  • An experimental real-time hybrid method, which implements the wind response control of a building structure with only a two-way TLMD, is proposed and verified through a shaking table test. The building structure is divided into the upper experimental TLMD and the lower numerical structural part. The shaking table vibrates the TLMD with the response calculated from the numerical substructure, which is subjected to the excitations of the measured interface control force at its top story and an wind-load input at its base. The results show that the conventional method can be replaced by the proposed methodology with a simple installation and accuracy for evaluating the control performance of a TLMD.

  • Objective : This study was done to define the treatment protocol of Traditional Korean Medicine for persistent allergic rhinitis, which might be necessary for conducting PRCT study. Methods : Data were collected by questionnaire from Korean Medicine doctors participated in the Conference of The Korean Oriental Medical Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology & Dermatology Society in October 2012. We investigated their treatment procedures for persistent allergic rhinitis in ordinary clinical settings. Their treatment patterns including annual treatment period, frequencies and treatment times were also investigated. Finally, we combined the national insurance covered or out-of-pocket treatments as treatment packages according to the response rates of each contents, and displayed them as treatment protocols for PRCT study. Results : 50 Korean medicine doctors described the informed consent and questionnaire. Response rates of each treatment procedure were listed in Table 2 to Table 5. Treatment periods, frequencies and treatment time of each visit were listed in Table 6. Finally, treatment packages which would be defined for PRCT were listed in Table 7 as treatment package 1(response rates were over 50%), package 2(response rates were over 25%), package 3(response rates were over10%). Conclusion : These results provide the rational background and preliminary sources of defining treatment packages for developing PRCT protocols.

  • Thrust force of linear motor is one of the important factor to specify motor performance. In this study, we optimized maximizing the thrust force of TFLM(Transverse Flux Linear Motor) using Response Surface Methodology by the table of orthogonal way. The Response Surface Methodology was well adapted to make the analytical model of the maximum thrust force and enable the objective function to be easily created and a great deal of the time In computation to be saved. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed optimization procedure using the Response Surface Methodology can be easily utilized to solve the optimization problem of electric machine.

  • In this paper we discuss some cautionary notes in using the Pearson chi-squared test statistic for the goodness-of-fit of the ordinal response model. If a model includes continuous type explanatory variables, the resulting table from the t of a model is not a regular one in the sense that the cell boundaries are not fixed but randomly determined by some other criteria. The chi-squared statistic from this kind of table does not have a limiting chi-square distribution in general and we need to be very cautious of the use of a chi-squared type goodness-of-t test. We also study the limiting distribution of the chi-squared type statistic for testing the goodness-of-t of cumulative logit models with ordinal responses. The regularity conditions necessary to the limiting distribution will be reformulated in the framework of the cumulative logit model by modifying those of Moore and Spruill (1975). Due to the complex limiting distribution, a parametric bootstrap testing procedure is a good alternative and we explained the suggested method through a practical example of an ordinal response dataset.

  • After the manual shutdown of the Wolseong nuclear power plant due to an earthquake in Gyeongju in 2016, anxiety about the earthquake safety of nuclear power plants has become a major social issue. The shear wall structure used as a major structural element in nuclear power plants is widely used as a major structural member because of its high resistance to horizontal loads such as earthquakes. However, due to the complexity of the structure, it is challenging to predict the dynamic characteristics of the structure. In this study, a three-story shear wall structure is fabricated, and the in-structure response characteristics of the shear wall structure are evaluated through shaking table tests. The test is performed using the Gyeongju earthquake that occurred in 2016, and the response characteristics due to the domestic earthquake are evaluated.

  • Large spatial structures can not easily predict the dynamic behavior due to the lack of construction and design practices. The spatial structures are generally analyzed through the numerical simulation and experimental test in order to investigate the seismic response of large spatial structures. In the case of analysis for seismic response of large spatial structure, the many studies by the numerical analysis was carried out, researches by the shaking table test are very rare. In this study, a shaking table test of a small-scale arch structure was conducted and the dynamic characteristics of arch structure are analyzed. And the dynamic characteristics of arch structures are investigated according to the various column cross-section and length. It is found that the natural vibration periods of the small-scaled arch structure that have large column stiffness are very similar to the natural vibration period of the non-column arch structure. And in case of arch structure with large column stiffness, primary natural frequency period by numerical analysis is very similar to the primary natural frequency period of by shaking table test. These are because the dynamic characteristics of the roof structure are affected by the column stiffness of the spatial structure.

  • A review is made of transient phenomena ralation to flow in the vadose zone. Reviewed topics include rapid water table response to rainfall, pulsating flow due to pressure perturbations in the vasoes zone, and the wave-like propagation of increased soil moisture caused by intermittent rainfall. As a basis of interpreting these phenomena, zoning of the vadose zone into a residual water zone, an unsaturated capillaty zone, and a saturated capillary zone are proposed. Possible implications with respect to hydrological processes relating to these phenomena are discussed.

  • In the recent field of 5-axis machine tools, it is necessary to improve machining ability. The tilting index table is a key unit in order to manufacture some non-rotational and 3-dimensional parts by using conventional machining centers. In this study, the structural analysis of a tilting index table is carried out and the displacement and distribution of stress in the tilting index table is analysed to design the table safely. The modal analysis is performed in order to confirm the frequency response about the vibration having a large effect on the machine tools. The dynamic analysis is performed in order to confirm the rigidity, and the structural stability has been verified.

  • We can use the logistic model for categorical data when the response variables are binary data. In this paper we consider the problem of constructing the confidence intervals for logistic model in I${\times}$J${\times}$2 contingency table. These constructions are simplified by applying logit transformation. This transforms the problem to consider linear form which called the logit model. After obtaining the confidence intervals for the logit model, the reverse transform is applied to obtain the confidence intervals for the logistic model.
