철도 건널목사고 위험도 평가 모델 개발 (Development of Risk Assessment Models for the Level-Crossing Accidents)

  • Generally a road vehicle's wrong entry into level crossing gives rise to hazardous events, the eventual collision with a approaching train depends on the effective operation of safety barriers such a abnormal condition detecting or emergency braking. In this paper, the risk assessment models developed for the level-crossing accidents will be introduced. The definition of hazardous events and the related hazardous factors are identified by the review of the accident history and engineering interpretation of the accident behavior. A probability of the hazardous events will be evaluated by the FTA, which is based on the accident scenario. For the severity estimation, the critical factors which can effect on the consequence will be reviewed during the ETA. Finally, the number of casualty for the public(vehicle drivers) and the train passengers are converted into an equivalent fatality.

  • On the road, geometric structure such as horizontal alignment, vortical alignment and crossing inclination ate important to explain characteristics of road and safety analysis. Especially, horizontal and vortical alignment are have to do with safety of covering. In existing road, for the safety analysis or alignment improvement and expansion pavement, it needs alignment factor of road. Alignment factor of road can be acquired by design drawing. But, design drawing can be not exist because of rack of facility management and national policy that centered to construction. And also, existing design drawing have a lot of differences in comparison with another existing design drawing cause of alignment improvement. In this case, for the precise analysis of alignment, 3-dimensional location information on the road centerline and acquisition of location information which related geometric structure are must to be preceded. In this study, therefore, it provide alignment factors which needed to alignment improvement and road safety analysis by acquisition of road space information and extraction of road centerline data using LiDAR data.

철도건널목 사고요인 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on Crash Causations for Railroad-Highway Crossings)

  • 철도건널목사고는 일반 도로사고보다는 상대적으로 사고의 발생도는 적으나, 사고의 심각도면에서는 대형사고로 연결될 수 있다는 점에서 철도건널목에서의 안전성 확보는 결코 소홀히 다루어질 수 없다. 본 연구에서는 건널목 사고모델을 통해 건널목 사고에 영향을 미치는 요인들은 분석하고 이를 정량화하여 교차로 안전성 향상에 기여하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 건널목사고 분석에 있어서 사고데이터 특성을 고려하여 비선형 회귀분석 중 적정 모델식을 적용하였다. 철도건널목 관련 변수들을 이용하여 분석한 결과, 분산값이 0에 가까운 값을 나타내어 포아송 회귀분석이 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 본 연구에서는 주 모델과 후보모델 통해 건널목 사고에 영향을 미치는 7개의 주요설명변수들을 규명했는데 그 변수들은 차량 교통량과 철도교통량, 상업지역, 제어거리, 경보시간차, 건널목유형, 과속방지턱으로 분석되었다.

도시공간구조 유형별 초등학교 통학로 실태 및 안전도 영향규명 연구 (An Investigation on Actual Condition and the Influence of Safety on Elementary School Road by Types of Urban Spatial Structure)

  • This Study aims at investigating actual condition on attending school road of children and analyzing empirically the characteristics of cognition and the influence of safety on school road. This study findings are as follows : 1) Walking alone to go to school is the highest rates among Commuting Mode, and Commuting distance to school is nearly doubles than range of school zone(300 m). 2) Among characteristics of urban spatial structure affecting on influence classify safety of school road, 'Commuting Distance' has been drawn to most influential variable. Especially, there are 4 types classified by commuting distance and it became obvious that the longer the distance, the lower the safety score(under 127 m=76.9 points, Over 451 m=58.3 points). 3) As a result of investigating the influence of Safety on attending school road, Vehicle commuting speed urder 127 m as internal of school zone, and Walking and crossing convenience over 451 m as external of school zone have a lot of influence on safety cognition on school road. Therefore Safety on school road should be considering the commuting distance to school among surrounding characteristics, needed for improvement plan and program based on real safety cognition of children.

  • Greater expansion and more frequent operation of the railroad transportation system anticipated due to its characteristics including low cost, safety and mass transportation. Recently, effects on the railway structures due to expansion of newly constructed road, construction of subway, city gas pipeline, communication network, electric power network and construction of other railway underground crossing in accordance with urban planning and organization has influenced safe operation of trains. Accordingly, standard for selection of construction method that will enable construction of more economical and rational subway underground crossing structures by preventing problems occurring at the time of above construction works and accidents in safe operation of trains due to construction in advance is definitively necessary. Although there are numerous construction methods that can be applied at the time of construction of railway underground crossing, there are much difficulties in selection of appropriate construction method that considers characteristics of each construction method on non-excavation type construction method, train operation plan of number of operational routes and on-site circumstances. Therefore, this research aims to present rational standard for selection of construction method for such, and standard for slowdown speed and interception of train when passing the areas of slowdown in sectors under construction.

가상 운전 시뮬레이터를 이용한 족동 조향 시스템의 운전 성능 평가 (Driving Performance Evaluation Using Foot Operated Steering System in the Virtual Driving Simulator)

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate driving performance of normal subjects for controlling the steering wheel by using foot operated steering devices in the driving simulator. Many people with complete bilateral loss or loss of use of upper limbs but with normal lower limbs are frequently left without use and/ or control of their hands, arms, or the upper extremities of their bodies. As a result, persons disabled in this manner have problems in operation an automobile because they cannot grasp and manipulate a conventional steering wheel. Therefore, if foot operated steering devices are used for controlling the vehicle on in people with disabilities, the disabled people could improve their community mobility by driving a car safely. Ten normal subjects were involved in this research to evaluate steering performance by using three types of steering devices(conventional steering wheel, pedal type foot steering, circular type foot steering) in driving simulator. STISim Drive 3 program was used for testing the driving performance in two road scenarios: straight road and curved road at low and high speed of vehicle (40 km/h and 80 km/h). This study used two-way ANOVA to compare the influences of two factors(type of foot steering device and road scenario) in the three dependent variables of steering performance(standard deviation of lateral position, the lateral position of vehicle and the number of line crossing). The average values of the three dependent variables(standard deviation of lateral position, lateral position and the number of line crossing) of driving performance were significantly smaller for conventional steering wheel or pedal type foot steering than circular type foot steering.

4가지 선회보조 장치가 운전 성능에 미치는 영향: 장애 유무와 운전면허 유무에 따른 비교 (Influence of Four Types of Steering Assistive Devices on Driving Performance: Comparison of Normal and Disabled People with and without Driver's License)

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate driving performance of Healthy and disabled groups (with or without driver's license) to control steering wheel by using steering assistive devices in the driving simulator. The persons with partial loss of use of all four limbs have problems in operation of the motor vehicle because of functional loss to operate steering wheel. Therefore, if steering assistive devices for grasping the steering wheel are used to control the vehicle on the road in persons with disabilities, the disabled persons can improve mobility in their community life by driving a motor vehicle safely. Ten healthy subjects (with or w/o driver's license) and ten subjects with physical disabilities (with or w/o driver's license) were involved in this study to evaluate driving performance to operate steering wheel by using four types of steering assistive devices (Single-pin, V-grip, Palm-grip, Tri-pin) in driving simulator. STISim Drive 3 software was used to test the steering performance in four scenarios: straight road at low and high speed of vehicle (40 km/h and 80 km/h), curved road at low and high speed of vehicle (40 km/h and 80 km/h). This study used two-way ANOVA in order to compare the effects of two factors (type of steering assistive device and subject group) in the three dependent variables of driving performance (the lateral position of vehicle, standard deviation of lateral position representing the variation of the left and right movement of the vehicle and the number of line crossing). The mean values of the three dependent variables (lateral position, standard deviation of lateral position, the number of line crossing) of steering performance were statistically significantly smaller for the healthy or disabled groups with driver's license than the other groups without driver's license on the curved road at high speed of vehicle compared to low speed of vehicle.

Factors Influencing Roadkill Hotspot in the Republic of Korea

  • Road structures play an important role in collisions involving vehicles and wildlife. Our study aimed to determine the effect of various types of road structures on the risk associated with roadkill. We surveyed 50 previously identified roadkill hotspots, ranked from one to five according to roadkill density. We collected nine types of road structure data on each hotspot road section. Structures with similar characteristics were grouped together, resulting in five categories, namely, median barrier, high edge barrier, low edge barrier, speed, and visibility. We examined the existence of each road structure category at each hotspot rank. The cumulative link model showed that the absence of bottom blocked median barrier increased the roadkill hotspot rank. Our study concluded that a visual obstacle in the middle of roads by the median barrier decreases wildlife road crossing attempts and roadkill risk. We suggest that future roadkill mitigation plans should be established considering these characteristics.

보행자 우선 출발신호의 적정 시간 산출 연구 (Study on the Appropriate Time for Leading Pedestrian Intervals)

  • 비보호좌회전 및 우회전 차량으로 인해 보행신호 시 보행자가 교통사고 위험에 노출되어 있는 신호교차로에서 보행자의 안전이 담보될 수 있는 교통신호체계에 대한 요구가 증가하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 비보호좌회전 및 우회전 차량과 보행자 상충 예방을 위한 보행자 우선 출발신호(leading pedestrian interval, LPI) 교통신호체계의 국내 도입에 따른 적정 운영방안을 수립하고자 한다. 이를 위해 객관적이고 현실성 있는 연구 수행을 위해 전문가와 일반인을 대상으로 보행자 우선 출발신호 도입이 필요에 대한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 국내 여건에 맞는 보행자 우선 출발신호 도입을 위한 현장 적용 조건을 수립하고 비보호좌회전 및 우회전 시범운영 대상지를 선정하여 산출된 보행자 우선 출발신호의 적정시간을 대상교차로에 적용하였다. 횡단보도 내 도착차량 속도 분석과 보행신호 위반율을 분석한 결과 보행신호 등화 시 횡단보도 내 도착차량 속도가 감소되었고, 보행신호 위반율이 개선되어 보행자가 보다 안전한 환경에서 보행하는 것이 현장에서도 확인되었다.

사고위치별 로지스틱 회귀 교통사고 모형 - 청주시 4지 신호교차로를 중심으로 - (Logistic Regression Accident Models by Location in the Case of Cheong-ju 4-Legged Signalized Intersections)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 사고위치별(유입부, 유출부, 교차로내 및 횡단보도) 로지스틱 회귀 교통사고 모형을 개발하는 것이다. 충북지방경찰청의 2004$\sim$2005년도 사고 자료와 현장조사 자료를 근거로, 교통사고와 관련된 기하구조 요소, 환경 요소 등이 분석되었다. 개발된 모형은 카이제곱 p 값은 0.000 그리고 Nagelkerke $R^2$값 0.363$\sim$0.819로 모두 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 분석된다. 개발된 모형의 공통 사고요인은 교통량, 횡단거리 및 좌회전전용차로이며, 특정변수는 교차로내 사고모형의 부도로 교통량, 그리고 횡단보도 사고모형의 주도로 U턴인 것으로 나타나고 있다. Hosmer & Lomeshow 검정은 유입부를 제외한 모형들은 p값이 0.05보다 크기 때문에 통계적으로 적합한 것으로 평가된다. 또한 정분류율 결과는 모든 모형식이 73.9% 이상으로 높은 예측력을 보이는 것으로 분석된다.
