Fuzzy Logic Speed Control Stability Improvement of Lightweight Electric Vehicle Drive

  • To be satisfied with complex load condition of electric vehicle, fuzzy logic control (FLC) is applied to improve speed response and system robust performance of induction traction machine based on indirect rotor field orientation control. The proposed propulsion system consists of two induction motors (IM) that ensure the drive of the two back driving wheels of lightweight electric vehicle by means the vehicle used for passenger transportation. The electronic differential system ensures the robust control of the vehicle behavior on the road. It also allows controlling, independently, every driving wheel to turn at different speeds in any curve. Our electric vehicle fuzzy inference system control's simulated in Matlab SIMULINK environment, the results obtained present the efficiency and the robustness of the proposed control with good performances compared with the traditional PI speed control, the FLC induction traction machine presents not only good steady characteristic, but with no overshoot too.

  • This paper presents a torque ripple reduction algorithm for the switched reluctance motor drives using the fuzzy logic and the sliding mode control. A turn-on angle controller based on the fuzzy logic determines the optimal turn-on angle. In addition, a sliding mode torque control (SMTC) methods reduces torque ripples instantaneously in the commutation region. The proposed algorithm does not require complex system models considering nonlinear magnetizing or demagnetizing periods of the phase current. According to the rotor speed and torque, the proposed controller changes the turn-on angle and reference torque instantaneously until the torque ripples are minimized. The simulation and experimental results verify the validity of minimizing the torque ripple performance.

  • The small wind turbines has the merits of setting up with low costs by individuals, and get the energy saving effects that, it has the secured, separate markets from the big range systems, and the developing of it is continuously proceeding. The objective of this paper is to provide the design characteristics analysis of a permanent magnet synchronous generator(PMSG) skewed for magnet of rotor, the main advantage to be explored with the use of a split core design is the reduction in manufacturing costs and its simplicity in manufacture, compared to the manufacturing costs of a core skew PM machine. This thesis is aiming mainly analyzing the characteristics of the prototype to verify through Finite Element Method(FEM) and tests.

  • Transmission is a core component of helicopter to transmit power from engine to rotor and must have a endurance to be able to show satisfactorily its performance required during its life time. When developing a new helicopter, both military and civil airworthiness authorities require a tie-down test to verify its endurance. Procedure for transmission endurance test is described in FAR part 29 or US military specification but its details are more or less ambiguous. In this paper, we have proposed a proper procedure for transmission endurance test by giving KUH transmission endurance test example including determination of applicable torque, load and test profile.

  • In this paper, a novel method of sensorless control scheme is proposed to apply on a single phase hybrid SRM used in high speed operation. The proposed method utilizes beneficially permanent magnet field whose performance is motor parameter independent to estimate the rotor position. Also, the current slope is adopted to complete the sensorless control when the motor running with heavy torque at high speed condition. Through this approach, the adjustable turn on/off position can be achieved without prior knowledge of inductance profile which is always employed by many sensorless schemes. And this paper may offer an available method to do the sensorless control in hybrid SRM used for high speed running.

  • A design method of three phase induction motors that have characteristics of low starting current and high starting torque is proposed. This design method is based on the traditional theory related to the skin effect and the gap saturation effect. The starting performances and the analysis method are explained in short. Finally, comparison of example design data on electric hoist motor with standard motor is shown.

  • This paper presents Fuzzy-Neuro PI controller of IPMSM drive using fuzzy and neural-network. In general, PI controller in computer numerically controlled machine process fixed gain. To increase the robustness, fixed gain PI controller, Fuzzy-Neuro PI controller proposes a new method based fuzzy and neural-network. Fuzzy-Neuro PI controller is developed to minimize overshoot and settling time following sudden parameter changes such as speed, load torque, inertia, rotor resistance and self inductance. The results on a speed controller of IPMSM are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed gain tuner.

  • This Paper presents a solution to control the Brushless DC Motor(BLDCM) in Digital Lightening Processor(DLP) using the Linear Quadratic Regulator(LQR). Generally, The speed of BLDCM in DLP is controlled by the lead angle control or the input voltage control using PAM(Pulse Amplitude Modulation) etc. These control methods have speed overshoot in speed control and need the long time until BLDCM reaches at the steady state. In order to improve the performance, this paper present the PI speed controller using the LQR based on vector control and the rotor position detection methods at the space vector PWM inverter. The proposed methods are proved by the experimental results

  • ADD has developed a special BLDCM(brushless d.c. motor) that has small size and high power density. The model of BLDCM is like that of advanced nation. Design, production and test carried out with ADD and HICO. Now the performance of BLDCM is achieved 65% of design data. Also we are concerned with adhesion of magnet in rotor for high speed.

  • This paper proposes a speed sensorless vector control of induction motor using a minimum-order EKF(extended kalman filter). Minimum-order EKF has the advantage of reducing the computational estimation cost because the stator current is not estimated. EKF does not deteriorate the performance of the overall speed control system, even though the measurements are relatively noisy. The estimated rotor speed is used for vector control and overall speed control. Computer simulations of the speed sensorless vector control are carried out to test the usefulness of the minimum-order EKF algorithm.
