  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to research the Left-Renying and Right-Qikou pulse diagnosis. Methods : We set up locations of the Renying pulse(人迎脈) and the Qikou pulse(氣口脈) on left hand and right hand. On the basis of the medical texts and papers, we researched the relations between the Left-Renying and Right-Qikou pulse diagnosis and the etiological factors(病因), background of appearance of the Left-Renying and Right-Qikou pulse diagnosis, and practical use of medical practitioners of many generations to the Left-Renying and Right-Qikou pulse diagnosis. Results & Conclusions : The Left-Renying and Right-Qikou pulse diagnosis is a method to diagnosis the etiological factors, while it could also be assumed as a tool to apply herbal medicine. This assumption could be made based on the seventh volume of 『Maijing(脈經)』 of Wang Shuhe(王叔和). Chen Wuze(陳無擇) emphasized its function to distinguish etiological factors in 『Sanyinjiyibingzhengfanglun(三因極一病證方論)』, as did Li Dongyuan(李東垣) in 『Neiwaishangbianhuolun(內外傷辨惑論)』. Meanwhile, the connection between Left-Renying and Right-Qikou pulse diagnosis and Zangfu(臟腑) seems to have first been made in 『Maiyu(脈語)』 of Wu Kun(吳昆), while 『Zhenjiazhengyan(診家正眼)』 of Li Zhongzi(李中梓) shows traces of progress since the 『Maiyu』.

  • Objectives : This study reports a 42-year old female inpatient who visited for recurrent herpes zoster on the right hand and right side of the face on 5 days after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination. She already had 2 times of herpes zoster prior to this outbreak. Methods : During 10 days of hospitalization, both treatments were simultaneously applied to her. For Korean medical treatment, acupuncture, herbal medicine including Sipjeondaebo-tang, and Hominis Placenta pharmacopuncture were mainly used. Collaborating with internal medicine of our hospital, essential medications for herpes zoster including antihistamine, corticosteroid, and acyclovir were administered. To assess symptoms, taking photos and numerical rating scale(NRS) were used. Results : On the 3rd day of hospitalization, erythema on the right hand disappeared. On the 4th day, discomfort arisen by zoster lesions dropped from NRS 8, which was initially evaluated, to NRS 0. Facial lesion also steadily improved. At the moment of discharge, erythema on the right side of oral angle disappeared and mild traces of vesicular lesions remained on the right hand. Conclusions : Considering her medical history, the recent recurrent herpes zoster was suspected as an adverse event of COVID-19 vaccination. Unlike general course of herpes zoster, the skin lesions and discomfort were rapidly improved owing to the collaborated treatment during the 10 days. This study may be the first literature on herpes zoster following COVID-19 vaccination in Korea.

  • In this paper, we propose to analyze the physical characteristics of a planar dual-composite right-left handed transmission line by a common application of Bond Graph approach and Scattering formalism (Methodology S.BG). The technique, we propose consists, on the one hand, of modeling of a dual composite right-left metamaterial transmission line (D-CRLH-TL) by Bond Graph approach, and, it consists of extracting the equivalent circuit of this studied structure. On the other hand, it consists to exploiting the scattering parameters (Scattering matrix) of the DCRLH-TL using the methodology which we previously developed since 2009. Finally, the validation of the proposed and used technique is carried out by comparisons between the simulations results with ADS and Maple (or MatLab).

  • The purpose of this study was to find out what changes in weight bearing in the both upper extremities occurred in response to Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex by rotation of head in the quadruped position. The subjects for the study were 80 children (44 male, 44 female) who were neurologically normal. They were divided into two groups $6\~7$ year olds and $8\~9$ year olds. Paired t-test was applied as a atatistical method at the 0.01 level of significance. The results of this study are as follows; 1. In the neutral position of head, there was mort weight bearing on the left hand than the right in both of the two groups(p<0.01). 2. When the head was rotated to the right or left passively, there was more weight bearing on the hand of side to which the face was rotated(p<0.01). 3. When the head was rotated to the right or left actively, there us also more weight bearing on the hand of side to which the face was rotated(p<0.01). Therefore, it is possible to un Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex to increase body weight for muscle strengthening in children with weakened muscles of the upper extremities. further studies are required for confirmation of these findings.

  • Compared to the barcode which is being widely employed to store information on products, the color code may find more various applications because of its favorable appearance and larger possible number of combinations. However, the color values read in practice may suffer from distortions from environments and devices. In this paper, we propose efficient ways to reduce the effect of such distortions and to detect color codes. for which we apply the Right Hand on Wall (RHOW) algorithm originated from the area of the maze search. The color codes used in this paper have high values of Hue and Saturation components and have a circular shape. We first preprocessed the images to detect candidate areas of color codes, and then applied the RHOW algorithm to determine optimal coordinates of rectangles enclosing the areas. As a result, we could obtain accurate coordinates of color codes by using the RHOW algorithm.

  • Purpose: We compared the activation pattern of the mirror neurons (MN) between two types of hand movement according to action observation using functional MRI. Methods: Twelve right-handed healthy subjects (5 male and 7 female, mean age $21.92{\pm}2.02years$) participated in the experiment. During fMRI scanning, subjects underwent two different stimuli on the screen: 1) video clips showing repeated grasping and releasing of the ball via simple hand movement (SHM), and (2) video clips showing an actor performing a Purdue Pegboard test via complex hand movement (CHM). paired t-test in statistical parametric mapping (SPM) was used to compare the activation differences between the two types of hand movement. Results: CHM as compared with the SHM produced a higher blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) signal response in the right superior frontal gyrus, left inferior and superior parietal lobules, and lingual gyrus. However, no greater BOLD signal response was found by SHM compared with CHM (FWE corrected, p<0.05). Conclusion: Our findings provided that the activation patterns for observation of SHM and CHM are different. CHM also elicited boarder or stronger activations in the brain, including inferior parietal lobule called the MN region.

  • PURPOSE: This study analyzed the correlation between the plantar pressure and body alignment according to the dominant hand of elementary school baseball players. METHODS: The subjects consisted of 32 elementary school baseball players. The 32 players were classified in the right-hand dominant group (Rt. Group, n = 22) and left-hand dominant group (Lt. group, n = 10). The plantar pressure was measured using a pedoscan to determine the maximum pressure and pressure distribution. The body alignment was measured using a fometric 4D to measure the trunk imbalance angle (TI), pelvic tilt angle (PTi), pelvic torsion angle (PTo), pelvis rotation angle (PR), kyphotic angle (Ky), lordotic angle (Lo), and trunk torsion angle (TT). RESULTS: Participants showed correlations in the Rt. group, according to the left maximum pressure, Lo (r = .592, p < .05), and TT (r = .514, p < .05); according to the right maximum pressure, PR (r = .539, p < .05), and Lo (r = .503, p < .05). In the left pressure distribution, the PR (r = -.521, p < .05) showed a negative correlation. In the Lt. group, the PT (r = -.591, p < .05) showed a negative correlation in the left pressure distribution. CONCLUSION: These results can be used as basic data for a body analysis study of elementary school baseball players in the future.

  • This study was done to identify the effects of the hand washing procedure poster on the hand washing behaviors after Mers outbreak. Method: This study was conducted by observing a total of 370 people(185 people in no- poster zone, 185 people in poster zone) who used the public restroom. Results: As a result of comparing the hand washing with and without the poster, the subjects who washed their hands with the poster around were 83.2%, which was higher than the 47% of the subjects without the poster. The Time spent on the hand washing was similar between the groups with or without the poster around. Also only 3.3% of the subjects actually completed the entire 6 procedures of hand washing. The subjects who finished more than 4 procedures out of 6 were 17% from the group with the poster around, and 10.3% from the group without. Conclusion: The hand washing poster was effective in encouraging the behavior itself, but not specifically in the right way during the ideal time nor the right procedures. Therefore, verbal instructions made every time washing hands or more visual effective posters are required to enhance the hand washing procedures.

  • In the present study, to examine the effects of somatosensory stimulation of the hands on the hand functions and visuomotor coordination of children with developmental disabilities, a total of 24 sessions of experiments were conducted with three children with developmental disabilities for 60 minutes per session, three sessions per week from January 7, 2013 to March 11, 2013. To examine the effects of somatosensory stimulation of the hands on grasping and visuomotor coordination which are sub-areas of PDMS-2, the A-B study design was used which is a single case study method out of single-subject experimental research designs. Somatosensory stimulation of the hands was shown to be effective in improving the hand functions of children with developmental disabilities. Somatosensory stimulation of the hands showed positive effects on the raw scores and standardized scores of grasping and visuomotor coordination in all the three subject children. Visuomotor coordination functions showed higher scores in post-hoc tests in all three children. In particular, ring throws showed high scores at right $90^{\circ}$, right $45^{\circ}$, center, left $45^{\circ}$, and left $90^{\circ}$ among visual directions. In the present study conducted with children with developmental disabilities, ring throws were performed to examine visuomotor coordination. In particular, the numbers of successes of ring throws on the front, left, and right were shown to be high. Therefore, somatosensory stimulation of the hands was effective on the hand functions and visuomotor coordination functions of children with developmental disabilities.
