In national water quality policy, it changed previous regulation method that focuses on concentration of pollutants in effluent water to the way that regulates total amount of pollutants. The target of water quality in watershed of each river was set up, as the government instituted Total Maximum Daily Loads(TMDL). In order to accomplish successfully TMDL, it requires that the amount of pollutant loads discharged from point and nonpoint pollutant source should be investigated. This study, therefore, conducted the monitoring of the stormwater runoff at field region in farming area. And pollutants loads and unit loads discharged from field region results is calculated. As a result, the concentration of pollutants were calculated as follows: 10.5 BOD mg/L, 19.6 $COD_{Mn}$ mg/L, 4.5 TN mg/L and 2.4 TP mg/L. The unit load of BOD, $COD_{Mn}$, TOC, TSS, TN and TP discharged from field region, also, were determined to $31.8kg/km^2/yr$, $56.7kg/km^2/yr$, $8.5kg/km^2/yr$, $560.9kg/km^2/yr$, $8.3kg/km^2/yr$ and $5.1kg/km^2/yr$, respectively. It was identified that there were some differences of unit loads between the results obtained from this study and previous one. To calculate exact unit loads, therefore, long term monitoring should be conducted.
The QUAL-II E Model was applied to predict the water quality of the Mankyong drainage System, and lead to following conclusion. 1. The difference between computed and measured BOD at the M-3 (Bakgugeong) station was within 10%, indicating that the application of the QUAL-IIE Model for the prediction of water quality was satisfactory thus far. 2. The application of the model states that the discharge of concentrated pollutants at the M-1 station on the Jeonju stream, located 41Km upstream from the estuary, causes the worst problems. The sluice which extends residence time and enlarges watery surface improves water quality by a Self-purification process at the M-3 station, 28km upstream from the estuary. 3. The accuracy of the model diminished when this model was applied on the estuary downstream of the sluice. Hence, the application of the model on the estuary needs to be used with caution. 4. Among the conputed water quality parameters, BOD is the worst problem. At the M-3 station, BOD is computed to be 26.6 mg/1 in 1996, 30.7 mg/1 in 2,001, 33.0 mg/l in 2006, and 37.5 mg/1 in 2011. When preventive measures against water pollution are not properly exercised, severe problems in irrigation and water resources are expected. This study will be of used in the selection of irrigation water intake points, the criteria of effluent treatment, the management of water resources, and the establishment of water quality managemont policy.
In the 1990s, when the viewpoint that an ecosystem is a single network within a specific region was adopted, the preservation and management of natural ecosystems was proposed. With regard to Northeast Asia, the expansion of trans-boundary pollution due to rapid development and the swift destruction of the natural environment emphasize the necessity for environmental cooperation. The Northeast Asia region made up of South Korea, North Korea, three northeastern prefectures in China, the Russian far-east, and parts of Mongolia were selected to be analyzed for an ecological network. The significance of this study lies in the development of a methodology for building a Northeast Asian ecological network through the use of satellite images. Regarding the methods of analysis, stable habitats for four priority species were selected to be performed using overlay analysis. The result of the analysis of the ecological networks in the whole Northeast Asia region showed that there were key areas partly dispersed in the Korean Peninsula, but whether the key areas would be maintained in the long term is unknown. As for China, key areas were concentrated in the border areas around the Tumen River and in parts of the three northeastern prefectures. Russia had wide-ranging areas that could function as stable habitats for most species. As a result of the actual conditions of the ecological networks, most of the Northeast Asia region, including the Korean Peninsula, was in poor condition, requiring appropriate measures and their operation as soon as possible. Also, it was revealed that further investigation and research was necessary for border areas that were identified to be key areas.
In this study, it was proposed that extension techniques of 8 day interval recorded stream-flow data which has been produced at the mouth of unit watersheds for TMDLs to daily one. The concept of this method was that the missing data at partial recording station was filled by using the daily data at a nearby, hydrologically similar streamgaging station. First, same day stream-flow was extracted from the daily stream-flow. Then, the extension equation was developed based on the sample data when the same day stream-flow from daily data and the partially recorded stream-flow was deeply related each other. The missing data was interpolated or extrapolated by the equation. Especially the maintenance of variance extension (MOVE) technique was used to derive the equation and was validated. Finally the 8-day interval recorded stream-flow at the mouth of unit watersheds in Han River Basin for TMDLs was extended to continuously daily data by using the method proposed in this study. And the low flow at each unit watershed was evaluated according to the flow-duration curve.

Groundwater in the Waikatoregion is a valuable resource for agriculture, water supply, forestry and industries. The 434,000 ha study area comprises the upper Waikato River catchment from the outflow of Lake Taupo (New Zealand's largest lake) through to Lake Karapiro (a man-made hydro lake with high recreational value) (Figure 1). Water quality in the area is naturally high. However, there are indications that this quality is deteriorating as a result of land use intensification and deforestation. Compounding this concern for decision makers is the lag time between land use changes and the realisation of effects on groundwater and surface water quality. It is expected that the effects of land use changes have not yet fully manifested, and additional intensification may take decadesto fully develop, further compounding the deterioration. Consequently, Environment Waikato (EW) have proposed a programme of work to develop a groundwater model to assist managing water quality and appropriate policy development within the catchment. One of the most important and critical decisions of any modelling exercise is the choice of the modelling platform to be used. It must not inhibit future decision making and scenario exploration and needs to allow as accurate representation of reality as feasible. With this in mind, EW requested that two modelling platforms, MODFLOW/MT3DMS and FEFLOW, be assessed for their ability to deliver the long-term modelling objectives for this project. The two platforms were compared alongside various selection criteria including complexity of model set-up and development, computational burden, ease and accuracy of representing surface water-groundwater interactions, precision in predictive scenarios and ease with which the model input and output files could be interrogated. This latter criteria is essential for the thorough assessment of predictive uncertainty with third-party software, such as PEST. This paper will focus on the attributes of each modelling platform and the comparison of the two approaches against the key criteria in the selection process. Primarily due to the ease of handling and developing input files and interrogating output files, MODFLOW/MT3DMS was selected as the preferred platform. Other advantages and disadvantages of the two modelling platforms were somewhat balanced. A preliminary regional groundwater numerical model of the study area was subsequently constructed. The model simulates steady state groundwater and surface water flows using MODFLOW and transient contaminant transport with MT3DMS, focussing on nitrate nitrogen (as a conservative solute). Geological information for this project was provided by GNS Science. Professional peer review was completed by Dr. Vince Bidwell (of Lincoln Environmental).

In 2019, about 134 million ㎥ of aggregate was produced in an estimated 880 quarries and pits in 17 metropolitan governments. Leading producing metropolitan cities were Gyeonggi-do, Gyeongsangnam-do, Chungcheongbuk-do, Gangwon-do, Gyeongsangbuk- do, Chungcheongnam-do, in order decreasing volume, which together accounted for about 71% of total product. Of the total domestic aggregates produced in 2019, about 31 % was sand and about 69% was gravel. It estimated that of the 134 million ㎥ of aggregates in Korea in 2019, about 50.3% was produced by screening crushed aggregate by 41.4% by forest aggregate, 3.3% by land aggregate, 1.7% by sea aggregate and 1.7% by washing each other, and 0.7% by river aggregate. This indicates that screening crushed aggregate and forest aggregate are the main producers of domestic aggregates. The most crushed and forest aggregate was extracted at the Gyeonggi-do and Gyeongsangnam-do, respectively. Land aggregate was mainly extracted at Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gangwon-do. Therefore, in the future supply and demand of aggregate resources, it is judged that there should be a primary policy direction for screening crushed and forest aggregate.
This study analyzed how the literary works embodying nurses accommodate various discourses about nurses and reproduce them in literature. The subject of analysis is a Korean modern novel featuring a nurse, and 29 works were selected from 1927 to 2016. The analysis method is the content analysis of the novel among the qualitative research methods. The unit of analysis adopts a narrative or dialogue that deals with the image of a nurse in a novel as a unit of analysis, The image determining factors of previous studies were integrated and categorized into 4 types and considered. As a result of analyzing the image of a nurse in the novel, First, traditional image types include Lee Kwang-soo 『Love』, Kim Eui-jung 『Doctor Han』, Jo Jung-rae 『Han River』, Gong Ji-young's 「Field of Stars」, Baek Min-seok 「Poor Little Hans」 Second, social image types include Kang Kyung-ae 「Dark」, Kim Kyung-wook 「Heaven's Gate」, Choi Jeong-hee 「Cheonmaek」 Third, professional image types include Lee Cheong-jun 「Mr. Jo Man-deuk」, 「Discharge」, Choi In-hoon 『The Square』, Kim Yeon-soo 「The Night in the Tunnel Where I Listened to Jusaeng Tudipini」, Jeong Se-lang 『Public health teacher Ahn Eun-young』and Fourth, personal image types include Choi In-ho 「Apprentice Patient」, Kim Jeong-han 「The Third Ward」, Eun Hee-kyung 『Minor League』, Hoon Kim 「Hwajang」, Ha Seong-ran 「The Joy of Eating」, Kim Ji-yeon 「Hippocrates Love Song」, Park Kyung-ri 「Era of Distrust」, Jeong Mi-kyung 「The Lady of Arsenal」 typed as. Although drought is a natural phenomenon, its damage occurs in combination with regional physical and social factors. Especially, related to the supply and demand of various waters, drought causes great socio-economic damage. Even meteorological droughts occur with similar severity, its impact varies depending on the regional characteristics and water supply system. Therefore, this study assessed regional drought risk considering regional socio-economic factors and water supply system. Drought hazard was assessed by grading the joint drought management index (JDMI) which represents water shortage. Drought vulnerability was assessed by weighted averaging 10 socio-economic factors using Entropy, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), and Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM). Drought response capacity that represents regional water supply factors was assessed by employing Bayesian networks. Drought risk was determined by multiplying a cubic root of the hazard, vulnerability, and response capacity. For the drought hazard meaning the possibility of failure to supply water, Goesan-gun was the highest at 0.81. For the drought vulnerability, Daejeon was most vulnerable at 0.61. Considering the regional water supply system, Sejong had the lowest drought response capacity. Finally, the drought risk was the highest in Cheongju-si. This study identified the regional drought risk and vulnerable causes of drought, which is useful in preparing drought mitigation policy considering the regional characteristics in the future.

In this study, monthly water use data were collected for 5 years from the 65 local governments included in the Han-river basin and a typical water usage ratios and patterns were calculated. The difference in water shortage was compared by considering the water usage patterns using the water balance and budget analysis model (MODSIM) and data base. As a result, it was confirmed that the change occurred in the range of -3.120% to +4.322% compared to the monthly constant ratio by period. In addition, when applying the patterns in the water balance model, 17 of the 28 middle watershed showed changes in the quantity of water shortage and the domestic and industrial water shortage would decrease about 8.0% during the maximum drought period. If it is applied in conjunction with predictive research on water usage patterns reflecting climate change, social and regional characteristics in the future, it will be possible to establish a more realistic water supply forecasts and a reliable national water resources plan.
