This study is to find ways to self-produce energy even in buildings through the system of trees that grow by themselves focused on literatures and case studies. It is divided into the structure, circulation and reaction system of tree. 1) In the structural system, the tree is divided into the shoot and root system, and maintains rigidity with the cell membranes. The wind resistance caused by the trunk and crown can be applied to the seismic structure principle of building, and the role of platelike buttresses of lateral roots can be applied to the horizontal truss and suspension bridge. 2) In the circulation system, the transpiration action through the fine stomata of the leaves can be a very effective cooling means because a large amount of heat is released and this method can be directly introduced into the cooling of buildings. 3) In the responsive system, the response system according to environmental changes that can be read from the leaves and flowers of trees can be applied to the roof and exterior design of buildings through the use of new sensing technologies and materials.
Background and objective: Urban street trees play an important role in carbon reduction in cities where greenspace is scarce. There are ongoing studies on carbon reduction by street trees. However, information on the carbon reduction capacity of street trees based on field surveys is still limited. This study aimed to quantify carbon uptake and storage by urban street trees and suggest a method to improve planting of trees in order to increase their carbon reduction capacity. Methods: The cities selected were Sejong, Chungju, and Jeonju among cities without research on carbon reduction, considering the regional distribution in Korea. In the cities, 155 sample sites were selected using systematic sampling to conduct a field survey on street environments and planting structures. The surveyed data included tree species, diameter at breast height (DBH), diameter at root collar (DRC), height, crown width, and vertical structures. The carbon uptake and storage per tree were calculated using the quantification models developed for the urban trees of each species. Results: The average carbon uptake and storage of street trees were approximately 7.2 ± 0.6 kg/tree/yr and 87.1 ± 10.2 kg/tree, respectively. The key factors determining carbon uptake and storage were tree size, vertical structure, the composition of tree species, and growth conditions. The annual total carbon uptake and storage were approximately 1,135.8 tons and 22,737.8 tons, respectively. The total carbon uptake was about the same amount as carbon emitted by 2,272 vehicles a year. Conclusion: This study has significance in providing the basic unit to quantify carbon uptake and storage of street trees based on field surveys. To improve the carbon reduction capacity of street trees, it is necessary to consider planning strategies such as securing and extending available grounds and spaces for high-density street trees with a multi-layered structure.
The purpose of this study is to analyze and illustrate 'Rhizome', a postmodern speculation system based on de-subjectivity and decentralization, presented by Gilles Deleuze. He borrowed the word rhizome, an originally botanical term meaning a horizontal stem under the surface of the earth, to counteract the dominating system grounded on binary, root-tree structure. The study then criticizes the early movements of de-subjectivity with molecular-biological and evolutionary evidences, and proves that these evidences can only be characterized by chance and nomadism, which are the key elements that constitute Rhizome. As a practical example of Rhizome, the study analyzes the film by Gus Van Sant, and demonstrates that both his various cinematic experiments and the result bear the same characteristics as Rhizome.

This paper proposes an architecture of a sensor network for gathering data under a powerful beam cluster tree architecture. This architecture is used when there is a need to gather data from sensor node where there is no sink node connected to an existing network, or it is required to get a series of data specific to an event or time. The transmit distance of the beam signal is longer than that of the usual sensor node. The nodes of the network make a tree network when receiving a beam message transmitting from the powerful root node. All sensor nodes in a sink tree network synchronize to the superframe and know exactly the sequence value of the current superframe. When there is data to send to the sink node, the sensor node sends data at the corresponding allocated channel. Data sending schemes under the guaranteed time slot are tested and the delay and jitter performance is explained.
Twelve Camellia sinensis populations were studied to investigate the biomass distribution related to stand structure. With increasing mean age of the population, mean root collar diameter increased, while mean height, density and root collar area had no correlation with the age. The result of dimension analysis after cutting the sample trees showed that dry weights of stems +branches and root were exponentially increased and dry weights of current leaves and twigs were linearly increased with increasing root collar diameter. However, the dry weight of older leaves was not related to the root collar diameter. The range of total biomass was 1,162~11,474kg/ha and the range of current leaf biomass was 165~1,341kg/ha. The range of T/R ratio was 1.5~2.8. The biomass of stems+branches and root were significantly correlated with the root collar area of the population and were not significantly correlated with the mean age, mean root collar diameter and density of the population. The biomass of current leaves and twigs were significantly correlated with the root collar area and density of the population.
This paper investigates the timing of Korean spoken in a news-reading speech style in order to improve the naturalness of durations used in Korean speech synthesis. Each segment in a corpus of 671 read sentences was annotated with 69 segmental and prosodic features so that the measured duration could be correlated with the context in which it occurred. A CART model based on the features showed a correlation coefficient of 0.79 with an RMSE (root mean squared prediction error) of 23 ms between actual and predicted durations in reserved test data. These results are comparable with recent published results in Korean and similar to results found in other languages. An analysis of the classification tree shows that phrasal structure has the greatest effect on the segment duration, followed by syllable structure and the manner features of surrounding segments. The place features of surrounding segments only have small effects. The model has application in Korean speech synthesis systems.
The replication of data is used to increase its availability, improve the performance of a system, and advance the fault-tolerance of a system. In this paper, it is required for the information about the location of a primary site of the replicas of each data item. The replicas of each data item are hierarchically organized to a tree based on the fact that the root is the primary replica in partially replicated databases. It eliminates useless propagation since the propagation can be done to only sites having replicas following the hierarchy of data. And our algorithm schedules transactions so that the execution order of updates at each primary site is identical at all sites by using timestamp. Using our algorithm, the consistent data are supplied and the performance of read-only transactions can be improved by using tree structure of replicas of each data item.
A secret sharing scheme is a cryptographic protocol to share a secret among a set of participants P in the way that only qualified subsets of P can reconstruct the secret whereas any other subset of P, non-qualified to know the secret, cannot determine anything about the secret. In this paper, we propose a new secret sharing scheme in hierarchical groups, whose hierarchy can be represented as a tree structure. In the tree structure, participants of higher levels have priorities to reconstruct the secret over participants of lower levels. In the absence of the participant of a higher level, it is possible for this participant to delegate the ability to reconstruct the secret to the child nodes of the next lower level through the transfer of his delegation ticket. This scheme has a dynamic access structure through the recursive delegation process from the root to lower levels where participants aren't absent.

The purpose of this study is to compare growth condition of landscape woody plants growing on the different ground structures in apartment complex. I chose Manseok Beach Town Complex 2, in Manseok-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon which has both natural and artificial ground as a subject site. Analysis of three phases of soil showed that artificial ground had average liquid phase of 30.89%, artificial ground mounding 33.88% and natural ground 24.40%. It means that artificial ground has higher water content than natural ground despite having same earthiness. It is believed that artificial ground is not as well drained as natural ground even though it is connected to the natural ground and has a deep soil depth because of mounding. Comparative study between woody plants on natural ground and those on artificial ground demonstrated that trees on natural ground grew 40.4% compared to those on artificial ground(0.875mm more) in terms of diameter growth. Average diameter growth of trees on natural ground was 3.040mm against 2.165mm for those on artificial ground. All 19 tree species which were measured for root diameter growth showed similar or higher growth on natural ground than on artificial ground. When it comes to growth of height, arborvitae showed highest growth on natural ground, followed by Thuja occidentalis, Pinus strobus, Magnolia denudata, Diospyros kaki and Aesculus turbinata. I measured branch growth and rate of leaf adherence of Pinus strobus. Average annual rate of branch growth of woody plants on natural ground was twice as high as those on artificial ground. I could conclude that ground structure influences branch growth of Pinus strobus. Statistics analysis of tree damage demonstrated significant result, meaning that there is a difference in the average damage rate depending on structure of ground. In order to validate growth difference by planting ground, I conducted T-Test of growth of diameter, root diameter, branch and height on woody plants growing on natural and artificial ground. As a result, it is believed that there is a difference in the growth of trees depending on the ground structure. Putting all these results together demonstrates that woody plants on natural ground generally grow better than those on artificial ground, which means ground structure does have an influence on the environment of growth of trees.

Recently, an idea has been suggested in which members construct the network by sharing their surplus bandwidth of their own access point. This kind of network is called public-shared network. As an application, SVC video streaming delivery system on public-shared network has been proposed. To send video stream from the stream server to clients, a tree structure is constructed where the root is a stream server, internal nodes are sharable access points, and leafs are clients. The previous researches have focused on constructing the minimal sharable-bandwidth tree which can serve all video streaming requests using the minimal sharable bandwidth. In this paper, we have shown that the problem of constructing a tree structure with given sharable access points to serve maximal video streaming requests is NP-hard. We also have developed an efficient heuristic algorithm for this problem and evaluated experimentally our algorithm.
