  • In this paper, we propose a new type of decentralized learning automata for the control finite state Markov chains with unknown transition probabilities and rewards. In our scheme a .betha.-type learning automaton is associated with each state in which two or more actions(desisions) are available. In this decentralized learning automata system, each learning automaton operates, requiring only local information, to improve its performance under local environment. From simulation results, it is shown that the decentralized learning automata will converge to the optimal policy that produces the most highly total expected reward with discounting in all initiall states.

  • Many organizations require their current and perspective employees to obtain industry-based certification to maintain, and seek promotions. However, many certifications are simple knowledge based examinations that reward memorization instead of actual performance. With industry's increased reliance and demand to hire certified professionals, there is much more dishonesty, as well as incompetence, entering the system. This paper examines the issues and difficulties faced by organizations trying to hire IT staff based on current certification methodologies and recommends that IT assessments should be shifted from knowledge-based to performance-based examinations through the use of scenario-based simulations. It also demonstrates how to integrate simulations into certification and assessment testing using a proposed digital forensics certification as an example.

  • In this study, we propose the guideline with strategic model for new product development. To establish the guideline, 1) we classify several types of successful surveyed cases that achieved open innovation through applying crowdsourcing into new product development environment, 2) draw case maps using two or three axis with characteristics such as: step of product development process, crowdsourcing frequency, and product type of each case, 3) define the type of applying crowdsourcing into new product development environment based on case analysis results, and tabulate a crowdsourcing type based on the defined crowdsourcing type, 4) finally, suggest the guideline with multiple points of view which embrace type of crowd, community management, participation method, knowledge adoption method, and reward policy. Using the suggested guideline will help a company to design and establish open innovation in new business model related to product development area.

  • In fire suppression, continuous delivery of water or foam to the fire source is essential. The present study concerns fire suppression in a ship under sea condition, by introducing reinforcement learning technique to aiming of fire extinguishing nozzle, which works in a ship compartment with six degrees of freedom movement by irregular waves. The physical modeling of the water jet and compartment motion was provided using Unity 3D engine. In the reinforcement learning, the change of the nozzle angle during the scenario was set as the action, while the reward is proportional to the ratio of the water particle delivered to the fire source area. The optimal control of nozzle aiming for continuous delivery of water jet could be derived. Various algorithms of reinforcement learning were tested to select the optimal one, the proximal policy optimization.

  • Since robotic assembly in an unstructured environment is very difficult with existing control methods, studies using artificial intelligence such as reinforcement learning have been conducted. However, since long-time operation of a robot for learning in the real environment adversely affects the robot, so a method to shorten the learning time is needed. To this end, a method based on a pre-trained neural network was proposed in this study. This method showed a learning speed about 3 times than the existing methods, and the stability of reward during learning was also increased. Furthermore, it can generate a more optimal policy than not using a pre-trained neural network. Using the proposed reinforcement learning-based assembly trajectory generator, 100 attempts were made to assemble the power connector within a random error of 4.53 mm in width and 3.13 mm in length, resulting in 100 successes.

  • This study aims to provide guidelines for the activities of workplace health managers by identifying their excellent health promotion activities and motivations. For this, consent for the study was obtained from 21 workplace health managers who had worked at the same company for more than five years, and a semi-structured questionnaire was sent via email to collect and qualitatively analyze the data. As a result, 17 categories and three topics were drawn. The derived topics included a sense of reward and accomplishment as workplace health managers, difficulties encountered as workplace health managers, and how to solve the difficulties. The survey respondents answered that they feel a sense of reward and accomplishment when workers open their mind, change their daily life, express gratitude, and pioneer new fields. On the other hand, they feel difficulties with unpredictable health, changes in the organizational culture, secrecy of disease, and people who think their job is easy. As a way of overcoming such difficulties, the research subjects said that it is necessary to read the minds of workers, let them know by themselves, use existing programs, have the most difficult people on their side, and spread their achievements. The results of this study revealed that it is required for workplace health managers to develop professional skills and emphasize the importance of health management to the policy-makers and employees of their workplace by continuously reporting health management performance. In addition, they need to actively benchmark the success strategies of exemplary workplace health managers.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify whether there is a mediating effect of self-efficacy in the relationship between self-leadership and organizational commitment, self-leadership and job satisfaction. Specifically, hypotheses were established and a research model was established that behavior-focused strategies, natural reward strategies, and constructive thought pattern strategies have a significant positive (+) effect on organizational commitment, self-efficacy among these variables. In order to analyze this, 239 copies of survey data were collected from general domestic companies and analyzed through SPSS 25.0. The mediating analysis was conducted in the manner proposed by Baron & Kenny(1986). As a result, among the sub-factors of self-leadership, behavior-focused strategies and natural reward strategies had a significant positive (+) effect on organizational commitment, but constructive thought pattern strategies had no causal relationship with organizational commitment. In addition, in the relationship between these variables, self-efficacy showed a partial mediating effect. On the other hand, in the relationship between self-leadership and job satisfaction, only the natural reward strategies among the sub-factors of self-leadership showed a significant positive (+) effect, and behavior-focused strategies and constructive thought pattern strategies showed no causal relationship. Among these variables, self-efficacy was found to show partial mediation. Details and implications of the analysis results were dealt with in the conclusions and discussions of the study.
