Objectives This is one of the manuals of East-West integrative medicine which was created by the committee on integrative medicine of Chung-Yeon Korean Medicine Hospital. The purpose of this manual is to support clinical decision-making and communication between Korean and western medical staff in a Korean medicine hospital during the rehabilitation of patients after knee surgery. Methods The draft was made by two rehabilitation specialists in Korean medicine. After a rehabilitation specialist in western medicine reviewed the draft and exchanged their ideas, a revised version that reflects the goal of consultation was made. Then the committee agreed to adopt the manuals through the process of review and feedback in addition to face-to-face discussions. Results This manual describes clinical decision-making for rehabilitation after arthroscopic partial meniscus resection, meniscus refixation, reconstruction of anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments. Therefore, it contains the schedule of rehabilitation treatment by the surgical technique, general goal of the rehabilitation by phase, guide for patients and postoperative infection management. Conclusions Despite some limitations, this manual has significance as the first example of a decision-making protocol suggestion for East-West integrative rehabilitation treatment after a knee surgery in one medical institution.

Conclusions The proposal of this manual has a significance for it provides information about decision making process and contents of treatment in one medical institution for East-west integrative rehabilitation treatment after shoulder surgery.

The purpose of this study was to analyze of hospital administrator based on the DACUM(Developing A Curriculum) method. The contents of this study were to extract the duties, tasks consisting of job of hospital administrator and to investigate levels of importance, difficulty, frequency and entry level on each task, and to make out a job model of hospital administrator. A DACUM committee was composed to analyze job of hospital administrator and the committee members were total 9, a facilitator, 7 hospital administrator and a recorder. The major findings of this study were as the followings; first, duties in job of hospital administrator were total 13, which were organization of hospital administration affairs, health insurance review & assessment, general affairs, personnel management, hospital planning & management, medical quality improvement, hospital financial affairs, logistics management, facilities management, computerized system management, education & study supports, medical staffs' perceptions of service quality both directly and indirectly through their perceptions of patient orientation. These findings implied that HPWS would be a way of survival in drastically changing hospital environments.

Results This manual describes clinical decision making for rehabilitation after lumbar microdiskectomy, interbody fusion, and kyphoplasty. Therefore it contains the schedule of rehabilitation treatment through the surgical technique, general goal of the rehabilitation by phase, scales for outcome measure and postoperative infection management. Conclusions The proposal of this manual has a significance for it provides information about decision making process and contents of treatment in one medical institution for East-west integrative rehabilitation treatment after lumbar spine surgery.

The Committee on Dyslipidemia of Korean Pediatric and Adolescents of the Korean Society of Pediatric Endocrinology has newly developed evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for dyslipidemia in Korean children and adolescents. These guidelines were formulated with the Grading of Recommendations, which include both the strength of recommendations and the quality of evidence. In the absence of sufficient evidence, conclusions were based on expert opinion. These guidelines are based on the 2011 National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Guidelines, which focus on the prevention of cardiovascular disease in children and draw from a comprehensive review of evidence. These guidelines contain the definition of and screening process for dyslipidemia and introduce new dietary methods: the Cardiovascular Health Integrated Lifestyle Diet (CHILD)-1, the CHILD-2-low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and the CHILD-2-triglyceride. Potential drug therapies for dyslipidemia along with their main effects and doses were also included.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to identify the causes of the retardation of administrative relief under the Special Act on Remedy for Damages Caused by Humidifier Disinfectant and to suggest the systematic refurbishment of this act for the quick and fair of relief of damages. Methods: This study was conducted through the application of the case study, literature review and systematic interpretation of law methods. Results: The disease subject to administrative relief under the Special Act is defined as health damage causally associated to a substantial degree with exposure to humidifier disinfectant. This definition is a strict requirement in light of the legislative purpose of prompt and fair relief of damages. Furthermore, the damage relief committee established under the Special Act judged causal relationships according to a rigorous standard in terms of medical certainty. This medical evidence-based judgment is a result of the committee's failure to understand the normative meaning and function of a causal relationship as an outcome of inference based on empirical rules and common sense. Conclusions: Humidifier disinfectant health damage should be defined as a health-related injury capable of occurring or deteriorating after exposure to humidifier disinfectant (HD). If the fact that a particular injury occurred or worsened after exposure to HD was found, then the damage can be presumed as being caused by HD. However, this might not be the case when the injury was considered to have occurred or been exacerbated entirely due to other factors.

목 적 : 1967년 이후로 1998년까지 대한소아과학회와 정부는 매 10년마다 한국 소아청소년 신체발육표준치를 제정하여 왔다. 지난 40년간의 한국 성장도표는 체계적이고 통계학적인 표준화를 거치지 않은 기술적인 도표였다. 전 세계적인 비만의 유행에 대하여 WHO나 CDC와 같은 국제적인 기관들은 이에 대처하기 위하여 성장도표의 제정 원리들을 변경하여 왔다. 본 논문은 고찰과 함께 새로운 2007년 성장도표 개발과정을 요약하였다. 방 법 : 질병관리본부 만성병조사과의 주도로 2005년에 새로운 성장도표 제정을 위한 신체계측 조사를 시행하였고, 그 결과 소아 비만의 급증과 청소년 최종 성장의 세대별 증가 현상이 정체된 것을 확인하였다. 이에 연구진은 혁신적인 방법론을 도입하였으며, 이를 통하여 새로운 성장도표를 제정하였다. 확보 가능한 원자료인 1997년 및 2005년 측정 자료를 표준화고 통합하였으며, LMS 방법을 도입하여 통계적 모델링을 시행하였다. 결 과 : 표준화된 자료로서 연령별 신장, 연령별 체중, 연령별 체질량지수, 연령별 두위, 신장별 체중 도표가 제공되며, 2005년 조사의 표준화되지 않은 자료로 제공되는 연령별 허리둘레, 연령별 가슴둘레, 연령별 상완둘레, 연령별 피부 두겹집기가 제공된다. 임상 지침도 함께 제공된다. 결 론 : 새로운 한국 성장도표의 개발 과정과 결과는 국제적인 기준인 WHO 표준성장도표 및 미국 CDC 성장도표의 방법론을 적용한 것으로서, 비만과 성 발육이 가속화된 현 상황에 적절하다. 이는 특히 한국 국민과 한민족에게 유용하다. 향후 보다 과학적인 표준을 제시하기 위하여 지속적인 연구가 요청된다.

본 연구는 방송통신심의위원회의 심의과정에서 심의 DB를 활용함으로써 보다 효율적인 업무수행과 체계적이고 일관된 심의결과를 도출할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 타 콘텐츠 심의기관의 DB 시스템을 비교분석하고, 방송 심의 DB의 개선방안을 제시하였다. 분석결과, 타 콘텐츠 심의 DB의 경우 정보입력내용이 매우 자세하고 구체적으로 이루어져 객관적이고 일관된 심의가 이루어지도록 하고 있다. 또한 DB 활용 측면에서도 타 기관의 경우 다양한 방식으로 심의 결과를 활용할 수 있도록 접근성과 활용가능성을 높이고 있다. 향후 방송심의 DB가 체계적이고 효율적으로 구축, 활용됨으로써 심의대상자인 방송사와 콘텐츠를 생산하는 제작자들이 심의결과를 수긍할 수 있도록 하는 체제로 개선되기를 기대한다.

This article examines the Annulment Mechanism of arbitral awards rendered under the auspices of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). The primary feature in the ICSID and non-ICSID arbitration regarding the review of awards involves the unified nature of the ICSID system, as compared to the scattered and multi-layered system of review existing under arbitration rules, national legislation, and international convention. This unity can be perceived at different levels. The ICSID annulment mechanism entails only a set of rules; thus, only one set of application standards of review will be implemented, as opposed to sometimes conflicting layers of application rules, laws, and convention, as in the case of non-ICSID arbitration. However, some of the recent annulment decisions have raised serious questions about the breadth of annulment in practice, as opposed to its original design. Nonetheless, implementing a new system under the ICSID awards to be reviewed by an appellate court appears to create more problems than it solves. The potential impact of introducing that mechanism could result in a longer and more complex proceeding, with uncertain benefits.

Scientists planning research that involves the use of animals are required to examine the possibilities for replacement, reduction, or refinement (the Three Rs), and their protocol must be reviewed by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. Good scientific practice involving appropriate search techniques on the available Three Rs resources is essential for both ethical and scientific reasons. Appropriate experimental design and statistical analysis techniques are particularly necessary for research involving the use of animals, because this can improve animal welfare and scientific outcomes, as well as saving animal lives. There are a number of resources to help researchers improve their search techniques, experimental design strategies, and their reporting of research involving the use of animals. However, there is little specific information or resources on the Three Rs alternatives that is readily available in the Korean language. This paper outlines the common errors made by submitting researchers that have been repeatedly observed during the ethical review of experimental protocols over the last ten years, and provides information on the Korean resources available to promote good scientific practice. This could help to bridge the gap between Korean scientists and animal welfare advocates assisting scientists to improve ethical considerations and conduct responsible research.
