Spectrum sensing is a key technical challenge for cognitive radio (CR). It is well known that multicycle cyclostationarity (MC) detection is a powerful method for spectrum sensing. However, a conventional MC detector is difficult to implement because of its high computational complexity. This paper considers reducing computational complexity by simplifying the test statistic of a conventional MC detector. On the basis of this simplification process, an improved MC detector is proposed. Compared with the conventional detector, the proposed detector has low-computational complexity and high-accuracy sensing performance. Subsequently, the sensing performance is further investigated for the cases of Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Rician, and Rayleigh fading and lognormal shadowing channels. Furthermore, square-law combining (SLC) is introduced to improve the detection capability in fading and shadowing environments. The corresponding closed-form expressions of average detection probability are derived for each case by the moment generation function (MGF) and contour integral approaches. Finally, illustrative and analytical results show the efficiency and reliability of the proposed detector and the improvement in sensing performance by SLC in multipath fading and lognormal shadowing environments.

In this paper, diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) of three-user wireless multiple-antenna cooperative systems is investigated in general fading channels when half-duplex and decode-and-forward relay is employed. Three protocols, i.e., adaptive protocol, receive diversity protocol, and dual-hop relaying protocol, are considered. The general fading channels may include transmit and/or receive correlation and nonzero channel means, and are extensions of independent and identically distributed Rayleigh or Rician fading channels. Firstly, simple DMT expressions are derived for general fading channels with zero channel means and no correlation when users employ arbitrary number of antennas. Explicit DMT expressions are also obtained when all users employ the same number of antennas and the channels between any two users are of the same fading statistics. Finally, the impact of nonzero channel means and/or correlation on DMT is evaluated. It is revealed theoretically that the DMTs depend on the number of antennas at each user, channel means (except for Rayleigh and Rician fading statistics), transmit and/or receive correlation, and the polynomial behavior near zero of the channel gain probability density function. Examples are also provided to illustrate the analysis and results.
In this paper, we have studied the reliable scheme for transmission of digital watermarking-inserted image data through wireless channel. Multimedia data and watermarking data are degraded because of the high BER (Bit Error Rate) and the effect of fading in wireless channel. We adapt the error correction scheme for mitigating the degradation in watermarking data. We have evaluated the error performance of watermarking data modulated by OFDM/16QAM and sent through Rician fading channel. The simulation results show that when error correcting scheme is used the watermarking data can be detected without severe error even though watermarking-inserted image data is suffered from severe damage.
In this paper, we investigated performance for 5.8GHz dedicated short range communication system using OFDM which will be applied to Intelligent transportation system services. The maximum speed of a vehicle in DSRC channel is very fast as 180km/h, so a service time is very short to serve a various traffic information if hand-off is not occurred. Therefore higher bit rate is required to proved advanced and intelligent service to the drivers of various vehicle and the data transmission rate of the next generation DSRC system if being promoted over 10Mbps. The signals received in Racian channel have been simulated using the computer simulator. For performance improvement, BCH coding scheme are adopted.

In this paper, performance of OFDM systems with turbo code is analyzed and simulated in a satellite broadcasting channel. The performance is evaluated in terms of bit error probability. The satellite channel is modeled as a combination of Rayleigh fading with shadowing and Rician fading channels. As turbo decoding algorithms, MAP (maximum a posteriori), Max-Log-MAP, and SOVA (soft decision Viterbi output) algorithms are chosen and their performances are compared. From simulation results, it is demonstrated that Max-Log-MAP algorithm is promising in terms of performance and complexity. It is shown that performance is substantially improved by increasing the number of iterations and interleaver length of a turbo encoder. The results in this paper can be applied to OFDM-based satellite broadcasting systems.

In this paper, we analyzed performance of vehicle detection for ITS (Intelligent Transport System) applications. We simulated the vehicle detection at Hi-Pass System is based on DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication). DSRC is a wireless network using ITS, including GPS (Global Positioning System) satellites in conjunction with the national transportation system. The system performance is evaluated in terms of bit error probability. In the simulation, the vehicle speed is set at 60 km/h and carrier frequency is 5.8 GHz. Wireless channel is modeled as the Rician fading channel. In the transmitter, the ASK (amplitude shift keying) modulation scheme is applied. From simulation results, we confirmed that performance of applied Alamouti scheme is better than other systems.

This paper presents a design for a throughput-efficient online relay selection scheme for dual-hop multi-relay cooperative networks. Problems arise with these networks due to unpredictability of the relaying link quality and high time-consumption to probe the dual-hop link. In this paper, we firstly propose a novel probing and relaying protocol, which greatly reduces the overhead of the dual-hop link estimation by leveraging the wireless broadcasting nature of the network. We then formulate an opportunistic relay selection process for the online decision-making, which uses a tradeoff between obtaining more link information to establish better cooperative relaying and minimizing the time cost for dual-hop link estimation to achieve higher throughput. Dynamic programming is used to construct the throughput-optimal control policy for a typically heterogeneous Rayleigh fading environment, and determines which relay to probe and when to transmit the data. Additionally, we extend the main results to mixed Rayleigh/Rician link scenarios, i.e., where one side of the relaying link experiences Rayleigh fading while the other has Rician distribution. Numerical results validate the effectiveness and superiority of our proposed relaying scheme, e.g., it achieves at least 107% throughput gain compared with the state of the art solution.

In this paper we analyze the satellite DMB system E using CDM/QPSK transmission system in 2,630~2,655 MHz(25 MHz) bandwidth by computer simulation. Based on this result, we propose the protection ratio analysis and values to guarantee the Performance of the satellite DMB system E from the interference of CATV using the same spectrum. As a result, we confirmed that the protection ratio between DMB and wireless CATV should be guaranteed -16.3 dB in AWGN channel and -11.3 dB in Rician Fading(Channel model A) channel. These research results can be important fundamental material for the commercialization of satellite DMB system.

In this paper, we analyzed the error rate Performance of convolution coded 16 QAM signal in impulsive noise Environments. We used convolution rode and maximum ratio combining diversity for performance improvement. We analyzed the error rate performance of 16 QAM signal in implusive noise environments compared with gaussian noise environments. As a result of analysis, there is a BER segment where the efficiency of system does not improve until which limit to raise a signal power potential from impulsive noise environment when the signal power potential which goes over this limit is supplied, BER efficiency improve much more.

In this paper, the performance of DS/SS acquisition system over frequency nonselective Rician fading channel is analyzed by means of packet loss probability. The power ratio of the fading component to the specular compnent. seccessive constant fadong chips k. and correlation coefficient among k chipe are taken for channel parameters. The false alarm probabilities and detection probabilities are derived, and packet loss probability is evaluated in terms of these probablities in the stats transition diagram. From the results of the performance test, these exists the region of packet loss probability in crease because of autocorrelation sidelobe. As k increases, the packet loss probabolotoes decrease.
