슬레이트지붕 개량사업 구조안전성 검토 (A Study on the Structural Safety of the Roof Improvement Project)

  • The roof improvement project is being carried out under the government's leadership for the sake of national welfare. The project is to replace the asbestos slate roof with a metallic one. In this study, the structural safety of the improved roof was examined and the project guidelines were reviewed. The causes of the roof damage were investigated and the structural analysis was performed for the roof frame subject to wind and snow loads. Metallic roof assemblies have higher strength and load resistance capability than usual slate ones, so the structural safety is governed by the frame. The stresses of the roof frame elements caused by the wind and snow loads were analyzed according to roof frame with various spacings between the rafters and the purlins. Wind load analysis was performed by 24, 28, and 38 m/sec of the basic wind speed. Snow load analysis was carried out by 0.5, 1.0 and $2.0kN/m^2$ of the ground snow load. As the analysis result, the current spacing and the size of the lumber did not satisfy the Korean building code specification. To secure the safety of the roof improvement project, the spacing of the roof frame elements and the size of the lumber should be determined based on the analysis results by structural engineers.

  • Plane steel portal frames, with pitched roof, exposed to fire, are examined. First, a determinate frame is analysed by hand. For flexible columns and shallow roof, snap-through occurs before plastic hinges mechanism is formed. An indeterminate frame with shorter columns and taller roof is also analysed by hand. Then, the same frame is simulated by a truss and a nonlinear static analysis is performed by use of a short computer program. The results of computer analysis by use of truss model are compared with those of analysis by hand and a satisfactory approximation between them is observed.

Inelastic two-degree-of-freedom model for roof frame under airblast loading

  • When a roof frame is subjected to the airblast loading, the conventional way to analyze the damage of the frame or design the frame is to use single degree of freedom (SDOF) model. Although a roof frame consists of beams and girders, a typical SDOF analysis can be conducted only separately for each component. Thus, the rigid body motion of beams by deflections of supporting girders can not be easily considered. Neglecting the beam-girder interaction in the SDOF analysis may cause serious inaccuracies in the response values in both Pressure-Impulse curve (P-I) and Charge Weight-Standoff Diagrams (CWSD). In this paper, an inelastic two degrees of freedom (TDOF) model is developed, based on force equilibrium equations, to consider beam-girder interaction, and to assess if the modified SDOF analysis can be a reasonable design approach.

  • We have evaluated the structural integrity of a sandwich composite train roof which can find a lightweight, cost saving solution to large structural components for rail vehicles in design stages. The sandwich composite train roof was 11.45 meter long and 1.76 meter wide. The reinforced frame was inserted in sandwich panels to improve the structural performance of train roof structure and had the shape of hollow rectangular box. The finite-element analysis was used to calculate the stresses, deflections and natural frequencies of the sandwich composite train roof against the weight of air-condition system. The 3D sandwich FE model was introduced to simulate the hollow aluminum frames which jointed to both sides of the sandwich train roof. The results shown that the structural performance of a sandwich composite train roof under load conditions specified was proven and the use of aluminum reinforced frame was beneficial with regard to weight savings in comparison to steel reinforced frame.

  • In case of rectangular lattice dome which shearing rigidity is very small, it has a concern to drop Buckling strength considerably by external force. So, by means of system to increase buckling-strength, there is a method of construction that lattice of dome is one with roof material. In a case like this, shearing rigidity of roof material increases buckling-strength of the whole of structure and can be designed economically from the viewpoint of practice. In case of analysis is achieved considering roof material that adheres to lattice of dame, there is method that considers the rigidity that use effective width frame as method to evaluate rigidity of roof material. therefore, this study is aimed at deciding effective width of roof material united with rectangular lattice dome to evaluate rigidity of roof material by effective width of frame and investigating how much does rigidity of roof material united with lattice of dome increase buckling-strength of the whole of structure according to rise-ratio. Conditions of loading are vertical-type-uniform loading. Analysis method is based on FEM dealing with the geometrically nonlinear deflection problems.

Influence of green roofs on the seismic response of frame structures

  • Environmental and operational benefits of green roofs are manifolds; however, their main disadvantages are cost and weight. New technology enabled the use of plastics to reduce the weight of green roof systems to promote their installation. To maximize their potential benefits, green roofs can be installed on existing structures. This study evaluates the influence of green roofs on the seismic response of 3, 6, and 8 storey reinforced concrete ductile moment resisting frames, which were designed according to current seismic standards, however, not designed for green roofs. For each frame, three different types of roofs are considered: gravel flat roof, extensive green roof, and intensive green roof. Nonlinear dynamic time history analysis using an ensemble of twenty real earthquake records was performed to determine the inter-storey drift demand and roof drift demand for each frame. Eigenvalue analysis was also performed to determine the impact of green roofs weight on the elastic and cracked periods of the structure. Results from the analysis demonstrated that intensive and extensive green roofs do not affect the seismic performance of reinforced concrete frame structures.

The finite element analysis was used to calculate the stresses, deflections and natural frequencies of the sandwich composite train roof against the weight of air-conditioned system. The 3D sandwich finite element model was introduced to examine the structural behavior of the hollow aluminum extrusion frames joined to both sides of the sandwich composite train roof. The results shown that the structural performance of the sandwich composite train roof under loading conditions specified is satisfaction and the use of aluminum reinforced frame and aluminum honeycomb core is beneficial with regard to weight saving and structural performance in comparison with steel reinforced frame and polyurethane foam core. Also, we have manufactured prototype of sandwich composite train roof structure on the basis of analysis results.

  • 본 논문은 앙골라 주경기장에 대한 구조설계에 대해 설명하고 있다. 앙골라 주경기장은 연면적 78,000$m^2$, 지상 4층 구조물로서 스탠드 부분은 Steel moment frame으로 구성되고, 지붕부분은 캔틸래버 트러스 시스템으로 설계되었다. 기초는 파일기초가 사용되었으며, 내진과 내풍설계, 스탠드 부분에 대한 다이아프램 액션, 스탠드와 지붕사이의 Interaction, 바닥진동 등 사용성 평가가 설계사항에 고려된 프로젝트이다.

신라기와의 지방확산에 대한 검토 (A Study on the Diffusion of Silla Roof-End Tile)

  • 최근 활발한 발굴조사가 이루어지는 가운데 영남지방에서 신라기와가 다량 출토되고 있다. 이들 중에는 특히 경주에서 출토되는 신라기와와 동범관계의 기와가 확인된다. 이에 영남지역의 신라시대막새에 대해서 경주지역 출토품과 비교하여 문양구성 등이 동일한 막새 중 동범막새와 동형막새로 구분하고 검토해 보았다. 그 중에서 특히 주목되는 유적은 인각사이다. 인각사 발굴조사에서 출토된 신라기와 중 연화문수막새를 포함한 당초문암막새 등 일부가 경주 월성과 황룡사지 등에서 출토되는 막새와 같은 틀로 제작한 동범막새의 관계인 것으로 판단된다. 이는 경주에서 제작된 막새가 각 지방으로 직접 이동한 경우와, 와범만이 이동하여 현지에서 제작된 경우, 와공이 이동하여 현지에서 제작한 경우로 정리해 볼 수 있다. 지방출토 신라기와는 인각사의 경우, 시기를 구분하여 나타나는 기와의 양상을 통해서 공존과 확장, 그리고 보수가 거듭된 상황을 파악할 수 있다. 이러한 정황은 경주로부터 비단 한시적으로 공급된 것이 아닌 지속적 관계로 이해하는 단서로서 의미가 깊다고 하겠다. 한편 신라기와가 경주에서 생산되어 각 지방으로 유입되는 과정에서도 직접유입이 이루어졌다면, 여러 가지 조건에 의해 육로운송 보다는 수로운송이 유리하였을 것으로 생각된다. 이는 대상 유적이 크고 작은 강과 하천 부근에서 확인된 것과도 깊은 연관이 있을 것으로 판단된다.

동화사 수마제전의 건축적 특징 (Architectural Characteristic of SooMaJaiJeon in DongHwaSa)

  • For this purpose, the research is to study the architectural characteristic of SooMaJaiJeon which is one of the DongHwaSa in the traditional wooden architecture by dividing it into three section-bracket, roof structure and frame structure. This study is largely divided into four stage-section do subject, research and actual measurement and conclusion. The whole process was consistently executed through detailed steps. The com position of this study is as follows. The 1st chapter-the purpose, background, method, object and range of the research. The 2nd chapter-the history of SooMajaiJeon. the 3rd chapter-the structure of Dapo-style bracket has generally considered, the frame structure of Dapo-style, vertical and horizontal member and podium, the characteristic of bracket with member and the structure, design of bracket, roof structure. In the 4th chapter, the conclusion of this study has been summarized, Dapo-style is the building that has deep symbolism and structural characteristic of traditional wooden architecture. The frame structure has a dominant regional characteristic and a typical part of typological classification in SooMaJaiJeon.
