축광노면표시의 실내 및 현장 휘도 성능분석과 디지털이미지를 이용한 휘도분석 사전연구 (Performance Analysis of Laboratory and Field Luminance for Phosphorescent Line Marking and Preliminary Study of Luminance Analysis Using Digital Images)

  • OBJECTIVES : Visibility at night can be improved by using retroreflection for short distances and phosphorescent line markings for long distances. In this study, we analyzed the characteristics of the phosphorescent line marking through a laboratory luminance test. Field performance analysis was performed through tests conducted on the road. We also examined the luminance measurement methods using the digital image obtained during the phosphorescent visibility evaluation. METHODS : In this study, the laboratory luminance test of the phosphorescent line marking was conducted using seven specimens to characterize the luminance changes according to the type of the glass beads, the thickness of the phosphorescent line marking, and the brightness and irradiation time of the light source. Phosphorescent and general line markings were made at 150 m to investigate the field luminance performance. A preliminary review of the luminance measurement methods was made using a digital image from a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera. The measured luminance ratio of the general and the phosphorescent line markings was compared with the calculated luminance ratio using luminance analysis. RESULTS : Through the laboratory luminance test, it was seen that the change in luminance, which corresponds to the brightness of the light source, appears large but the influence of the thickness and irradiation time is low. The field performance test of the phosphorescent line marking conducted on the road involved measuring the luminance on the day the marking was made and 7 days after the marking was made. The luminance was found to be $190mcd/m^2$ at 30 min after sunset and approximately $10-12mcd/m^2$ 4h after sunset. The results of the luminance test were captured using a digital image for each time group. The luminance ratio of the phosphorescent line marking, when compared to that of the general line marking, showed a similar trend within a 13% maximum error. Additionally, when this luminance ratio is compared to the direct field measurement, it could be confirmed that the luminance ratio, as captured in the digital image, showed a similar tendency. CONCLUSIONS : 1) The change in luminance corresponding to the brightness of the light source is significant in comparison with that corresponding to the thickness and the irradiation time. In addition, the results of the field test for the phosphorescent line marking satisfied the phosphorescent fire protection standard. 2) We examined the validity of the luminance measurement method using a digital image and we concluded that the change in the luminance ratio shows a similar tendency in both the cases. The results can form the basis for luminance measurement methodology for the construction and maintenance of phosphorescent line markings.

낮은 도로 조명의 노면 휘도 실태 분석에 대한 연구 (The Study on the Analysis of Road Surface Brightness of Low Mounted Road Lighting System)

  • Low road lighting is a lighting device that complements the shortcomings of existing pillar-type street lights. It is a lighting device that emits light from the side of the road surface and adjusts the luminance of the road surface like a light carpet. In this paper, to achieve full commercialization, we analyzed the luminance of the installed road surface and studied whether lighting could replace existing road lighting. In this study, the LMK (Luminance Measurement Camera) LABSOFT program was used to measure and analyze the surface luminance of road lighting, and the RELUX program was used to evaluate and analyze the simulation performance to determine light-based lighting conditions. A study was conducted to determine whether replacing pillar-type road lighting with low-level road lighting in a real environment would ensure comfortable and safe night vision for drivers at night.

도로터널의 경계부 순응휘도 측정 및 분석 (Measurement and Analysis of Adaptation Luminance in the Threshold Zone of the Road Tunnel)

  • As the standard lighting required in the threshold zone of a road tunnel is determined by the enough contrast. Lighting design, therefore, must be determined by the calculation method of threshold luminance based on the adaptation luminance of the driver approaching the tunnel. The veiling luminance and the luminance in the access zone were measured at different time and in different weather using the veiling luminance method, a kind of perceived contrast methods, and the L20 method when the range of vision was 20 degrees. On the basis of the measured data each threshold luminance was calculated and its results were analyzed.

안드로이드 기반의 도로 밝기 측정 어플리케이션 구현 (A Road Luminance Measurement Application based on Android)

  • 최근 5년간의 주 야간별 교통사고 통계에 따르면 대부분의 자동차 교통사고는 주간보다 야간에 더 많이 발생했다. 교통사고는 다양한 원인으로 발생하게 되는데 그 중 중요한 요소는 조명 미설치 또는 조명 위치의 부적합으로 운전자의 시야 혼란을 야기하여 교통사고를 유발하게 된다. 본 논문은 부적절한 도로 조명 시설 위치와 미설치 구역을 파악하고 관련 정보들을 데이터베이스화 하였다. 이를 위해 운전자의 위치 정보, 주행 정보, 도로 밝기 정보를 스마트폰을 이용하여 실시간으로 데이터베이스 서버에 저장하는 도로 밝기 측정 어플리케이션을 설계 및 구현하였다. 본 어플리케이션은 안드로이드 NDK을 이용하여 Native C/C++ 환경에서 구현되었으며, 이에 따라 자바나 다른 언어로 작성된 어플리케이션 보다 연산속도를 향상시켰다. 도로 밝기를 측정하기 위하여 카메라 영상인 RGB 색 공간의 영상을 YCbCr 색 공간의 영상으로 변환하여 휘도를 측정한다. 이를 위해 먼저 차선을 검출하고 도로 밝기 검출 영역의 휘도 값을 계산하여 데이터베이스에 저장한다. 또한 스마트폰의 카메라를 이용하여 실시간으로 도로의 영상을 입력 받고 도로의 차선부분에 대한 관심영역을 지정하여 연산 속도를 향상시켰다. 관심영역의 영상은 Grayscale 영상으로 변환하고 Canny 에지 검출기를 사용하여 외곽선을 추출하고 Hough line transform을 적용하여 차선의 후보군을 선별한다. 선별된 후보 차선의 기울기를 계산하여 양쪽의 차선을 선정한다. 양쪽 차선이 검출되면 차선의 교차점으로부터 아래로 20픽셀의 높이를 가진 삼각형을 도로 밝기 측정범위로 설정한다. 삼각형 부분의 모든 픽셀에 대한 R, G, B값을 추출하여 Y값을 계산하고 픽셀 밝기 값의 평균을 0부터 100사이의 값으로 계산하여 검은색부터 초록색으로 도로의 밝기를 표현하였다. 계산된 60m 전방의 도로 밝기 값은 스마트폰의 GPS 센서를 통해 측정된 운전자의 주행 정보와 위치 정보를 획득하여 10분 간격으로 무선통신을 통해 데이터베이스 서버에 저장하였다. 향후 수집된 도로 밝기 정보들은 스마트폰 어플리케이션이나 차량 내비게이션을 통해 운전자들에게 조심 운전을 경고하거나 효율적인 도로 조명 관리를 위한 개보수 계획에 반영될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 본 논문에서는 2분할 수광 방식의 측정시스템을 이용하여 수도권 일대의 도로의 조도와 휘도분포를 측정하여 국내 도로조명 실태를 파악함으로써 조명시설들의 특징에 대하여 분석했다. 측정결과 대다수의 도로가 도로의 형태, 조명기구의 점등방식, 도로주변의 가로수 혹은 장애물 등의 영향으로 도로조명 허용기준을 만족시키지 못하고 있었다.

  • The purpose of luminance measurement in lighting design of urban scale is to prevent light trespass and light pollution, caused by over-bright. Specially, the illumination of road, tunnel and sports complex as urban infrastructure is measured by international standard for illuminance and luminance. It has been used the spot luminance meter and the image photometer to define the characteristics of qualitative and quantitative in exterior lighting. This study introduced the concept of HDR Image, procedure of HDR Image creation and analysis. Applications of HDR Image, particularly within the apartment building exterior lighting design analysis, have been demonstrated. The procedure proposed in this study is a affordable method that is useful for the assessment of luminance distribution in the scene with electric light. It also provides a measurement capability with the high resolution luminance data within a large field of view efficiently and quickly, which is not possible to achieve with a luminance meter.

도로터널 내/외부의 영상휘도 측정기 연구개발 (Research and development on image luminance meter of road tunnel internal and external)

  • 본 논문은 터널 조명 시스템을 적절하게 운영하기 위하여, 터널 내부/외부의 휘도를 측정하는 영상휘도계의 개발 내용을 소개한다. 터널을 측정하는 국제규격 CIE88의 L20법 및 광막법이 구현 가능하도록 개발하였으나 현재 주로 적용되는 L20법을 위주로 실험하였다. 독립적 운영을 위하여 컴퓨터가 내장되었으며 외부와는 이더넷 통신으로 연결된다. 내부에 자동 온도조절 기능과 앞면유리의 열선과 와이퍼 시스템이 구축되었다. 정확한 휘도 측정을 위하여 노출시간과 휘도량에 따른 비선형 특성을 보정하는 수식이 적용되었다. 개발된 휘도계의 공인기관 교정결과는 1%미만의 오차를 보여주었다. 개발된 휘도계를 이용하여 실제 터널에서 실험을 하였고, 실험결과 기준 휘도계측기들과 유사한 특성을 보였으며, 매우 안정적으로 작동함을 볼 수 있었다. 다만, 부분적 고휘도로 인한 센서 포화에 의한 측정오차를 해결하는 과제는 남아 있다.

  • 터널 경계구역 내의 필수 조명기준은 가시기준, 즉 충분한 물체의 대비에 의해 결정된다. 본 연구에서는 터널도로를 대상으로 주간의 터널 입구부의 배경을 디지털 카메라로 측정하고, 그 이미지를 감지대비법의 일종인 광막휘도법(Veiling Luminance Method)과 기존 $20^{\circ}$ 시야의 L20법에 적용하여 터널의 경계부 평균휘도를 산출하였으며, 그 결과를 비교, 분석하였다.

차선세척과 청소를 통한 고속도로 차선의 반사성능 변화 (Change in Reflection Performance of Highway Lanes Through Lane Washing and Sweeping)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this paper is to analyze the change in lane reflection performance through lane washing and sweeping on highway lanes. METHODS : This paper compared and analyzed the changes in lane reflection performance before and after lane washing and sweeping. The research method was as follows. First, we selected four research sites on the Gyeong-bu Highway. Second, the parameters affecting lane reflection performance are classified into luminance, brightness, and number of glass beads. Third, the change in reflection performance was measured after washing /sweeping at the same place after studying 60m of the unwashed/unswept area. Fourth, the measurement results were compared and analyzed before and after lane washing/sweeping. RESULTS : The results of this study are as follows. First, lane washing improved the luminance and brightness by 4.2~21.4% and 1.4~5.1%, respectively, and reduced the number of glass beads per wash by 0.2~1.2%. Second, lane sweeping improved the luminance and brightness by 2.3~8.5% and 0.8~2.3%, respectively, and reduced the number of glass beads per sweep by 0.8~4.9%. CONCLUSIONS : By comparing the results of lane washing and sweeping, it was found that compared to lane sweeping, lane washing improved the luminance and fewer glass beads were dropped.

터널조명 측정을 통한 조도와 휘도기반의 조명 비교 연구 (Comparison Research between Lighting Based on luminance and Illuminance through Measuring Tunnel Lighting)

  • Tunnel lighting design and operation are both regulated based on luminance in and out of Korea these days. However, domestic tunnel lighting is operated by internal lighting depending on external brightness by using an illuminometer applying the conversion factor on luminance. The purpose of tunnel lighting is to alleviate the visual shock occurring from the rapid change from external brightness to internal brightness when entering a tunnel. However, when looking at the tunnels operated based on an illuminometer, it is not a system where the driver can measure the brightness within his or her viewing angle when entering the tunnel. It is general to install and operate the illuminometer on the roof of an administrative office near the tunnel; however, this method is not structured to connect with the internal lighting by checking the brightness of the viewing scope of the driver, thus is not structured to properly apply the viewing conditions of the driver. Rather, it should be in a method for extracting the luminance value within the viewing scope of the driver pursuant to tunnel lighting standards and in connection with internal lighting. This research seeks to find the difference between operations based on luminance and operations based on intensity of Illuminance in road tunnels through field measuring, and to suggest the necessity of operating based on luminance with the resulting value.
