Strategy for the Seamless Mode Transfer of an Inverter in a Master-Slave Control Independent Microgrid

  • To enable a master-slave control independent microgrid system (MSCIMGS) to supply electricity continuously, the microgrid inverter should perform mode transfer between grid-connected and islanding operations. Transient oscillations should be reduced during transfer to effectively conduct a seamless mode transfer. This study uses a typical MSCIMGS as an example and improves the mode transfer strategy in three aspects: (1) adopts a status-tracking algorithm to improve the switching strategy of the outer loop, (2) uses the voltage magnitude and phase pre-synchronization algorithm to reduce transient shock at the time of grid connection, and (3) applies the hybrid-sensitivity $H_{\infty}$ robust controller instead of the current inner loop to improve the robustness of the controller. Simulations and experiments show that the proposed strategy is more practical than the traditional proportional-derivative control mode transfer and effective in reducing voltage and current oscillations during the transfer period.

  • In this paper, controller for PWM converter considering unsymetrical input voltage is designed and current controller using LQ controller with conditional integrator is proposed. And the proposed current controller is compared with other current controller-predictive controller, decoupling PI controller. As simulation results, LQ controller with Conditional Integrator shows the improved performance for DC link voltage regulation through transient test of load variation. And when unsymeritrical input voltage is applied to converter with conventional current controller considering only symetrical input voltage, input current is distorted but it is showed that current controller considering unsymetrical input has robust control characteristics under phase voltage unbalance.

  • This paper proposes a improved decoupling current control algorithms using a compensator to enhance the robustness to the stator inductance error. And the compensator composed from a d-axis current error for sensing change of the real stator inductance can match the estated stator inductance to the real stator inductance. A great advantage of this algorithms is more robust than feedforward decoupling current control or dynamic decoupling control. So it looks suitable to the practical applications where the exact parameters are unknown. Though simulation and experimental results with 1[kW] prototype PMSM and TMS320F2812 board for motor control, we show that the proposed controller achieves the desired performance.

  • In this paper, the design of a speed sensorless vector control system for induction motor is performed by using a new sliding mode technique based on current model flux observer. A current and flux observer based on the current estimation error is constructed. The proposed current observer includes a sliding mode function, which is derivative of the flux. That is, sliding mode observer which allows the estimation of both the rotor speed and flux based on the measurement of motor terminal quantities, would be proposed. And, a synergetic speed controller using the estimated speed signal is designed to stabilize the speed loop. Simulation results are presented to confirm the theoretical analysis, and to show the system performance with different observer gains and the influence of the motor parameter.

  • In order to establish the robust current controller design technique of series wound motor driver system. This paper proposes a method of compensated Bang-Bang current control using a series wound motor driver system under improperly variable load. Real time implementation of compensated Bang-Bang current controller achieved. Concept design strategy of the control and PWM waveform generation algorithms are presented in the paper.

  • A new implementation strategy for the flux weakening control of a Surface Mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (SPMSM) is proposed. It is implemented based on the output of the synchronous PI current regulator-reference voltage to PWM inverter. The onset of flux weakening and the level of the d-axis current are adjusted by the outer voltage regulation loop to prevent the saturation of the current regulator. The characteristics of this flux weakening scheme include no dependency on the machine parameters, the guarantee of current regulation on any operating condition, and fast transition into and out of the flux weakening mode. Experimental results at various operating conditions including 4-quadrant operation are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed control scheme.

  • This paper proposes an optimal design to improve the performance of the intake system by reducing the noise. We adapt the Taguchi method and column merging method for the above design. At the first stage of the design, the length and radius of each component of the current intake system are selected as control factors. Then the $L^{18}$ table of orthogonal array is used to get the effective main factors. At the second stage, the $L^{16}$ table of orthogonal array and the column merging method is combined to analyze subdivided significant factors. We know that the robust design with the column merging method provides better design for noise of intake system than the robust design itself.

  • This paper analyzes complex vector current control for the enhanced cross-coupling compensation in accordance with parameter variation in grid-connected inverter system, and verifies through simulation and experiment. Complex vector current control is performed in the synchronous reference frame through d-q transformation. It generates cross-coupling components with rotating nominal angular frequency. In general, cross-coupling elements are compensated by decoupling terms added to output of conventional decoupling PI controller. But, it is impossible to compensate them perfectly which transient response is especially deteriorated such as large overshoot and slow tracking, when variation of grid impedance or measurement error occurs. However, complex vector current control can improve stability and response characteristic of current control regardless of the situation as before. Decoupling controller and complex vector controller are represented through complex forms, and these controllers are analyzed by using frequency response in s-domain, respectively. It is verified that complex vector controller has more superior response characteristic than decoupling controller through MATALB, PSIM and experimental in 5kW grid-connected inverter when L filter parameter is varied from 1.1mH to increase double, 2.2mH.

  • This paper proposed a speed control system for induction motors robust to variations in torque and parameters by feedforward compensating the current portion of load torque, adding a load torque observer to the conventional PI controller in the indirect vector controlled induction motor system. Computer simulations and exeperimental works using the proposed control confirm that the transient response for the variation of the reference speed and load torque becomes improved, compared with the conventional PI controled method.

  • This thesis proposed a speed control system for induction motors robust to variations in torque and parameters by feedforward compensating the current portion of load torque, adding a load torque observer to the conventional PI controller in the indirect vector controlled induction motor system. In conclusion, this thesis demonstrate the improved transient characteristic to variations in reference speed and load torque, compared to the conventional PI control method, by means of the feedworward control of the estimated load torque.
