Stochastic ground-motion method is adopted to simulate horizontal PGA values for the offshore Uljin earthquake recorded at nationwide seismic stations. For this purpose, the Fourier spectra are calculated at every stations based on comprehensive results of wave propagation and site effect which were previously revealed through inversion process applied to large accumulated spectral D/B. In addition, the apparent source spectrum of the offshore Uljin earthquake is estimated by removing the path and site response from the observed spectra. The distance dependent time-duration model is revised by iteratively fitting the PGA values generated by using the raw spectra data to the observed PGA data. The stochastic ground-motion method predicts the observed PGA values within a error of ${\sigma}_{log10}=0.1$. Transfer functions of a site relative to another site are estimated based on the error residual of the inversion results and used to convert PGA values at multiple stations to expected PGA values at a reference station of TJN. The converted PGA values can be used as basic data to evaluate the ground-motion attenuation relations developed for seismic hazard analysis that concerns the large damaging earthquakes.

The method of generating the artificial acceleration time histories for seismic analysis based on genetic algorithms is presented. For applying to the genetic algorithms, the frequencies are selected as the decision variables eventually to be genes. An arithmetic average crossover operator and an arithmetic ratio mutation operator are suggested in this study. These operators as well as the typical simple crossover operator are utilized in generating the artificial acceleration time histories corresponding to the specified design response spectrum. Also these generated artificial time histories are checked whether their outward features are to be coincident with the recorded earthquake motion or not. The features include envelope shape, correlation condition between 2 horizontal components of motion, and the relationship of max. acceleration, max. velocity and max. displacement of ground.
In this experiment, we did sampling 6 kinds of photovoltaic modules and analyzed the discrepancy of measurement results between l laboratory and 4 PV makers to have performance repeatability at Standard Test Condition(STC) condition. From the KIER's results, Korea's standard test laboratory, other laboratory showed -10% measurement variation. The causes came from correction of reference cell, test condition and the state of skill. Form the comparison test, we analyzed the problems. But three PV maker reduced measurement variation, other one PV maker and one test laboratory didn't improve the problems of correction of reference cell, test condition and the state of skill. Also, High Efficiency Module had a big discrepancy of -10.0$\sim$-6.2% among 3 laboratories which have a less than 10msec light pulse duration time. This made low spectrum response speed so the Fill Factor decreased maximum output power under 10msec light pulse duration time

The objective of this study is to investigate tank container to be used as fuel tank for LNG fueled ship. Feasibility of tank container to the fuel tank of LNG fueled ship is addressed and the advantage of tank container as fuel tank of ship is investigated. Conceptual configuration of the tank container is designed as well as structural analyses based on finite element method are carried out to meet the design regulation suggested by shipping register. Static loading is considered by structural analysis and impact test is performed. It is necessary to require SRS(shock response spectrum) in order to investigate structural safety which can meet.
In 2011, a cluster of peripartum patients were admitted to the intensive care unit of a tertiary hospital in Seoul with signs and symptoms of severe respiratory distress of unknown etiology. Subsequent epidemiological and animal studies suggested that humidifier disinfectant (HD) might represent the source of this pathology. Epidemiological studies, animal studies, and dose-response analysis demonstrated a strong association between HD use and lung injuries. The diagnostic criteria for HD-associated lung injury (HDALI) was defined on the basis of the clinical, pathological, and radiological attributes of the patients. The clinical spectrum of HDALI appears to range from asymptomatic to full-blown acute respiratory failure, and some patients have required actual lung transplantation for survival. The overall mortality of the exposed population was not significant, although peripartum patients and children who were admitted to the intensive care unit did show high mortality rates. Persistent clinical findings such as diffuse ill-defined centrilobular nodules and restrictive lung dysfunction were observed in some of the survivors. The findings of this review emphasize the importance of assessment of the level of toxicity of chemical inhalants utilized in a home setting, as well as the need to identify and monitor afflicted individuals after inhalational injury.

In this paper, we propose a method to improve the performance of the direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of a speech source using a multiple signal classification (MUSIC)-based algorithm. Basically, the proposed algorithm utilizes a complex coefficient band pass filter to generate the narrow band signals for signal analysis. Also, reverberation component reduction and quadratic function-based response approximation in MUSIC spatial spectrum are utilized to improve the accuracy of DOA estimation. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the well-known generalized cross-correlation (GCC)-based DOA estimation algorithm in the aspect of the estimation error and success rate, respectively.Abstract should be placed here. These instructions give you guidelines for preparing papers for JICCE.

A body form, which experiences minimum vertical wave-exciting forces in the vicinity of a prescribed wave frequency in water of finite depth, is obtained by an approximate method. Its configuration has the symmetry with respect to the vertical axis, expressed in terms of exponential functions. By distributing three-dimensional pulsating sources and dipoles on the immersed surface of the body, a velocity potential is determined and subsequently hydrodynamic forces including the 2nd-order time-mean drift forces are calculated. The dynamic behavior of the body moored in irregular waves is investigated numerically by using central difference method. Hereby irregular wave trains are simulated with examining its repeatability by comparing the resulting spectrum with original one. Numerical results indicated that the body form obtained from the present analysis possesses in general a favorable hydrodynamic characteristics in comparison with a spherical buoy and that the maximum excursion of the body can be significantly reduced by setting pre-tension of an appropriate amount in the mooring cable.
It is well known that urgency resulted from time stress can be a great cause to industrial accidents. Therefore, time stress has been studied in the aspect of macroscopic view, namely industrial safety management, but has not been studied in microscopic view such as psychophysiological approach. Among diverse psychophysiological indices, Electroencephalogram(EEG) would be on of the most objective psychophysiological research technique on human errors though few research has been taken yet. This study aimed to get characteristics of human error while committing a simple arithmetic addition task by utilizing the power spectrum technique of EEG data. Each experiment was composed of 2 tasks under different condition - with and without time stress. As subjects, 5 young undergraduate students in their early twenties participated in this study. The results advocated a well-known fact that time stress downgrades the performance of human workers. However, correct answer rate and response time were not significantly influenced by time stress factor which might be explained by the constructural factor adopted in the present study. As in the previous studies, among various EEG-related measures, relative band power ratios of ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ waves to sum of ${\alpha}$,${\beta}$,${\theta}$ wave powers, namely $P_{{\alpha}/({\alpha}+{\beta}+{\theta})}$ and $P_{{\beta}/({\alpha}+{\beta}+{\theta})}$ seemed to be the most effective measures to grasp variation of brain activities in time-stressed situation so that discussions were expanded about their variations.
In this study, the seismic performance of RC school buildings which were not designed according to earthquake-resistance design code were evaluated by using response spectrum and push-over analyses. The torsional amplification effect due to plan irregularity is considered and then the efficiency of seismic retrofitting methods such as RC shear wall, steel frame, RC frame and PC wing wall was investigated. The analysis result indicate that the inter-story drift concentrated in the first floor and most plastic hinge forms at the column of the first story. Among the retrofitting methods, the PC wing wall has the highest seismic performance in strength and story drift aspect. Especially, it can make building ductile behavior due to the concentrated inter-story drift at the first column hinge is distributed overall stories. The axial force, shear force and moment magnitude of existing elements significantly decreased after retrofitting. However, the axial and shear force of the elements connected to the additional retrofitting elements increased, and especially the boundary columns at the end of the retrofitting shear wall should be reinforced for assuring the enhancement of seismic performance.
This paper presents a numerical investigation on the seismic behavior of isolated bridges with supplemental viscous damping. Usually very large displacements make seismic isolation an unfeasible solution due to boundary conditions, especially in case of existing bridges or high risk seismic regions. First, a suggested optimal design procedure is introduced, then seismic performance of three real bridges with different isolation systems and damping levels is investigated. Each bridge is studied in four different configurations: simply supported (SSB), isolated with 10% damping (IB), isolated with 30% damping (LRB) and isolated with optimal supplemental damping ratio (IDB). Two of the case studies are investigated under spectrum compatible far-field ground motions, while the third one is subjected to near-fault strong motions. With respect to different design strategies proposed by other authors, results of the analysis demonstrated that an isolated bridge equipped with HDLRBs and a total equivalent damping ratio of 70% represents a very effective design solution. Thanks to confirmed effective performance in terms of base shear mitigation and displacement reduction under both far field and near fault ground motions, as well as for both simply supported and continuous bridges, the suggested control system provides robustness and reliability in terms of seismic performance also resulting cost effective.
