 적용 실험을 수행하였으며 그 효율성을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Free field ground motion during earthquake is significantly affected by the local soil conditions and it is essential for the seismic design to perform the site specific ground response analysis. So, Round Robin Test (RRT) on ground response analysis was performed for three sites in Korea. A total of 12 teams presented the results of ground response analysis with used input soil properties based on own judgement. In this paper, the results of one dimensional equivalent linear analysis presented by 11 teams were compared to evaluate the effect of input soil properties on ground response analysis. Additionally, 4 influence factors on ground response analysis, that is shear wave velocity of soil layer, nonlinear dynamic deformational characteristics, bedrock depth and bedrock velocity were studied for assumed simple soil conditions.
