90도 요철이 설치된 회전덕트에서 유출홀이 열/물질전달에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Bleed Hole on Heat/Mass Transfer in a Rotating Channel with Transverse Ribs)

  • The present study investigates the effects of bleed flow on heat/mass transfer and pressure drop in a rotating channel with transverse rib turbulators. The hydraulic diameter ($D_h$) of the square channel is 40.0 mm. The bleed holes are located between the rib turburators on leading surface and the hole diameter (d) is 4.5 mm. The square rib turbulators are installed on both leading and trailing surfaces. The rib-to-rib pitch is 10.0 times of the rib height (e) and the rib height-to-hydraulic diameter ratio ($e/D_h$) is 0.055. The tests were conducted at various rotation numbers (0, 0.2, 0.4), while the Reynolds number and the rate of bleed flow to main flow were fixed at 10,000 and 10%, respectively. The results suggest that the heat/mass transfer characteristics in the internal cooling passage are influenced by rib turbulators, bleed flow and the Cariolis force induced by rotation. For the rotating ribbed passage with bleed flow, the heat/mass transfer on the leading surface is hardly affected by bleed flow, but that on the trailing surface decreases due to the diminution of main flow. The results also show that the friction factor decreases with the bleed flow.

  • RIB(Rigid Inflatable Boat) is widely used for coastal transportation in the commercial use and for ISR(Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) in the military use. Since RIB is around 10 meters in length and over 30 knots in speed, its motion characteristics in waves is quite different from a large scale ship. When it turns, large roll occurs and heeling direction is opposite to the large ship's case. Currently, many countries are developing USV(Unmanned Surface Vehicle) of which type is RIB. In order to develop high performance autopilot and way point controller, it is very important to identify RIB's motion characteristics. In this paper, sea trial test results of a 7-meter RIB such as speed, turning, zig-zag, and way point control tests were represented and its resistance and propulsion model was identified by using sea trial data and Savitsky's formula. In addition, the state space model which will be used in the identification of the four-degree-of-freedom dynamics in the next step was formulated and the identification procedure was proposed.

Outcomes after rib fractures: more complex than a single number

  • Purpose: Rib fractures are common injuries that can lead to morbidity and mortality. Methods: Data on all patients with rib fractures admitted to a single trauma center between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2018 were reviewed. Results: A total of 1,671 admissions for rib fracture were examined. Patients' median age was 57 years, the median Injury Severity Score (ISS) was 14, and the median number of fractured ribs was three. The in-hospital mortality rate was 4%. Age, the number of rib fractures, and Charlson Comorbidity Index scores were poor predictors of mortality, while the ISS was a slightly better predictor, with area under the receiver operating characteristic curve values of 0.60, 0.55, 0.58, and 0.74, respectively. Multivariate regression showed that age, ISS, and Charlson Comorbidity Index score, but not the number of rib fractures, were associated with significantly elevated adjusted odds ratios for mortality (1.03, 1.14, and 1.28, respectively). Conclusions: Age, ISS, and comorbidities were independently associated with the risk of mortality; however, they were not accurate predictors of death. The factors associated with rib fracture mortality are complex and cannot be explained by a single variable. Interventions to improve outcomes must be multifaceted.

Shear resistance behaviors of a newly puzzle shape of crestbond rib shear connector: An experimental study

  • A newly puzzle shape of crestbond rib shear connector is a type of ductile perfobond rib shear connector. This shear connector has some advantages, including relatively easy rebar installation and cutting, as well as the higher shear resistance strength. Thus, this study proposed a newly puzzle shape of crestbond rib with a "${\mho}$" shape, and its shear resistance behaviors and shear strengths were examined using push-out tests. Five main parameters were considered in the push-out specimens to evaluate the effects of shear resistance parameters such as the dimensions of the crestbond rib, transverse rebars in the crestbond dowel, concrete strength, rebar strength, and dowel action on the shear strength. The shear loading test results were used to compare the changes in the shear behaviors, failure modes, and shear strengths. It was found that the concrete strength and number of transverse rebars in the crestbond rib were significantly related to its shear resistance. After the initial bearing resistance behavior of the concrete dowel, a relative slip occurred in all the specimens. However, its rigid behavior to shear loading decreased the ductility of the shear connection. The cross-sectional area of the crestbond rib was also shown to have a minor effect on the shear resistance of the crestbond rib shear connector. The failure mechanism of the crestbond rib shear connector was complex, and included compression, shear, and tension. As a failure mode, a crack was initiated in the middle of the concrete slab in a vertical direction, and propagated with increasing shear load. Then, horizontal cracks occurred and propagated to the front and rear faces of the specimens. Based on the results of this study, a design shear strength equation was proposed and compared with previously suggested equations.

초기 횡방향 유동이 존재하는 충돌제트/유출냉각에서 요철이 설치된 유출면에서의 열/물질전달 특성 (Heat/Mass Transfer Characteristics on Rib-roughened Surface for Impingement/Effusion Cooling System with Initial Crossflow)

  • The present study is conducted to investigate the effect of rib arrangements on an impingement/effusion cooling system with initial crossflow. To simulate the impingement/effusion cooling system, two perforated plates are placed in parallel and staggered arrangements with a gap distance of 2 times of tile hole diameter. Initial crossflow passes between the injection and effusion plates, and the square ribs (3mm) are installed on the effusion plate. Both the injection and effusion hole diameters are 10mmand Reynolds number based on the hole diameter and hole-to-hole pitch are fixed to 10,000 and 6 times of the hole diameter, respectively. To investigate the effects of rib arrangements, various rib arrangements, such as 90$^{\circ}$transverse and 45$^{\circ}$angled rib arrangements, are used. Also, the effects of flow rate ratio of crossflow to impinging jets are investigated. With the initial crossflow, locally low transfer regions are formed because the wall jets are swept away, and level of heat transfer rate get decreased with increasing flow rate of crossflow. When the ribs are installed on the effusion plate, the local distributions of heat/mass transfer coefficients around the effusion holes are changed. The local heat/mass transfer around the stagnation regions and the effusion holes are affected by the rib positions, angle of attack and rib spacing. For low blowing ratio, the ribs have adverse effects on heat/mass transfer, but for higher blowing ratios, higher and more uniform heat transfer coefficient distributions are obtained than the case without ribs because the ribs prevent the wall jets from being swept away by the crossflow and increase local turbulence of the flow near the surface. Average heat transfer coefficients with rib turbulators are approximately 10% higher than that without ribs, and the higher values are obtained with small pitch of ribs. However, the attack angle of the rib has little influence on the average heat/mass transfer.

리브조직의 특성을 고려한 니트 패턴 연구(1) -0${\times}$1 rib 조직과 1${\times}$1 rib 조직을 중심으로 (A Study on the Knit Pattern Considering the Characteristics of Rib Stitch(1) - Focused on 0${\times}$0 and 1${\times}$1 Rib Stitches)

  • This study aims to measure stretch rate of standard weight in the direction of the knit stitch course by the difference in the way of weaving rib stitch, the most elastic stitch of all the knit stitches and to apply features of rib stitch to the knit pattern. The reviewer examined the sample knit for test with 100% wool, 2/48's 2, 12 gauge, and then made knit patterns and sample clothes for test considering stretch rate of standard weight of 10gf, l5gf, 20gf, 25gf based on the results from the former test, and finally estimated the try-outs for sample clothes. This study came out with the following results. From the functional estimate of knit patterns made by standard stretch rate of each stitch, the l5gf weight sample clothes of 0×0 and 1×1 rib stitches looking similar to plain stitch. For the bust, B/4-1.0㎝ knit pattern was made of 0×0 stitch, B/4-1.2㎝ of 1×1 rib stitch. In conclusion, because rib stitch has the much higher stretch rate in the direction of the course than other stitches, low stretch rate of standard weight should be applied to the case of making knit wear. It is expected that this will lead stable sizing and measurement system when used in making knit patterns, and satisfy knit wearers' various needs.

해양 발광 박테리아 Photobacterium Species의 Riboflavin 생합성에 관여하는 유전자들의 발현 (Expression of the Genes Involved in the Synthesis of Riboflavin from Photobacterium species of Bioluminescent Marine Bacteria)

  • 발광 박테리아인 Photobacterium 종들의 lux 오페론 하부 영역에서 riboflavin 생합성에 관여하는 유전자들(ribⅠ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ)이 발견되었다. Photobacterium phosphoreum의 lux 유전자와 rib 유전자를 포함하는 intergenic 영역의 단일사슬 DNA가 P. phosphoreum의 mRNA에 의하여 S1 nuclease digestion에서 손상받지 않았으며, ribⅠ에 의하여 암호화되는 P. phosphoreum의 riboflavin synthase의 활성도가 lux-specific한 효소들인 luciferase 혹은 fatty acid reductase 활성도와 같이 bioluminescence intensity의 발현과 함께 대수기 말기에서 증가하는 박테리아 발광반응의 특이한 조절 체계인 'autoinduction' 양상을 보였다. 또한 P. leiognathi의 luxB로부터 ribⅡ까지 포함하는 DNA를 강력한 lux 프로모터와 reporter(chloramphenicol acetyl transferase, CAT) 유전자 사이에 삽입하고 접합(conjugation)의 방법으로 P. leiognathi에 유전자 전이(gene transfer)시켜 CAT reporter 유전자의 발현을 P. leiognathi에서 조사한 바, 그 유전자의 발현 정도에 큰 차이가 없었을 뿐만 아니라 이 구조에서 lux 프로모터를 제거하게 되면 CAT reporter 유전자의 발현이 전혀 나타나지 않았다. 이들 실험 결과들은 lux 유전자와 rib 유전자의 intergenic영역에 lux 오페론의 전사 종결 구조(transcriptional terminator)가 존재하지 않으며 ribflavin 생합성 유전자들이 그들 고유의 프로모터에 의하여 전사되는 것이 아니라 lux 오페론의 프로모터에 의하여 발현됨을 나타내는 것으로, 이는 Photobacterium 종들에서 lux 유전자와 rib 유전자들은 공동의 발현 조절 체계를 갖는 것으로 요약된다.

Plasma Display Panel용 감광성 격벽 재료 및 Photolithography 공정 성질 (Photosensitive Barrier Rib Paste for PDP and Photolithographic Process)

  • 플라즈마 디스플레이 패널(PDP)의 격벽(barrier rib)은 일정한 선폭과 높이를 가져 균일한 방전 공간을 제공하고, 인접한 셀 간의 전기적, 광학적 혼선(crosstalk)을 방지하기 위해 PDP의 하부 유리 기판 패널에 들어가는 구조물이다. 본 연구에서는 사진식각(photolithography)법으로 격벽을 형성하는데 필요한 감광성 격벽 페이스트가 제조되었다. 페이스트는 바인더 고분자인 에틸셀룰로오즈를 BC/BCA = 30/70 wt %인 혼합 용매에 15 wt %로 용해한 다음 관능성 단량체로서TPGDA/PETA = 50/50 wt % 혼합물, 광개시제로서 Irgacur 651 및 격벽 분말을 도입한 다음 전체를 균일하게 분산시켜 제조하였다. 감광성 격벽 페이스트의 각 성분, 조성 및 공정을 최적화하여 소성 후 높이 약 $100{\mu}m$ 에 이르는 PDP용 격벽을 고해상도로 사진식각법으로 얻을 수 있었다.

터널 상·하반 분할 굴착 시 강지보재 지지구조 효과에 대한 연구 (A study on the effect of support structure of steel rib in partitioning excavation of tunnel)

  • 본 논문은 터널 강지보 지지구조의 효과에 대한 연구 결과이다. 터널 굴착에 있어 상·하 반단면 굴착 공법은 상반굴착 후 지반이 불량한 경우, 강지보재의 지지력 부족으로 강지보재의 침하가 발생한다. 상반 굴착부에 설치된 강지보재 기초부가 하반을 굴착함에 따라 자체 하중, 측압 등 여러 영향으로 강지보재의 침하가 발생된다. 이로 인하여 터널 내공유지 곤란 및 안전성에 문제가 발생하게 된다. 이러한 문제들을 해결하기 위해 강지보재 지지구조체를 개발하였다. 이를 검증하기 위해 Terzaghi 이론식을 이용한 하중 및 하반 굴착으로 발생하는 ΔP를 구해 수치해석을 통한 구조검토 및 검증, 숏크리트 및 강지보재의 재료상사를 통한 축소모형 실험으로 지지구조체 유·무에 따른 거동특성을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 풍화토~연암 각 지반의 경우 토피고 10~40 m 구간에 대해 20.100~198.423 kN의 지지구조가 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 축소모형 실험 결과 강지보재 지지구조체 설치 시 강지보재의 침하는 미설치시의 50% 수준으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통하여 강지보재 지지구조체의 설치로 시공 시 발생하는 불확실성 및 여러 문제점을 보완할 수 있을 것으로 보여진다. 또한 강지보재 지지구조체 설치로 안정성, 경제성 및 공기 단축등과 같은 여러 효과로 적용성 또한 클 것으로 판단된다.

철근 마디형상에 따른 부착특성에 관한 해석적 연구 (A FEA Study on the Bond Property according to the Rib-Shape of Reinforcement)

  • 기존의 많은 연구자들이 철근과 콘크리트 사이의 부착특성에 영향을 주는 다양한 변수에 대하여 연구해왔으며, 특히 최근에는 고강도철근의 등장과 더불어 부착강도의 증진을 위한 연구가 다수 진행 중이다. 철근과 콘크리트 사이의 부착특성은 두 이질재료 사이의 계면조건이 중요한 역할을 하게 되는데, 이 중에서 특히 철근의 마디형상은 계면조건에 가장 큰 영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 철근과 콘크리트 사이의 부착거동을 분석할 수 있는 상용 비선형 유한요소프로그램을 사용하여 철근의 마디형상에 따른 부착특성에 대하여 연구하였다. 해석에 사용된 부착모델은 2차원 평면응력요소를 사용하였으며, 주요 해석변수로는 마디각, 마디높이, 마디간격 및 마디면적비이다. 해석결과, 마디각은 30~60도인 범위에서 부착력이 우수한 것으로 나타났으며, 마디높이는 일정구간까지는 부착강도가 증가하나 철근직경의 12%를 초과하면 전단파괴를 유발하여 오히려 부착강도가 감소되고, 마디간격에 대한 효과는 상대적으로 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 마디의 높이와 간격을 하나의 지표로 제시할 수 있는 마디면적비는 부착강도의 변화를 효과적으로 나타낼 수 있는 것으로 분석되었으며, 마디면적비는 0.15 이하에서 최대의 효율을 나타내는 것으로 분석되었다. 특히 대형마디(교차마디형상)를 가진 철근인 경우, 타 변수보다 우수한 효율을 나타내어 부착강도 증진효과가 커지는 것으로 평가되었다.
