This research tried to present some basic data necessary to give effective support to urban retirees who already returned to the farm by looking into factors effecting on their adjustments to the lives before they returned to the farm and after they did so to know how well they adapt to the rural lives. For the purpose, we made a survey of 408 returners to the farm over the age of 50 for 6 days from October 18 to October 23 in 2004 using questionaires. The results show the followings. First, there are significant difference in the satisfaction with the rural life occurred by the sociological demographic changes according to 'health condition', 'subjective economic ability' and 'previous job'. Second, the difference of satisfaction with the rural lift which was taken place by the reasons before they moved to the farm is effected considerably by what made them decide to return to the farm first whether they prepared for it or not and how much money they have to do so. Therefore, to succeed in adjustment to the rural lives, their decision should be made by positive causes, they have to prepare concretely for it before they carry out their plans and they had better have enough money to move. Third, the difference of satisfaction with the rural life occurred by the reasons after they moved to the farm is effected by 'satisfaction with the forming information', 'the number of friends or neighbors', 'the frequency of meeting the friendly', 'the level of intimacy with neighbors' and 'their efforts to improve the relations with other residents'. And the sensitiveness to perceive the inconvenience according to the rural life is related strongly to the satisfaction with the rural life in the above 6 areas. Fourth, the repression analysis implemented to find how much the above 3 factors effect on the satisfaction with the rural life shows that it is 'returner's current health condition', 'farming education', 'farming fund' and 'effort to be intimate with other residents' that are very important.

Urban-to-rural migration for farming has recently emerged as a new way to vitalize rural economies in a fast-aging rural Korea. In this paper, we analyze the 2013 data of returning farmers with statistical network methods. We identify urban to rural migration hubs with centrality measures and find migration trends based on regional clusters with similar features via statistical network models. We also fit a latent distance model to investigate the role of distance in migration.

Recently, the trend is an increase in prep and existing entrepreneurs returning to farming, people who take over the business and work on a secondary inauguration, and those who are in the field of processed food or exposing farm arisen from the activation of the sixth industry. However, the fact is that majority of an agricultural education is about production process technology education of farm product and processed food under a government-affiliated organization, so the education for start-up, management, or marketing are scarcely proceeding. This study explores fire prevention measures for single-person households on the phenomenon of an increase in single-person households due to changes in the family structure due to low birthrate and aging population, full marriage, non-marriage, separation, bereavement, and returning to farming villages, and increased flexibility in the labor market. The factor that affects the fire of single-person households is the residential environment problem at the structural level. In terms of behavior, there is an increase in fire occurrence due to the rearing of companion animals. In order to prevent fires in single-person households, safety regulations without exceptions are needed to improve the residential environment at the structural level. At the behavioral level, it is necessary to expand the prevention and safety guidance of related organizations. In addition, as a measure to prevent fire caused by companion animals, manufacturers of electric ranges should develop safety devices to prevent fires caused by companion animals, such as an automatic power-off device or power supply using a timer. It can also be an important means to create and distribute promotional videos of measures necessary to safely raise companion animals, or to develop and distribute disaster preparedness programs implemented in virtual reality.

Agricultural Technology Center is an education center to provide agriculturalists with information and technology related with agriculture. As domestic and international environment of agriculture and rural area is changing, functions and roles of Agricultural Technology Center are evolving according to stream of times. In 1995, a new urban and rural complex city was created for symbiotic relationship between city and rural area, As a result, user group of Agricultural Technology Center expanded to nonagriculturalists. Though the change of agricultural extension service is necessary to perform extended functions of rural area and to satisfy needs of new group of users, it is difficult to find enough studies on new functions and roles of Agricultural Technology Center to manage the service change. Therefore, this study is aimed to suggest new functions and roles of Agricultural Technology Center according to stream of times. This study were surveyed through questionnaire targeting users of Namyangju Agricultural Technology Center to compare user group awareness of Agricultural Technology Center in urban and rural complex city. According to this study result, while main purpose of agriculturalists' visiting at Agricultural Technology Center was participating in education programs related with agriculture. In contrast, nonagriculturalists usually visited the center for agricultural understanding, leisure activities, and children education, participating in field work programs. From the survey result of required functions of the center, it was revealed that nonagriculturalists expected urban agriculture, research for living improvement in rural area, adjustment education for returning farmer, and function of farming promotion, comparing agriculturalists. It is verified that this difference of user group awareness reflects the necessity that Agricultural Technology Center should change services and accept increasing use of nonagriculturalists with new functions and roles.

In recent years, the population composition of rural area is changing due to the decreasing population growth of the aged with disability and people returning to farming. Since 1970's the rural community facilities have been spreaded out across most rural villages. Although the rural community facilities are the most widely used facilities, the existing facilities are need to be new built or remodeled according to demographic changes, usage of facilities, and environmental condition. Given this reality, the rural community facilities such as village assembly hall and nursing home for senior citizen are not only used for daily life place but also used like co-residence having meals and sleeping together. Therefore the rural community facilities have the potential to become welfare service space for rural elderly people. This research focuses on the current situation of universal design applied community facilities. According to the research, most of the village community facilities were built in the 1990s and 82% of the buildings were more than 15 years old. Furthermore, 45% of the village community facilities more than 15 years old most have a ground floor in masonry structure. The area of the building is 65% less than $100m^2$. The width of the access entrance, the height of the sink, gas safety valve and so forth were relatively well designed. However, the handrail of the entrance, space in front of the toilet bowl, the height difference between the entrance and floor, the installation of the width of the ramp and stair handrail was relatively incomplete. Village community facilities to be built in the future should be universal design fundamentally.
Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis Virus (IPNV) is one of the most important pathogens for inland fish farming and had been first reported in Korea from returning adult chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) at hatcheries on the east coast. During the past years, several viruses identified as IPNV were isolated not only from chum salmon, but also from gold fish (Carassius auratus), eel(Anguilla japonica), and rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri). An isolate, coded DRT, from fingerlings of pan-cultured rainbow trout in Daechung Dam showed different serotype from three known reference serogroups of IPNV such as VR-299, Sp, and Ab. Antisera to three of these serotypes, however, partially neutralized the infectivity of this isolate. Anti-Sp type was rather effective than either anti-VR-299 or anti-Ab, implying DRT could be more closely related to Sp. DRT has been purified and its RNA genome segments were compated showing that the isolate does not belong to any of known serogroups even with some common antigenicity.
