  • The speech recognition system can not quickly adapt to varied environmental noise factors that degrade the performance of recognition. In this paper, the echo noise robust HMM learning model using average estimator LMS algorithm is proposed. To be able to adapt to the changing echo noise HMM learning model consists of the recognition performance is evaluated. As a results, SNR of speech obtained by removing Changing environment noise is improved as average 3.1dB, recognition rate improved as 3.9%.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new speed control algorithm based on the least-order observer theory. The proposed system using the new algorithm can estimate the instantaneous speed accurately even at low speed by using a load torgue observer estimating the torgue component of indirect-vector controlled induction motor. Thus the stable characteristics of speed control are possible at low speed even in the case of using low-resolution rotary encoder. Also, the system becomes robust against disturbance by feedforward control the load torque estimated automatically at the speed observer.

  • Video fingerprints generated from global features are usually vulnerable against general geometric transformations. In this paper, a novel video fingerprinting algorithm is proposed, in which a new spatio-temporal gradient is designed to represent the spatial and temporal information for each frame, and a new partition scheme, based on concentric circle and rings, is developed to resist the attacks efficiently. The centroids of spatio-temporal gradient orientations (CSTGO) within the circle and rings are then calculated to generate a robust fingerprint. Our experiments with different attacks have demonstrated that the proposed approach outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in terms of robustness and discrimination.

  • This paper proposes PID and RIC (Robust Internal-loop Compensator) based motion controller using dual learning algorithm for position control of linear synchronous motor respectively. Its gains are auto-tuned by using two learning algorithms, reinforcement learning and neural network. The feedback controller gains are tuned by reinforcement learning, and then the feedforward controller gains are tuned by neural network. Experiments prove the validity of dual learning algorithm. The RIC controller has better performance than does the PID-feedforward controller in reducing tracking error and disturbance rejection. Neural network shows its ability to decrease tracking error and to reject disturbance in the stop range of the target position and home.

  • Edges are a robust feature for object detection. In this paper, we present an edge-based background modeling method for the detection of moving objects. The edges in the image frames were mapped using robust Canny edge detector. Two edge maps were created and combined to calculate the ultimate moving-edge map. By selecting all the edge pixels of the current frame above the defined threshold of the ultimate moving edges, a temporary background-edge map was created. If the frequencies of the temporary background edge pixels for several frames were above the threshold, then those edge pixels were treated as background edge pixels. We conducted a performance comparison with previous works. The existing edge-based moving-object detection algorithms pose some difficulty due to the changes in background motion, object shape, illumination variation, and noises. The result of the performance evaluation shows that the proposed algorithm can detect moving objects efficiently in real-world scenarios.

  • This paper studies the problem of precoding and post-coding design for multicell multiuser downlink transmissions in the absence of perfect channel state information (CSI). Using statistical information of imperfect CSI, an iterative multiuser multicell transceiver design is formulated by minimizing the mean squared error (MSE) cost function of signal and leakage interference under per-base station power constraint (PBPC). The convergence of the iterative precoding and postcoding algorithm is verified by analytical and empirical results. The proposed precoding and postcoding algorithm offers a low computational complexity and robustness against CSI imperfection.

  • This paper proposes the robust matching algorithm of the optical images. To do this, we propose two algorithms, that is, matching algorithms when the silhouette of images is detected and when it is not detected. Also, we propose the method for detecting the matching template and non-matching template from each optical image. And then, optical images are matched according to the coefficient of correlation represented by the similar degree between optical images. Finally, we show the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method through some experiments.

  • This paper's focus is in reducing the torque ripple and increasing the average torque by optimizing switching angles of 8/6 switched reluctance motor while implementing a robust speed controller in the outer loop. The mathematical model of the machine is developed and it is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink. An objective function and constraints are formulated and Optimum turn-on and turn-off angles are determined using Particle swarm optimization and Genetic Algorithm techniques. The novelty of this paper lies in implementing sliding mode speed controller with optimized angles. The results from both the optimization techniques are then compared with initial angles with one of them clearly being the better option. Speed response is compared with PID controller.

  • One of the most important problems in speech recognition is to detect the presence of speech in adverse environments. In other words, the accurate detection of speech boundary is critical to the performance of speech recognition. Furthermore the speech detection problem becomes severer when recognition systems are used over the telephone network, especially wireless network and noisy environment. Therefore this paper describes various speech detection algorithms for continuous digit recognition system used over wire/wireless telephone networks and we propose a algorithm in order to improve the robustness of speech detection using useful band selection under noisy telephone networks. In this paper, we compare some speech detection algorithms with the proposed one, and present experimental results done with various SNRs. The results show that the new algorithm outperforms the other speech detection methods.

  • This paper presents a $H_{\infty}$ robust controller with parameter estimation in polynomial approach. For good performance of a uncertain system, the parameters are estimated by RLS algorithm. The controller minimizes the sum of $H_{\infty}$ norm between sensitivity function and complementary sensitivity function by employing the Youla parameterization and polynomial approach at the same time. A numerical example and its simulation results are given to show the validity of the proposed controller.
