On the analysis of micro pattern forming on the thin sheet metal (마이크로 박판 미세 패턴 성형공정에 대한 해석적 연구)

  • Roll forming process is one of important metal processing technology because the process is simple and economical. These days, roll forming process is tried to be employed in manufacturing the circuit board, barrier ribs and solar cell plate for productivity. However, it is difficult to apply to the forming of micro scale or sub-micro scale pattern. In this study, the roll forming processing for the micro scale is designed and analyzed. In this study, the forming of micro pattern for solar cell plate by incremental roll forming process is analyzed. The solar cell plate may have thousands of patterns, and the analysis of forming considering all the patterns is impossible due to the computational costs. In this study, analyses are carried out for various numbers of patterns and the results are compared. It is shown that the analyses results with four row patterns and twelve row patterns are same. So, it is considered that the analysis can be carried out for only four rows of pattern for the design of incremental roll forming process. Also experiment is carried out process that is designed through simulation.

The Effect of Shrink fit on the Thermal Crown Analysis in Twin Roll Strip Casting Process (쌍롤형 박판주조공정에서 열박음을 고려한 열적 크라운해석)

  • In twin roll strip casting process, coupled analyses of heat transfer and deformation for the cast roll are carried out by using the finite element program MARC to examine the thermal crown. Shrink fit effect and plastic deformation are considered. The results shows that the thermal crown is greatly influenced by shrink ft and that the thermal crown for POSCO Pilot Caster 2 Copper Roll has “M” shape. The effects of several factors on thermal crown are also investigated. The amount of thermal crown increases as heat flux, casting speed, steeve thickness and casting roll width increase and decreases as the casting roll diameter increases.

  • In the present work, cross-roil rolling was rallied out using a rolling mill in which the roll axes are tilted by $5^{\circ},\;7.5^{\circ},\;10^{\circ}$ towards the transverse direction of the roiled sample. The evolution of strain states during cross-roll rolling was investigated by three-dimensional finite element method (FEM) simulation. Parallel to cross-roll rolling, normal-rolling using a conventional rolling mill was also carried out in the same rolling condition for clarifying the effect of cross-roll rolling. It turned out that three shear rate components were all introduced to the rolled sample by the cross-roll rolling process, while only one shear rate component operated during normal-rolling.

  • In roll forming process, a sheet metal is continuously progressively formed into a product with required cross-section and longitudinal shape, such as a circular tube with required diameter, wall-thickness and straightness, by passing through a series of forming rolls in arranged in tandem. In recent years, that process is often applied to the bumper rail in the automotive industries. In this study, a optimal front side member manufacturing technology, model deign and proper roll-pass sequences can be suggested by forming number of roll-pass and bending angle. And also effects of the process parameters on the final shape formed by roll forming defects were evaluated.

  • Rolling force in the direct rolling(or twin-roll strip continuous casting) process fo semi-solid material has been computed using rigid-viscoplastic finite element method. Temperature distributions for calculations of rolling force and roll deformation are obtained from thermofluid analysis. Three dimensional roll deformation analysis has also been performed by using commercial package ANSYS. From the results, behavior of metal flow, rolling force and roll deformation have been investigated according to the process conditions of semi-solid direct rolling.
