  • Developed the model equations which calculate roll force, roll power during hot rolling in real time. The variables which mainly effect on the roll force, roll power are shape factor, reduction, roll diameter, roll velocity, strip inlet temperature, carbon content of strip and strip-roll contact friction coefficient. Among these variables roll diameter, roll velocity, inlet temperature, carbon content and friction coefficient can be excluded in interpolated model equation by introducing equation of die force(F'), power(p') of the frictionless uniform plane strain compression which can be calculated without iteration. At the case of coulomb friction coefficient of 0.3, we evaluated coefficient of polynomial equations of {{{{ { F} over {F' } }}}}, {{{{ { Pf} over {Pd }, { Pd} over {P' } }}}} from the result of finite element analysis using interpolation. It was found that the change of values of {{{{ { F} over {F' }, { P} over {P' } }}}} with the friction coefficient tend to straight line which slope depend only on shape factor. With these properties, developed model equations could be extended to other values of coulomb friction coefficient. To verify developed roll force, roll power model equation we compared the results from these model equation with the results from these model equation with the results from finite element analysis in factory process condition.

  • This study presents a new approach to pressure control of a impression cylinder for roll coater which is a kind of face pressure control between blanket roll and impression roll. Roll-to-Roll method for printing is a very useful tool for mass production such as RFID elements, smart sensors and solar cell devices. In this study, a decupling control strategy of the roll coater which is a combination of a cylinder system, a dry system and two pressure regulators with two pneumatic cylinders was discussed. Also, the characteristics of component such as a pressure regulator having a pressure reducing function and the movement of a blanket roll and a impression cylinder were analyzed using the Matlab software. From this results, the techniques of a shock and a vibration reduction were suggested.

  • On-line prediction model which calculate roll force, roll power and forward slip of continuous hot strip rolling was built based on the results of plane strait rigid-viscoplastic finite element process model. Using the integrated FE process model, a series of finite element simulation was conducted over the process variables, and the influence of various process conditions on non-dimensional parameters was inspected. The prediction accuracy of the proposed on-line model under front and back tension is examined through comparison with predictions from a finite element process model over the various process conditions. In addition, we examined the validity of the on-line prediction model through comparison with roll force of experiment in hot rolling.

  • In this paper on-line model is derived from investigating via series of finite element process simulation. Some variables that little affect on non-dimensional parameters. ie. forward slip and torque factor. is extracted from composing on-line model Especially, this research focused on deriving on-line model which exactly predict roll force and roll power in the roughing mill process under small shape factor and small reduction ratio. The prediction accuracy of the proposed model is examined through comparison with predictions from a finite element process model

  • We are working towards large-area arrays of thin film transistors on polymer substrates using roll-to-roll (R2R) processes exclusively. Self-aligned imprint lithography (SAIL) is an enabler to pattern and align submicron features on meter-scaled flexible substrates in the R2R environment. The progress, current status and remaining issues of this new fabrication technology are presented.

  • Investigated via a series of finite element process simulation is the effect of diverse process variables on some selected non-dimensional parameters characterizing the strip in hot strip rolling. Then on the basis of these parameters an on-line model is derived for the precise prediction of roll and roll power. The prediction accuracy of the proposed model is examined through comparison with predictions from a finite element process model.

  • Because of the complexity of the flower design of roll forming process, in which the flat strip is progressively deformed by successive sets of profiled rolls, a computer-aided design system for the flower design has been developed. It is programmed in AutoLISP and DCL(Dialogue Control Language) of AutoCAD. It has been found that the system is helpful in saving the time and effort required to design the flower of the product to be roll-formed.

  • This study is about roll characteristics evaluation to show the advantage of using MR(magneto-rheological) dampers for steering of a SUV(sports utility vehicle). Roll characteristics is very important to observe the roll-propensity of the SUV. ADAMS/Car program was used to simulate the basic steering motion, using 63 D.O.F. vehicle model. Sky-Hook and Ground-Hook control algorithms were used as a semi-active suspension system controller. The roll characteristics from the steering motion were compared between the simulation results from the semi-active suspension system and the passive suspension system.

  • Progress in the development of a fully roll-to-roll selfaligned imprint process for producing active matrix backplanes with submicron aligned features on flexible substrates is reported. High performance transistors, crossovers and addressable active matrix arrays have been designed and fabricated using imprint lithography. Such a process has the potential of significantly reducing the costs of large area displays. The progress, current status and remaining issues of this new fabrication technology are reported.

  • We have developed self-aligned imprint lithography (SAIL) technology, an innovative method for roll-to-roll (R2R) fabrication of electronic devices on flexible plastic substrates. In this paper, we present the first R2R-produced ${\alpha}$-Si TFTs built on a polyimide substrate using the SAIL process, and prove the feasibility of this technology to enable R2R fabrication of flexible display active matrix (AM) backplanes with high precision and throughput.
