An experimental study was carried out to analyse the explosion characteristics of flammable gas-air mixtures. Used flammable gases were hydrogen, methane, acethylene, ethylene and pro-pane, explosion Pressure, explosoin pressure rising rate, and flame propagation velocity were measured experimentaly. The maximum explosion pressure and rising rate of flammmalbe gas air mixtures were appeared at the range of slightly higher concentration than the stoichiometric concentration. Initial pressure before explosion was controlled from 0.6 to 2.0kg/cm absolutly. Explosion pressure was increased with increment of the initial pressure, and the relationship between initial pressure and explosion pressure was Pe = KPi. The effect of vessel size on explosion characteristics was also analysed In this experiment. Explosion pressure was increased with in-creasing the vessel size, otherwise explosion pressure rising rate was decreased. When we locate a dummy material in vessel explosion pressure was decreased with increasing the dummy volume but exlosion pressure rising rate was increased.
To develop the removal technique of algal bloom the efficiencies of algal flocculation/ autoflotation by the kinds of coagulant and oversaturated oxygen concentration were investigated. The summarized results are as follow. 1. In the algae flocculation test with alum[$Al_2(SO_4)_3{\cdot}18H_2O$], optimum pH was 5.5 and, with chitosan optimum pH was 7.0. 2. Chitosan which was natural polymer showed the 5~10 times higher algal biomass flocculation efficiency than alum in the condition of same algal concentration. 3. For the each coagulant, the higher ${\Delta}DO$(oversaturated dissolved oxygen concentration - saturated dissolved oxygen) was, the faster the rising velocity of the algal floc was. 4. In the condition of about 4mg/L ${\Delta}DO$, the rising velocity of chitosan is about 2 times higher than that of alum, and chitosan formed the stronger algal floc.
A fluidized bed combustion chamber is widely used to incinerate waste material. The most important factor designing the incinerator is the flow characteristics in a fluidized bed, because combustion efficiency is influenced by the flow characteristics. This paper has invesitigated the flow characteristics of bubbles in fluidized bed by means of meassuring a pressure fluctuation in the fluidized bed. A pressure probe system has used to measure the pressure. The data concerned with bubble rising velocity, bubble size, distribution of bubbles and frequency of bubble generation or decay are obtained to find the flow characteristics of bubbles in the fluidized bed. The result obtained from this experimental study can be used to design the fuel feeding system of fluidized bed combustion type incinerator. And it is possible to predict the mixing of waste material and fluidizing material.

The most important and difficult part in the problem of unsteady seepage is, how to analyze a position and variation of free water level. Therefore, this paper found the relation between the rising water level and infiltration in the embankment by analyzing established equations and extrapolated the empirical equations from experimental data (For the seepage velocity; $V_S=Ki=k\frac{H-d_1}{d}$, For the rising velocity level; $V_R=\frac{dH}{dt}$) With the aid of these data, the necessary equations were compared with the experimental analyses.
The characteristics of upward bubble flow were experimentally investigated in a liquid bath. In the present study, a thermal-infrared camera and high speed CCO camera were used to measure their temperature and local rising velocity, respectively. Heat transfer from bubble surface to water is largely completed within z=10mm from the nozzle, and then the temperature of bubble surface reaches that of water rapidly. The rising velocity of bubble was calculated for two different experimental conditions: 1) bubble flow without kinetic energy 2) with kinetic energy. Bubble flow without kinetic energy starts to undergo the effect of inertia force 10cm away from the nozzle. Whereas, kinetic energy is dominant before 30 cm away from the nozzle in bubble flow, but after this point, kinetic energy and inertial force are applied on bubble flow at the same time.
Characteristics of bubble driven wakes were investigated in a simulated GTL process(0.102 m ${\times}$ 1.5 m in height) with viscous liquid medium. Effects of gas velocity(0.04 ~ 0.12 m/s) and liquid viscosity(0.001 ~ 0.050 $Pa{\cdot}s$) on the wake characteristics such as rising velocity, frequency, size and holdup were determined by employing a resistivity probe method. The wake phase formed behind the rising multi-bubbles as well as single bubbles were detected effectively from the conductivity fluctuations measured by the probe. Compressed, filtered and regulated air and aqueous solutions of Carboxy Methyl Cellulose(CMC) were used as a dispersed gas phase and a continuous liquid medium, respectively. It was found that the rising velocity and size of wake phase increased with an increase in gas velocity or liquid viscosity. The holdup and frequency of wake phase increased with increasing gas velocity due to the increase of gas input into the process with increasing gas velocity. However, the values of holdup and frequency of wake phase decreased with increasing liquid viscosity, since the size of bubbles and thus that of wakes increased with increasing liquid viscosity. The ratio of wake holdup to that of gas phase, which was in the range of 0.25 ~ 0.48, increased with an increase in liquid viscosity but decreased with gas velocity. The wake characteristics were well correlated in terms of operating variables within this experimental conditions.

In general, a method for generating irregular wave by combination of component waves obtained from linear wave theory is widely used. In these method, however, mean water surface elevation is rising from time to time because of nonlinear effect of wave. In this study, for the rising problem of mean water surface elevation and stabilization of calculation from time to time, mass transport velocity for horizontal velocity at wave source position is considered. The rising problem of mean water surface elevation is checked by comparing calculated wave profile from numerical technique proposed in this study with target wave profile at wave source position in numerical wave tank by using CADMAS-SURF code. And, by generating irregular wave, the validity of wave overtopping rate estimated from this numerical analysis is discussed by comparing computed results with measured results in hydraulic model experiments for vertical seawall located on a sloping sea bottom. As a results, the computations are validated against the previously experimental results by hydraulic model test and numerical results of this study and a good agreement is observed. Therefore, numerical technique of this study is a powerful tool for estimating wave overtopping rate over the crest of coastal structure.
The study of coking technology to upgrade oil sand bitumen which is considered as alternative fuel was performed by using thermogravity analyzer and delayed coking reactor(600ml). To analyzed and compared coking characteristics of oil sand bitumen, the reactivities of oil sand bitumen were measured in the TGA. At the temperature conditions of $400{\sim}550^{\circ}C$ and the temperature rising velocity of $50^{\circ}C/min$. the termination time of coking reaction and conversion efficiencies increased with an increase of bed temperature. However the increase rate decreased over $450^{\circ}C$. So the coking reaction with oil sand bitumen might be over $450^{\circ}C$. Also the termination time decreased with increasing the temperature rising velocity. But the content of coke increased with increasing temperature rising velocity. At the experiments in the delayed coker, the temperature condition at maximum oil yield was $475^{\circ}C$ and the fuel properties of oil from coking reaction was almost equal with conventional diesel. It was verified that the coking process might be useful process to upgrade the oil sand bitumem by using API and SIMDAS.
A visualization study to evaluate bubble motion in a tab water filled cylindrical tank with a varying flow rate of compressed air is conducted. The flow rate of compressed air varies from 1 to 5 L/min. Time resolved images are acquired by a high speed camera in 10 bit gray level at 100 fps and the measurement volume is irradiated by a 230 W halogen lamp. It is observed that there are three different regions; the bubble formation region, the rising bubble region and the free surface region. During the rise of bubble, the shape is changed as if an elastic body. Based on the binarized bubble image, the mean diameters of rising bubbles are estimated at beneath of the free surface. As the gas flow rate increases, the mean diameter is increased and the rising velocity also increases with buoyancy force.
The motion of a rising liquid droplet is different that of a bubble motion. Treatment of liquid drops is more complex because internal motion must be considered. A 3D unstructured CFD code has been developed to solve incompressible N-S equation for the droplet simulation. This front-tracking consideration which the interface is tracked explicitly is very available to apply for not only exact interface topology but also the high schmidt number issue, such as $CO_2$ dissolution. This paper is forced on the zig-zag motion of the liquid droplet. The simulation shows that if the rising droplet is located at the corner of the zig-zag path, the velocity is low and shape of the droplet is more spherical shape, results in the less drag coefficient. Twin horse shoe vortexes behind the rising droplet are presented and the topology of the droplet is compared with an experimental result during one period of the path.
