This paper describes a method of tracking a close leading vehicle by color image processing using the pairs of tail and brake lights. which emit red light and are housed on the rear of the vehicle in stop-and-go traffic condition. In the color image converted as an HSV color model. candidate regions of rear lights are identified using the color features of a pair of lights. Then. the pair of tailor brake lights are detected by means of the geometrical features and location features for the pattern of the tail and brake lights. The location of the leading vehicle can be estimated by the location of the detected lights and the vehicle can be tracked continuously. It is also possible to detect the braking status of the leading vehicle by measuring the change in HSV color components of the pair of lights detected. In the experiment. this method tracked a leading vehicle successfully from urban road images and was more useful at night than in the daylight. The KAV-Ill (Korea Autonomous Vehicle- Ill) equipped with a color vision system implementing this algorithm was able to follow a leading vehicle autonomously at speeds of up to 15km!h on a paved road at night. This method might be useful for developing an LSA (Low Speed Automation) system that can relieve driver's stress in the stop-and-go traffic conditions encountered on urban roads.

In ubiquitous environment, sensor networks that sense and transmit surrounding data without human intervention will become more important. If sensors are installed for detecting vehicles and measuring their speed in the road and that real-time information is given to drivers, it will be very effective for enhancing safety and controlling traffic in the road. In this paper, we proposed a new reliable and real-time sensor MAC protocol between AP and sensor nodes in order to provide real-time traffic flow information based on ubiquitous sensor networks. The proposed MAC allocates one TDMA slot for each sensor node on the IEEE 802.15.4 based channel structure, introduces relayed communication for distant sensors, and adopts a frame structure that supports retransmission for the case of errors. In addition, the proposed MAC synchronizes with AP by using beacon and adopts a hybrid tracking mode that supports economic power consumption according to various traffic situations, We implemented a simulator for the proposed MAC by using sim++ and evaluated various performances. The simulation results show that the proposed MAC reduces the power consumption and reveals excellent performance in real-time application systems.
PURPOSES : The new waste management policy of South Korea encourages the recycling of waste materials. One material being recycled currently is tire-derived fuel (TDF) ash. TDF is composed of shredded scrap tires and is used as fuel in power plants and industrials plants, resulting in TDF ash, which has a chemical composition similar to that of the fly ash produced from coal. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the properties of an asphalt concrete mix that used TDF ash as the mineral filler. METHODS : The properties of the asphalt concrete were evaluated for different mineral filler types and contents using various measurement techniques. The fundamental physical properties of the asphalt concrete specimens such as their gradation and antistripping characteristics were measured in accordance with the KS F 3501 standard. The Marshall stability test was performed to measure the maximum load that could be supported by the specimens. The wheel tracking test was used to evaluate the rutting resistance. To investigate the moisture susceptibility of the specimens, dynamic immersion and tensile strength ratio (TSR) measurements were performed. RESULTS : The test results showed that the asphalt concrete containing TDF ash satisfied all the criteria listed in the Guide for Production and Construction of Asphalt Mixtures (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, South Korea). In addition, TDF ash exhibited better performance than that of portland cement. The Marshall stability of the asphalt concrete with TDF ash was higher than 7500 N. Further, its dynamic stability was also higher than that listed in the guide. The results of the dynamic water immersion and the TSR showed that TDF ash shows better moisture resistance than does portland cement. CONCLUSIONS : TDF ash can be effectively recycled by being used as a mineral filler in asphalt, as it exhibits desirable physical properties. The optimal TDF ash content in asphalt concrete based on this study was determined to be 5%. In future works, the research team will compare the characteristics of asphalt concrete as function of the mineral filler types.

By the expanding of infrastructure caused by urbanization, new technologies are required to manage various kinds of facilities. GIS has been appraised as valuable technology for facilities management since the 1990s. Therefore, the long and mid term GIS construction plan has been established by the national government and the local government. Some facilities management systems have been built and developed for suppling user-friendly functions. From this point of view, the information system based on the video sequences is considered a more effective way to improve the defects of conventional GIS using the digital map or the image as the base map. Using the video sequences as a base map, the availability of the system ill be increased because the real world information can be furnished to the users. In this study, through the connection between the GIS data, the digital map and the attribute data, and the video sequences taken from the airship using the video geo-referencing and the object tracking, we developed the facilities management system as a prototype which can effectively manage the road utilities. We also presented potentialities of the suggested system for facility management based on the video sequences.

Recently, there are interested in the automatic traffic flowing and accident detection using various low level information from video in the road. In this paper, the automatic traffic flowing and algorithm, and application of traffic accident detection using traffic management systems are studied. To achieve these purposes, the spatio-temporal relation models using topological and directional relations have been made, then a matching of the proposed models with the directional motion verbs proposed by Levin's verbs of inherently directed motion is applied. Finally, the synonym and antonym are inserted by using WordNet. For the similarity measuring between proposed modeling and trajectory of moving object in the video, the objects are extracted, and then compared with the trajectories of moving objects by the proposed modeling. Because of the different features with each proposed modeling, the rules that have been generated will be applied to the similarity measurement by TSR (Tangent Space Representation). Through this research, we can extend our results to the automatic accident detection of vehicle using CCTV.
This paper is proposed to algorithm for measuring traffic information automatically, for example, volume count, speed and occupancy rate, from CCTV camera images installed on highway, add to function of image detectors which can be collected the traffic information. Recently the method of traffic informations are counted in lane one by one, but this manner is occurred critical errors by occlusion frequently in case of passing larger vehicles(bus, truck etc.) and is impossible to measure in the 8 lanes of highway. In this paper, installed the detection area include with all lanes, traffic informations are collected using tracking algorithm with passing vehicles individually in this detection area, thus possible to detect all of 8 lanes. The experiment have been conducted two different real road scenes for 20 minutes. For the experiments, the images are provided with CCTV camera which was installed at Kiheung Interchange upstream of Kyongbu highway, and video recording images at Chungkye Tunnel. For image processing, images captured by frame-grabber board 30 frames per second, $640{\times}480$ pixels resolution and 256 gray-levels to reduce the total amount of data to be interpreted.

Intelligent Transport Systems (Intelligent Transportation System: ITS) is a system for inducing a flow of ideal car for using the most advanced technology, it is determined the status of the road, and take appropriate action. In order to be measured at various time points, and is managed, the information about the traffic situation is used image using a computer mainly. The image processing using a computer, it is an easy way to collect parameters of the various traffic in real time, technology has developed more and more. Vehicle detection of transport parameters of intelligent transportation system is a very important technology basically. Therefore, technology detection method using car background images and the contour line extraction method using an edge is used, however, problems have been raised on the accuracy of the detection rate.
Recently, followed by rapid growth of robotics field, multi-linkage mechanism which can even pass by rough road is getting lots of attention. In this paper, I focused on Jansen mechanism. It's a kinematics object which is named after Dutch artist Theo jansen. Jansen mechanism embraces structure and mechanism which creates locomotion with the combination of the power and simple structure. Theo jansen suggests a 'Holy number'. It's an ideal ratio of leg components length. However, if there's desired gait locomotion, you have to adjust the ratio and the length. But even slight change of the length could cause a big change at the end-point. To solve this problem, I suggest a reverse engineering method to get a ratio of each links by nonlinear optimization with pre-set desired trajectory. First, we converted a movement of the joint of Jansen mechanism to vectors by kinematics analysis of multi-linkage structure. And we showed the trajectory at the end-point. After that, we set desired trajectory which we found most ideal. Then we got the length of the leg components which draws a trajectory as same as trajectory we set, using Multi-objective genetic algorithm toolbox in MATLAB. Result is verified by Edison designer and mSketch. And we analyzed if it could pass through the obstruction which is set dynamically.
