  • Purpose: The strudy was done to determine the effect of an exercise program using the muscle strengthening flowchart on flexibility and hand strength and depression of rural elderly women. Methods: For 11 months, from January 9, to November 29, 2013, a survey was done of 37 voluntary participants who were elderly women living in rural areas. This study was a one group pretest-posttest Quasi-experimental research design to identify the effectiveness of self-directed programs. The Korean version of the depression measurement tool (Jo and Kim, 1993) was used. The collected data were analyzed using frequency, descriptive statistics, and paired t-test with SPSS /PC 17.0 program. Results: Comparison of before and after the self-directed program showed that flexibility (p <.001), left grip strength (p <.001), and right grip strength (p <.001) were significantly increased. Depression (p <.001) was significantly reduced. Conclusion: The results of the study show that the exercise program using the muscle strengthening flowchart resulted in of significant muscle strengthening and reduction in depression in rural elderly women. Future use of the muscle strengthening flowchart is recommended to provide long-term operational exercise programs.

  • Synovial sarcomas of the hand are rare. It should be treated with wide resection. In the cases of soft tissue sarcomas of the hand, functional reconstruction must be considered. We report 46-year-old male patient with synovial sarcoma of the right thenar muscle which was treated with unplanned intralesional resection at outside hospital, that has been treated with wide resection including trapezium and first metacarapl bone then, reconstructed with nonvascularized fibular graft and anterolateral thigh free flap.

  • An application of thermal response coefficient method for obtaining thermal load on stud-frame walls in a typical house is presented. A set of stud-frame walls is two-dimensional heat conduction transients with composite structure. The ambient temperature on the right-hand face of the stud-frame walls is a typical day-cycle input and the room temperature on the left-hand face is a constant input. The desired output is thermal load at the left-hand face. The time-dependent ambient temperature is approximated by a continuous, piecewise-linear function each having one hour interval. The conduction problem is spatially discretized as 8 computer modelings by finite elements to obtain thermal response coefficients. The discretization and round-off errors can be neglected in the range of adequate number of nodes. A 60-node discretization is recommended as the optimum model among 8 computer modelings. Several sets of response coefficients of the stud-frame walls are generated by which the rate of heat transfer through the walls or some temperature in the walls can be calculated for different input histories.

  • In this paper fuzzy goal programming problems with fuzzy constraints and fuzzy coefficients in both matrix and right hand side of the constraints set are considered. Because of fuzzy coefficients in both members of each constraint ranking methods for fuzzy numbers are considered. An additive model to solve fuzzy goal programming problems is formulated. The diversity of each methods provides a lot of different models of auxiliary linear programming problems from which fuzzy solutions to the fuzzy goal programming problem can be obtained.

  • We present a two dimensional linear programming knapsack problem with the extended GUB constraint. The presented problem is an extension of the cardinality constrained linear programming knapsack problem. We identify some new properties of the problem and derive a solution algorithm based on the parametric analysis for the knapsack right-hand-side. The solution algorithm has a worst case time complexity of order O($n^2logn$). A numerical example is given.

  • In this paper we consider analogous of Gronwall-type inequalities involving iterated integrals in the inequality (1.2) for functions when the function u in the right-hand side of the inequality (1.2) is replaced by the function $u^P$ for some p. These inequalities are effective tools in the study of a system of an integral equation. We also provide some integral inequalities involving iterated integrals.

  • We analyze the error in the p version of the of the finite element method when the effect of the quadrature error is taken in the load vector. We briefly study some results on the $H^{1}$ norm error and present some new results for the error in the $L^{2}$ norm. We inves-tigate the quadrature error due to the numerical integration of the right hand side We present theoretical and computational examples showing the sharpness of our results.

  • The global least squares method (Gl-LSQR) is a generalization of LSQR method for solving linear system with multiple right hand sides. In this paper, we present how to apply this algorithm for solving the image restoration problem and illustrate the usefulness and effectiveness of this method from numerical experiments.

  • Thoracic Outlet syndrome is defined to compression of the subclavian vessels and brachial plexus at the superior aperture of the thorax. It was previously designed due to presumable etiologies such as scalenus anticus, costoclavicular, hyperabduction, cervical rib or first rib syndromes. We experienced a case of thoracic outlet syndrome[scalene anticus syndrome] .Patient has been suffered from swelling and numbness of the right forearm and hand for 2 years. Diagnosis was made by preoperative selective angiography. Scalenus anticus and medius muscle resction and first rib resection was done with transaxillary approach. Postoperative course was not eventful.

  • EEG-based brain computer interface (BCI) provides a new communication channel between human brain and computer. The classification of EEG data is an important task in EEG-based BCI. In this paper we present methods which jointly employ principal component analysis (PCA) and linear dynamical system (LDS) modeling for the task of EEG classification. Experimental study for the classification of EEG data during imagination of a left or right hand movement confirms the validity of our proposed methods.
