Purpose: This study was to investigate the effects of a family nursing practicum using role play on emotional intelligence, communication ability, and family nursing performance of nursing students. Methods: Role play training was provided to nursing students who took a community health nursing practicum (family nursing practicum). During the course for 2 weeks, participants were given role play practice for four times and a final test using role play at the end of the course. Data were collected from 52 nursing students before and after the family nurse practicum who agreed to participate in this study. Results: The scores of emotional intelligence, communication ability, and family nursing performance at post test were enhanced significantly compared to the scores at pre test. Conclusion: Nursing educators in family nursing can consider role play to improve emotional intelligence and communication ability as well as family nursing performance.

The present study examined how demographic, paternal, and children's variables were associated with role satisfaction of Korean fathers with young children. Subjects were 236 fathers of 3-5 year old children living in Jeju island in Korea. Data were collected using questionnaires. Among demographic variables, father's income is an only variable that effects on role satisfaction. Role satisfaction is positively associated with child care, marital, job satisfaction, and child-rearing participation in terms of psychological variables. According to multiple regression, role satisfaction was positively predicted by income, gender, and adaptability of children. Moreover, day care, marital, job satisfaction and child-rearing participation were significant predictors of role satisfaction.

A role of singletons in quantum central limit theorems is studied. A common feature of quantum central limit distributions, the singleton condition which guarantees the symmetry of the limit distributions, is revisited in the category of discrete groups and monoids. Introducing a general notion of quantum independence, the singleton independence which include the singleton condition as an extremal case, we clarify the role of singletons and investigate the mechanism of arising non-symmetric limit distributions.

Although traditionally viewed as a physical barrier between the host and a variety of inhaled irritants and pathogens, it has become clear that the epithelium has a much broader functional scope. Epithelial cells arc metabolically active and can play an important role in the regulation of the allergic inflammatory response. This review provides a consideration of the role of the epithelial cell as both a "target" for exogenous and endogenous stimuli and as an "effector" cell that is capable of producing a variety of products that can influence the inflammatory response in the airways.

Purpose: This study was conducted to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a prenatal parental role education program. Methods: The participants were healthy primiparous women and their healthy newborn babies. 57 mother-infant diads(27 in the intervention group, 30 in the control group). For the intervention group, an additional 4 prenatal parental role education programs and 2 postnatal telephone calls(1st & 3rd week after birth) were provided. Data were analyzed by frequency, chi-square test, t-test and repeated measures ANOVA using SPSS PC+ 10.0 program. Results: Significant differences were found in self-confidence in maternal role performance, mother-infant interaction and infant physical growth between the two groups. This result indicate that the intervention program was effective in improving self-confidence in maternal role performance, mother-infant interaction and in facilitating infant physical growth. Conclusions: The prenatal parental role education program developed by the author was a very effective program in promoting maternal self-confidence, mother-infant interaction, and fostering infant's physical growth at 4 weeks after infant's birth.

Purpose: This study was designed to identify the structural relationships among psychosocial variables related to sick role behavioral compliance among patients undergoing hemodialysis. Methods: The subjects were 476 patients from seven major hospitals and twelve dialysis centers located in D and P cities. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires. Data analysis was done by using SPSS/WIN 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 programs for structural equation modeling, to estimate the hypothesized model. Results: This findings support that a modified path model is efficient and appropriate to explain sick role behavioral compliance among hemodialysis patients. These factors account for 80.1% of the variance of sick-role behavioral compliance among hemodialysis patients. The variables having direct effect on sick role behavioral compliance were knowledge related to hemodialysis, social support, attitude, self-efficacy and intention. Conclusion: The modified model explains the integration process of psychosocial and behavior variables for sick-role behavioral compliance among patients undergoing hemodialysis.

The duty of construction clients in WSH (Workplace Safety and Health) system was included in the amendment of Occupational Safety and Health Act (enforced on 16 January 2020), which was estimated the shift of paradigm in the prevention of construction accidents. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the analysis results of construction clients' role in the construction project, which were performed by authors over the recent years in order to impose the duty on construction clients, and to suggest their role according the plan, design, and construction stage. Utilizing the systematic literature review process based on Meta analysis, the related papers were selected. For the selected papers, related domestic and foreign regulations, and other prominent report, the construction clients' role was analyzed by reflecting the experts' advice. Results show that the construction clients should control the designer and contractor for implementing the WHS system during the whole process of the construction project. They should supply sufficient source and time to ensure the workers' safety. In the plan stage, the key role of construction clients is to identify intensively controlled hazard and risk reduction plan and to transfer the results. In the design stage, their key role is to select the designer with the capacity in WSH and to assist the designer for the safety design. The main key role of construction clients in the costruction stage is to select the contractor with specialty in WSH including a contract reflecting the WSH requirement and to check implementation of WSH plan, WSH cost, WSH education, and accident report. In addition, it is thought that the construction clients' participations in the site WSH activity and adjustment of safety and health problem among contractors can be effect in the prevention of construction accidents.

The purpose of this study was to explore the dynamics of stepfamilies and the adjustment difficulties such families may experience. The study describes some sociodemographic characteristics of a sample of 117 stepfamilies. The independent variables were stresses due to adjustment difficulties, which were defined as "role strains". Sociodemographic variables included gender, family income level, length of time since remarriage, type of stepfamily, and the existence of any children born to the new marriage. The dependent variable was the extent of stepfamily adjustment, expressed as a scale. The factors influencing family adjustment included stepparent gender, family income level, type of stepfamily, and various role strain variables (family boundary ambiguity, role conflict, etc.). Practical recommendations for social work are made and possibilities for future research in this area are discussed based on the results of this study.

The main objective of this study is to evaluate role-related job stressors of physical therapists and to examine the relationship between job stress and organizational effectiveness. A survey was conducted through structured questionnaire for the physical therapists working in Busan area, and data from 175 therapists were utilized in the final analysis. Survey items included general characteristics of the therapists(sex, age, education, marital status, religion, income, etc.), various kinds of job stressors(role conflict, role overload, role ambiguity, physical burden), and organizational effectiveness measured in terms of job satisfaction, organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior. Major results are as follows: 1) The level of physical therapists' job stress was found to be in average range, recording 2.65 on 4-point scale. 2) It appeared that main job stressors of physical therapists were role ambiguity and role overload, and this was more apparent in the case of younger, relatively less-educated, unmarried, and lower-grade employees. 3) On the other hand, in the case of relatively more-educated and higher-paid employees, role conflict was comparatively more important job stressor. 4) Regression analysis suggested that, as Job stress increased, job satisfaction and organizational commitment decreased; however, no significant relationship was found between job stress and organizational citizenship behavior. 5) These results imply that, in order to perform effective and efficient personnel administration of physical therapists, adequate job stress management would be very important task for the hospital managers.
