규칙파중 횡동요 하는 사각형 바지선 주위 유동의 수치모사 (Numerical Simulation of Flow around Free-rolling Rectangular Barge in Regular Waves)

  • This study aimed at validating the adopted numerical methods to solve two-phase flow around a two-dimensional (2D) rectangular floating structure in regular waves. A structure with a draft equal to one half of its height was hinged at the center of gravity and free to roll with waves that had the same period as the natural roll period of a rectangular barge. In order to simulate the 2D incompressible viscous two-phase flow in a wave tank with the rectangular barge, the present study used the volume of fluid (VOF) method based on the finite volume method with a standard turbulence model. In addition, the sliding mesh technique was used to handle the motion of the rectangular barge induced by the fluid-structure interaction. Consequently, the present results for the flow field and roll motion of the structure had good agreement with those of the relevant previous experiment.

일부 대학생의 자아존중감과 칫솔질 행위 (Self Esteem and Toothbrushing Behavior in College Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine self-esteem and toothbrushing behavior in college students. The research was conducted from August 26 to September 16. 1999. Totally 1003 students consisted of whom 875 in college and 128 in university were surveyed. Questionnaires including period. frequency. method. and time of toothbrushing and self-esteem were obtained. The data were analysed by descriptive statistics. t-test, Pearson Correlation Coefficient and ANOVA. A significant level of statistical difference was 5 percent. The results were summarized as follows: 1. The average score of self-esteem was $28.358\pm4.928$. 2. The average score of toothbrushing behavior $52.63\pm11.12$. 3. 54.8 percent of the students who were surveyed reported that they brushed their teeth after breakfast and after dinner. 42.9 percent did so twice a day. and 50.2 percent did Rolling method. 4. The Pearson Correlation Coefficient between the self esteem and toothbrushing behavior showed a positive correlation(p=.005), 3. The level of self-esteem was significantly varied with toothbrushing period (p=.000), toothbrushing frequency (p=.020)' and toothbrushing time (p=.003). From the above findings. we found out self-esteem might play a significant role in mediating changes in oral health behavior.

Seasonality and Long-Term Nature of Equity Markets: Empirical Evidence from India

  • The research paper endeavors to investigate the presence of seasonal anomalies in the Indian equity market. It also aims to verify the notion that equity markets are for long-term investors. The study employs daily index data of Sensex, Bombay Stock Exchange, to understand its volatility for the period ranging from January 2001 to August 2020. To analyze the seasonal effects in the stock market of India, multiple regression techniques along with descriptive analysis, graphical analysis and various statistical tests are used. The study also employs the rolling returns at different time intervals in order to understand the underlying risks and volatility involved in equity returns. The results from the analysis reveal that daily and monthly seasonality is not present in Sensex returns i.e., investors cannot earn abnormal returns by timing their investment decisions. Hence, the major finding of this study is that the Indian stock market performance is random, and the returns are efficient. The other major conclusion of the research is that the equity returns are profitable in the long run providing investors a hope that they can make gains and compensate for the loss in one period by a superior performance in some other periods.

LED집어등 설치에 따른 연안 채낚기 어선의 복원성능 (Stability of fishing vessel according to the LED luring lamp installation)

  • In this study, the stability of fishing vessels get some change in accordance with the installation of LED luring lamp in comparison with metal halide luring lamp were investigated. Inclining test for 9.77 ton class of squid jigging and hair-tail angling vessel was performed in order to make a stability evaluation. A performance analysis of the target vessels to the stability on the basis of KST-SHIP program was evaluated. The results were as follows in this study. The stability of the fishing vessel by a metal halide such as LED and the like according to the result obtained by the inclining test is a slightly present difference, and the stability is not affected. The fishing vessel with LED lamp installed satisfies all the stability criteria specified in law and IMO rule. Compared to the metal halide LED lamp the increase of the height of the center of gravity and the initial transverse metacenter was caused. Due to the LED installation, the somewhat wider wind area of the waterline, which appears as a result, does not lead to an actual increase in rolling period. But then it is necessary to be designed on that the LED lamp shape reduces wind pressure area. Because of LED lamp installation, the GM value of vessels is increasing faster rolling cycle so causes a decrease in the sense that the crew is aboard.

액티그라프를 이용한 철강업 교대근무자의 수면·각성 행태 (Sleep/Wake Behavior of Shift Workers in the Iron and Steel Industry Using Wrist Actigraph)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of sleep/wake behavior for shift workers in the iron and steel industry using wrist actigraph for 59 male workers on a continuous full-day three-team three-shift system of backward rotation including on-duty and off-duty periods. The wrist actigraph data were recorded for 15 days (l shift cycle) for each subject. The sleep length at home during night shift decreased significantly as compared to the morning or evening shifts. The night shift nap length increased significantly in all sections as compared to the morning or evening shifts. The nap length in the Steel Manufacturing Process and Rolling Process during night shift decreased significantly as compared to the Machine Maintenance Section, the Forwarding of Products Section, and the Field Management Section. However, the sleep length at home while off-duty period increased significantly. The percentage of nap length during night shift in the Rolling Process, Steel Manufacture Process, and the other three types of jobs was 16.0%, 20.4%, and about 50.0%, respectively. The nap length during night shift for the above 50 year olds increased significantly as compared to the below 50 year olds. Finally, we discussed the role of nap-taking during the burden on night shift workers and the increased difficulty in continuing their job.

해수환경에서의 차축소재(RSA1) 부식특성 평가 (Evaluation of Corrosion Behavior of Railway Axle Material (RSA1) in Seawater)

  • 본 연구에서는 철도차량의 차축소재로 사용되는 RSA1 소재에 대한 해수 부식특성 평가를 하였다. 미국재료시험협회에서 규정한 ASTM-D1141에 해당하는 인공해수를 사용하여 3전극 셀 구조를 이용한 동전위 분극법과 임피던스 분광법을 바탕으로 산출된 부식전류밀도와 부식속도는 각각 $18.3{\mu}A/cm2$와 0.217 mm/yr이다. 이 결과에 따르면 철도차량의 일반적인 내구연한인 25년을 가정할 때 한 면에서의 차축부식량은 5mm정도로 예상된다. 패러데이법칙을 바탕으로 한 정전류 부식 가속화 시험을 통해 1,3,4년의 부식양을 인위적으로 형성하였고, 단면적 감소분을 고려하여 인장시험을 시행하였다. 탄성구간에서는 부식에 의한 기계적 특성변화가 관찰되지 않았지만 소재의 연성 값은 부식이 진행 될수록 감소되는 경향을 보였다. 본 연구 결과는 향후 해수환경에서 사용될 철도차량 설계 시 고려할 기초 부식데이타로 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

A Review of Withering in the Processing of Black Tea

  • Purpose: Tea is the most frequently consumed drink worldwide, next to water. About 75% of the total world tea production includes black tea, and withering is one of the major processing steps critical for the quality of black tea. There are two types of tea withering methods: physical and chemical withering. Withering can be achieved by using tat, tunnel, drum, and trough withering systems. Of these, the trough withering system is the most commonly used. This study focuses on the different types of withering, their effect on the various quality attributes of tea, and other aspects of withering methods that affect superior quality tea. Results: During physical withering, tea shoots loose moisture content that drops from approximately 70-80% to 60-70% (wet basis). This leads to increased sap concentration in tea leaf cells, and turgid leaves become flaccid. It also prevents tea shoots from damage during maceration or rolling. During chemical withering, complex chemical compounds break down into simpler ones volatile flavor compounds, amino acids, and simple sugars are formed. Withering increases enzymatic activities as well as the concentration of caffeine. Research indicates that about 15% of chlorophyll degradation occurs during withering. It is also reported that during withering lipids break down into simpler compounds and catechin levels decrease. Improper withering can cause adverse effects on subsequent manufacturing operations, such as maceration, rolling, fermentation, drying, and tea storage. Conclusion: Freshly harvested leaves are conditioned physically and chemically for subsequent processing. There is no specified withering duration, but 14-18 h is generally considered the optimum period. Proper and even withering of tea shoots greatly depends on the standards of plucking, handling, transportation, environmental conditions, time, and temperature. Thus, to ensure consumption of high quality tea, the withering step must be monitored carefully.

철도차량 유지보수 비용관리 방안 연구 (A study on the method of rolling stock maintenance cost management)

  • Costs have long since become a major issue in railway system analysis, attention is not limited to the acquisition costs alone, but encompasses all costs involved in the use and disposal of the systems. Concepts such as Life Cycle Cost(LCC), Costs Of Ownership(COO), or Total Ownership Cost(TOC) are more and more frequent in any document dealing with system analysis. Most of railway projects have applied this LCC Model to evaluate effectiveness of system acquisition cost. But these action of LCC model does not applied all the rest of system life cycle period due to the differences of its responsibility. This is why a study has been undertaken by the operation party to harmonize the most important aspects of the LCC model. This study focused on these and other objectives for introduction of method and needs for an action plan for maintenance actions involved relevant cost allocation.

  • Light Rail Transit(LRT) is a large scale complex system which combines rolling stocks, power supply, signal communication, tracks & stations, and hundreds of billions of wons per project are spent for construction. Therefore efficient integration of sub-systems is very important. The systems engineering is a good method to reduce the cost and risk of LRT project. In this paper, we introduce a research plan on the application of systems engineering to LRT project. We, Korea Railroad Research Institute(KRRI), launched a research program with 4 companies, which is support by the governmen and project period is 4.5 years. Main research topic is to develop the technology for the application of systems engineering technical process to LRT project based on ISO/IEC 15288.

  • It is important to decide the minimum film thickness and viscosity variations of a multigrade lubricant in the contact surface under the high pressure conditions. By carrying out acceleration, deceleration, and various sliding-rolling ratio movement between two contact bodies, it is experimented that film formation variations in the contact surface are captured with multigrade lubricants in order to exactly investigate the variations of film formations. Optical interference images are continuously captured with high resolution CCD camera during the captured period of acceleration, deceleration. The friction forces between the contacting bodies are also measured simultaneously with the film formation.
