The aim of this study is to investigate present situation about occurrence of surplus classrooms by the merger and abolition of rural elementary schools, and to deduce basic architectural data for efficient utilization. It was examined based on the analysis of using pattern and interview of teachers of modernized elementary model schools. The occurrence ratio of surplus classrooms was about 30 to 60 percentages among seven investigated schools, the ratio was gradually increasing. Most of them were nearly leaving without certain practical use because of inaccessibility and low degree of diversion. The characteristic about diversion of surplus classroom was shown to change from special or learning room to living-related room and management-related room in order, finally, it was used a room for child care with a lapse of time. Long-tenn and continuous data accumulation for diversion and utilization of surplus classroom should be required.

Purpose: This study presents the results of the analysis on space utilization of kidney dialysis units in regional public hospitals, which plays a key role in local public medical services. The result aims to achieve safety from infection, allow comfort for the dialysis environment, and stability for medical support. The purpose of this study is to present fundamental data for architectural plans for the kidney dialysis unit, as well as to alleviate potential infectious diseases such as COVID-19. Methods: For research purposes, the investigation and analysis of space utilization were based on architectural floor plans, research papers and literature, related legal systems, and public statistics. Of the main 35 regional public hospitals, in regards to data accessibility, 15 facilities were selected to conduct the survey and analysis for the objective. Results: The space composition by area research results of kidney dialysis units in public hospitals are as follows: Firstly, most targets do not have required rooms in the access and support area, except for the hemodialysis beds in the treatment section. Secondly, the access area requires necessary room and space design that took into consideration of convenience and accessibility for patients. Thirdly, in regards to infection prevention and control, proper circulation and room plan is essential for storage and disposal of contaminated products and linen after use. For the treatment area, the arrangement plan needs to establish a visual connection between the isolation room, the nursing station, and the bed area. Additionally, consideration of circulation in the preparation, treatment, observation, examination, and all other rooms in the facility is required. Lastly, for the support area, the room is designed to consider adequate working and meeting spaces for the medical staff, consultation space for patients or guardians, separate storage and disposal of clean and contaminated items, and the storage of various equipment for dialysis. Implications: In preparation for the increase in chronic kidney failure patients and the spread of infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, the researched data demonstrates the basic guidelines for space composition of kidney dialysis units and the significant role of regional public hospitals.
Visible light communication (VLC) is considered to be an attractive scheme to realize the broadband wireless communication for an indoor environment. We present a room division multiplexing (RDM) mechanism for an indoor multi-room VLC network, which utilizes the spatial position of the LED lamp in different rooms as a novel dimension of network resource for multiplexing, and thus the network capacity is increased. In such a network, the service interruption caused by user cross-room movement is an important problem, and we propose a double-area-positioning based cross-room switch solution. An experimental platform demonstrates the RDM-deployed VLC network, and validates the performance of the presented switch mechanism.
The demand for one-room system house as a new type of house will increase gradually, and residents also tend to be diversified. However, a method of planning of planning of one-room system house was limited and unified. Current floor plans of the one-room don't utilize a benefit of open plan in small areas. The purpose of this study is to propose several guidelines for the planning of one-room system houses that correspond to residents' needs in order to facilitate the benefit of open plan such as efficiency and multi-purpose use in small area. For this, a field survey was carried out as case studies, with individual interviews, questionnaires, and actual survey including taking pictures. Subjects were 50 residents who living in one-room system houses in Busan. Space usage behavior of residents, residential satisfactions, and preference attitudes on the attached service facilities were analyzed. The results were synthesized to suggest several guidelines for planning of one-room system house.

The present work deals with subjective assessments to propose the objective parameter related to the subjective attribute of reverberation in the coupled room varied the aperture opening size. A 1/10 scale model was built and used for the measurements and subjective assessments. For the subjective tests, binaural impulse responses(BIRs) were measured using a dummy head and the measured BIRs were convolved with anechoic recorded music for the presentation over the headphones. The results showed that the perceived reverberation was the largest in the aperture opening size 12.5%(1.97% of mail) room surface area)and decreased with increasing the aperture opening size over 25% (3.94% of main room surface area) in the main room coupled with the secondary reverberant room. In the main room coupled with the secondary absorptive room, there was no changes in the perceived reverberation up to the aperture opening size 6.25%(0.99% of main room surface area) and it gradually decreased with increasing the aperture opening site over 12.5%. The objective parameter, T30/T15, showed a very low correlation with the perceived reverberation in the coupled room varied the aperture opening size but showed a high correlation with a new objective parameter, T30/Tbp, proposed by the authors. Because the late part decay energy more rapidly increases with increasing the aperture opening site than the early and middle part decay energy, the LDT/EDT or T3/T1 is a better quantifier to measure double slopes in the coupled room than the T30/T15.
In this study, the effect of the air purifier located in the living room on the reduction of PM2.5 concentration in the living room and bedroom was investigated. Measurements were carried out in real-life for about 2 weeks in a Korean apartment building where a 3-person household had lived and the exclusive private area was 84.9 m2. When the air purifier in the living room was operating, the change in PM2.5 concentration was measured when the door to the bedroom connected to the living room was opened and closed. In the case of living with the bedroom door open, the average PM2.5 concentrations in the living room and bedroom were almost the same. When living with the bedroom door closed, the average PM2.5 in the living room was higher than in the bedroom. The ventilation and cooking effects in the living room mainly affected the PM2.5 concentration in the living room. Only one air purifier in the living room was able to keep the PM2.5 concentration in the living room and bedroom low.
Purpose: Ths study aims to examine characteristics of patients using emergency room after execution of five-day workweek system by government and provide basic materials for operation of efficient emergency room. Methods: Data were collected tbrough medical records of patients visiting emergency room from July of 2004 to October of 2006 and they were analyzed with SPSSlPC 10.0. Conclusion : 1. The number of patients visiting emergency room was average 16.7 persons a day in 2004, 17.5 in 2005 and 18.6 in 2006 and it was found that it was increasing every year since the execution of five-day workweek system 2. Gender distribution of subjects using emergency room was higher in male than in female every year. 3. Means of transport to emergency room were mostly private car and others(public transport or on foot), but use of ambulance was increasing. 4. Residential areas of subjects were mostly 'Myeon area' in 2004~2005, but it was changed to residents at 'Eup area' in 2006. 5. Distribution of patients by medical departments was highest in internal medicine and surgery in 2004~2006 and rate of visiting pediatrics was increasing every year. 6. Time to stay at emergency room was most at 'below 30 min'. in 2004~2006, but cases of stay for 'more than 2 hours' were increasing every year. 7. On presence or absence of trauma in patients visiting emergency room, rate of visit to emergency room with 'no trauma' was higher and this result was increasing every year. 8. As a result of classifying severity of patients visiting emergency room, use rate of emergency room by 'non-emergency' patients was over 90% in 2004~2006 and such a phenomenon was deepened in 2006 compared to that in 2004. 9. Measures after emergency care of patients were most in case of 'discharge' in 2004~2006, but cases of admission to hospital after emergency care were increased every year. 10. The revision of regulations for apartment unit design, which are concerning the area calculating criteria (revised in 1998) and use of balcony (revised in 2005), considerably have increased livable space of apartment unit. This paper aims to verify its effect to apartment unit plan in the aspect of number of rooms and size of each room. For this purpose, 60 and 85 $m^2$ sized apartment unit plans in Seoul Gangnam district have been analysed by construction period, and a conclusion is drawn out as following; (1) The revison of regulations in 1998 and 2005 increased livable space of 60 and 85 $m^2$ sized apartment about 16.4~20.6 $m^2$ area. (2) Bedrooms, living room, dining room and kitchen have no change in size in nominal sense, actually, they increase their size after the fact by converting balcony to livable space. (3) Bathroom, dress room and entrance space have been considerably increased in size, which is possible for available area added in place of wall footprint according to 1998 revision.
This study investigated the ratios of area, according to the domains and functions, of a public library. To this end, 20 public libraries were selected as samples from the 2012 Public Library Construction Casebook and from cases of consulting on the construction and operation of public libraries. The domains of a public library were categorized into data reading, cultural education, operation, common use, and others. There was a large difference in the area ratios between public libraries that were built with the aid of consulting (Group B) and those without consulting (Group A). In functional terms, the data(bookshelf) space and reading space had similar ratios within a data reading room, while the ratio of the library information space was smaller. Within a general data reading room, the ratio of the library information space was 12%, while the ratios of the data space and seating space were 44%, respectively. Moreover, within a data reading room for children, the ratios of the library information space and children's space were adjusted to 14%, respectively, while the data space and seating space each accounted for 36%, with either 3- or 5-decker bookshelves installed. This study has identified how to calculate the area for each domain, capacity of books, and seating capacity by applying area ratios through functions in the data storage domain, along with numbers of books and seats per unit space. This study has also succeeded in calculating the required area and seats for each type of data storage room by applying the number of books that exist. However, this study has its limitation in that the regional characteristics(Metropolis, Small & medium size cities, Rural areas) were not considered because the number of samples was only 20 libraries.

Regional closed schools of about more 3,348(2010 year) have occurred all over the country according to governmental policy of 1982. Moreover, The applications of be closed school are not efficient and few studies about using community center. Also, Farmer which is the leader of revitalization of rural village could not have advantages about community center in rural area than in urban area. Therefore, The propose of study is increasing values of culture and local by using community center with closed schools. For moving ahead with study, I analysis about causes of origination of closed schools with literature and refer to the reference of the current of situation in Gyeongbuk Local Education Authority and National Statistical Office and Comprehensive Rural Community Development Program of Minister for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Korea for examination of conjugating closed school through community center. According to the research, community center was to be included hall, visiting center, exhibiting space, conference room, experience room, multipurpose room, dining room, welfare space and specialized room with revitalization of rural village. I proposed improvement of law and administration and suggest several cases which already in utilization.
