  • The nonlinear integro-differential equations of motion of a two-link structurally flexible planar manipulator executing contact tasks are presented. The equations of motion are derived using the extended Hamilton's principle and the Galerkin criterion. Also, Models for the wrist-force sensor and impact that occurs when the manipulator's end point makes contact withthe environment are presented. The dynamic models presented can be used to studythe dynamics of the system and to design controllers.

  • Robotic applications, such as automatic fish cutting, require online trajectory planning because the material properties of the object, such as the bone or flesh conditions, are not known in advance. Different trajectories are required when the material properties vary. An effective online trajectory-planning algorithm is proposed using quaternions to determine the position and orientation of a robot manipulator with a spherical wrist. Quaternions are free of representation singularities and permit computationally efficient orientation interpolations. To prevent singular configurations, the exact locations of the kinematic singularities of the PUMA 560 manipulator are derived and geometrically illustrated when a forearm offset exists and the third link length is not zero.

  • This paper deals with the robust controller design of robotic manipulator to track a desired trajectory in spite of the presence of unmodelled dynamics in cause of nonlinearity and parameter uncertainty. The approach followed in this paper is based on model reference adaptive control technique and convergence on hyperstability theory but it does away with assumption that process is characterized by a linear model remaining time invariant during adaptation process. A computer simulation has been performed to demonstrate the performance of the designed control system in task coordinates for stanford manipulator with payload and disturbances.

  • This paper presents an approach to the position control of a robot manipulator by using a self-tuning pole-placement controller with an inverse model. The linearized independent difference equations of manipulator motion are obtained, and the parameters of these models are estimated on line. The controller is composed of two parts, the primary controller obtains desired torques by using an inverse model and the secondary controller computes variational torques on the basis of induced perturbation equations by minimizing a quadratic criterion with a closed-loop pole-placement. Simulation is performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach.

  • Several optimum control algorithms have been proposed to minimize the robot cycle time by velocity scheduling. Most of these algorithms assume that the dynamic and kinematic characteristics of a manipulator are fixed. This paper presents the study of a minimum-time optimum control for robotic manipulators considering parameter changes. A complete set of solutions for parameter identification of the robot dynamics has been developed. The minimum-time control algorithm has been revised to be updated using estimated parameters from measurements.

  • In this paper, we propose a fuzzy-supervised nonlinear H$_{\infty}$ controller which guarantees the robustness and has exact tracking performance for robot manipulator with system parameter uncertainty and exogenous disturbance, The proposed controller which is based on robotic H$_{\infty}$ controller has fuzzy supervisor which decides the optimal control input weighting value through fuzzy making-decision process. Owing to the fuzzy supervisor, The proposed controller can take the optimal control input. Then, we will apply the proposed controller to rigid robot manipulator to verify the performance of our controller.r.

  • This paper presents a novel approach for controlling electrically driven robot manipulators based on voltage control. The voltage-based control is preferred comparing to torque-based control. This approach is robust in the presence of manipulator uncertainties since it is free of the manipulator model. The control law is very simple, fast response, efficient, robust, and can be used for high-speed tracking purposes. The feedback linearization is applied on the electrical equations of the dc motors to cancel the current terms which transfer all manipulator dynamics to the electrical circuit of motor. The control system is simulated for position control of the PUMA 560 robot driven by permanent magnet dc motors.

  • Adaptive control for robot manipulator controller has been considered as an effective approach because robot dynamic models contain the nonlinearities and uncertainties. This paper present an approach for the position and velocity control of a manipulator by using the seif-tuning type controller for each point. The complicated model manipulator system is modeled by a set of time series difference equation. The parameters of the models are determined by online recursive algorithms. Finally some remarks on the effectiveness and applications of adaptive controller are discussed.
