The Structure of the Short and the Long-Run Variations in the Domestic Bank Earnings (국내 은행수익성의 장단기적 변동구조)

  • This study analyzes the structure of the variations In the domestic bank earnings and examines their dynamic features by estimating the short-run response and the long-run adjustment Process after the changes in financial market variables. A system of the equations for the bank stock price index and KOSPI is formulated to utilize the whole information in the market and simultaneously estimated to identify the relationships between the market variables and the bank earnings. Since the bank stock price is found to be responsive to changes in none of the market variables in the short run, while being relatively responsive to dollar exchange rate and business state, It implies that a good economic conditions and a stable foreign exchange rate should be maintained to Improve the level of the stock price In the long run. In addition, the dynamic structure of the responses of the bank stock price index and KOSPI to the initial changes in the market variable are compared and anlayzed. The response of the bank stock price appears to take much longer in adjusting to the long-run eouilibrium level than that of KOSPI. As a result, the cumulative response of the bank stock price index over time is found much bigger than that of HOSPI.

Multi-Level Response Surface Approximation for Large-Scale Robust Design Optimization Problems (다층분석법을 이용한 대규모 파라미터 설계 최적화)

  • Robust Design(RD) is a cost-effective methodology to determine the optimal settings of control factors that make a product performance insensitive to the influence of noise factors. To better facilitate the robust design optimization, a dual response surface approach, which models both the process mean and standard deviation as separate response surfaces, has been successfully accepted by researchers and practitioners. However, the construction of response surface approximations has been limited to problems with only a few variables, mainly due to an excessive number of experimental runs necessary to fit sufficiently accurate models. In this regard, an innovative response surface approach has been proposed to investigate robust design optimization problems with larger number of variables. Response surfaces for process mean and standard deviation are partitioned and estimated based on the multi-level approximation method, which may reduce the number of experimental runs necessary for fitting response surface models to a great extent. The applicability and usefulness of proposed approach have been demonstrated through an illustrative example.

  • As we live in real If era, If become a mandatory component for nations and organizations to survive in severe competition. If is also thought of as strategic asset for effective business operations, yet there is no proved statement on the interoperability and system integration which causes serious problem in terms of requirement engineering among current systems. The National Defense Enterprise Architecture Framework is a strategic information asset base, which define the military operation activities for the mission, the information necessary for military operations, the technologies necessary for implementing new technology in response to changing operational needs. It is an integrated model or representation. Information Systems will be evolved by the National Defense Enterprise Architecture framework. The purpose of this framework is to present overall picture of national defense information system domain so that information systems are interoperated, integrated and information sharing is increased among affiliated organization of Defense Military.

A Study on Special Events at School Foodservice Operations in the Busan Area (부산지역 학교급식의 이벤트 실시 현황)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of implementing special events within school foodservice operations. A total of 359 questionnaires were distributed to dietitians employed at school foodservice operations in Busan from July 1 to 31, 2006 (response rate: 93%). The results indicated that approximately half of the respondents (47.7%) did not implement special events. The types of special events that foodservice operations had most frequently implemented were 'traditional festival day events' (19.0%), 'subdivisions of the season events' (18.3), 'seasonal events' (17.1%), 'school events' (13.0%), 'single day events' (10.2%). According to the dietitians' characteristics, older dietitians implemented 'healthy food events' more frequently than younger dietitians. 'Traditional festival day events' (p<0.05) and 'subdivisions of the season events' (p<0.01) were more frequently implemented in independently managed foodservices than in contract operations. On the other hand, 'international food events', 'gift events', and 'healthy food events' were more frequently implemented in contract foodservices than in independent operations (p<0.001). Dietitians from elementary and middle schools implemented 'winter solstice', 'midsummer', 'children's day', and 'school foodservice day' events more frequently, whereas dietitians from high schools implemented 'midsummer', 'Valentine's day', and 'teacher's day' events more frequently. Most dietitians (94%) had never received education or training for special event marketing previously. Therefore, these results suggest there may be a need to develop educational programs on special event marketing for dietitians.

  • In many response surface optimization problems for industrial processes, there are more than two responses of interest, and we want to find the optimal levels of the factors that influence the responses. This paper is to propose how to set up the desirability functions to find the optimum for a given set of data, and to propose how to analyse the data and the desirability functions to determine an optimal operating condition for the factors. To implement the proposed method in practice, a FORTRAN computer program was written and explained. Finally, an industrial example is illustrated to explain the proposed technique and the source list of the computer program is attached for the users.

Downtime cost analysis of offloading operations under irregular waves in Malaysian waters

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the downtime cost of side-by-side offloading operations in Malaysian waters. With the help of a numerical time domain tool, the structure and cable response of moored FPSO vessel was simulated for heading and beam sea-states under irregular waves. The weather downtime was assessed by comparing the response under operational wave condition with the pre defined industrial safe offloading criteria. Additionally, two cases of cable failure were simulated for each sea-state. The novel study on downtime cost was presented for three different location of Malaysia subcontinent for which the location specific wave scatter diagram facilitated to estimate the probability of occurrence of operational wave condition. It was concluded that an unpredictable increment in wave height by 0.5 m can significantly impact the production cost.

  • A terminal response time analysis for a general class of terminals-to-computer subsystem is presented in this paper. On the point of the front view, it should be considered for R.O.K. Military Defense to set up the communication network in order to facilitate for the currency of the information and the data communication system. The model used to study is based on the advanced data communications system in which terminals are connected to Terminal Control Units(TCU) that are in turn connected to local Front-End Processor(FEP). The line control procedures used to interface a TCU and an FEP may be half-duplex Binary Synchronous Communication(BSC), half-duplex Synchronous Data Link Control(SDLC), or full-duplex SLDC. This paper will contribute to facilitate the initial phase of system design and configuration for the Military Defense Communication Network System in future.

  • Mean squared error (MSE) is an effective criterion to combine the mean and the standard deviation responses in dual response surface optimization. The bias and variance components of MSE need to be weighted properly in the given problem situation. This paper proposes a systematic method to determine the relative weights of bias and variance in accordance with a decision maker's prior and posterior preference structure.

  • A mixture experiment is a special type of response surface experiment in which the factors are the ingredients or components of a mixture, and the response is a function of the proportions of each ingredient. Evolutionary operation is useful to improve on-line full-scale manufacturing processes by systematically changing the levels of the process variables without jeopardizing the product. This paper presents an evolutionary operation procedure for large-scale mixture production processes based on simplex search procedure, which can be beneficial to practitioners who should improve on-line mixture process quality while meeting the production schedule of the mixture product.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the perceived risk which influences consumers' purchase attitudes so that consumers' participation in electronic commerce could be enhanced. Consumer behavior involves risk in the sense that any action of a consumer will produce consequences which one cannot anticipate, and some of which are at least likely to be unpleasant. The types of perceived risks are financial risk, performance risk, social risk, psychological risk, time loss, opportunity loss, privacy risk, fashion loss, delivery risk, seller's response risk and seller's fraud risk The findings are as follows: $\circled1$ The financial risk, performance risk, time loss, delivery risk, seller's response risk and seller's fraud risk have negative effects on the consumers' purchase attitudes. $\circled2$ There is no difference in the level of perceived risk according to the demographic factors such as age, education and income level.
