  • This paper is concerned with the critical issue of allocating limited corporate resources among multiple products and between production and marketing functions of a functionally decentralized firm where the two geographically remote functions independently make decisions pertaining to their own decision-making domain. We attempt to demonstrate how IT can contribute to enhancing the quality of coordinating production and marketing functions from the perspective of resource allocation. To this end, we propose a prototype named ITBCS (IT-Based Coordination System) that works under LAN supported computing environments. We develop a comprehensive coordination scheme that can handle various cost functions for the resource constrained, multiple product case that huts been tittle discussed in literature. A preliminary version of ITBCS has been implemented for a hypothetical situation where LAN electronically wires distributed marketing and production computing nodes. Managerial implications are also discussed.

  • The Web based multimedia programmes/courses are becoming widely available in recent years. Most of these courses focus on Behaviorist way of learning, which does not promote deep learning in any way. For Adults this approach further incapacitated, as it does not satisfy Andragogical needs. The search for Constructivist way of learning through the web applied to Indian conditions led to need for developing a curriculum development approach that would promote construction of knowledge through web based collaboration. This paper attempts to reengineer existing curriculum development processes and lays out a framework of‘Problem Based Online Learning (PBOL)’curriculum design. In this context, entire curriculum development life cycle is evolved and explained. This is a part of doctoral work (Ph.D), which is in progress and being undertaken by K.James Mathai, and guided of Dr.D.S.Karaulia.

  • This qualitative case study focused on two types of livable, family-friendly communities and their activities. The landscaping, the community library, and the Dongbu Apartment Residents' Committee were examined in relationship to the everyday lives of the community's residents through observation and an in-depth interview. The experiences and thoughts of two representatives and four volunteers were described in detail. This study implies the importance of activity as well as a visible effort to improve quality of life. Further, it implies the necessity of a long-tenn perspective and commitment to developing a livable community base with strategies consistent with integrity and the values of everyday life. Above all, we researchers emphasize the most important factor of the livable community is the third sector; a public space based on everyday life located between a structurally separate work space and family space.

  • Replication routing can greatly improve the data delivery performance by enabling multiple replicas of the same packet to be transmitted towards its destination simultaneously. It has been studied extensively recently and is now a widely accepted routing paradigm in delay tolerant networks (DTNs). However, in this field, the issue of how to maximize the utilization efficiency of limited replication quota in a resource-saving manner and therefore making replication routing to be more efficient in networks with limited resources has not received enough attention. In this paper, we propose a DTN routing protocol with back-pressure based replica distribution. Our protocol models the replica distribution problem from a resource allocation perspective and it utilizes the idea of back-pressure algorithm, which can be used for providing efficient network resource allocation for replication quota assignment among encountered nodes. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed protocol significantly outperforms existing replication routing protocols in terms of packet delay and delivery ratio.

  • This study attempts to provide implications for developing more efficient and effective community-based support system with AIP perspective for the elderly in Korea. The main purpose of this study is to analyze Japan's community-based integrated care system that respond to the concept of aging in place (AIP) and its cases. In Japan, they have offered Community-Based Service since 2005, and the advanced system which include integrated support categories and consolidated community/local resources will started in 2015 by The revision of Long-term Care Insurance policy, 2012. The result of policy analysis and case studies are as follows: 1) The suggestion for ideal support system model promoted a relationship of multiple agents include private sectors even resident and senior and specified responsibility sharing, 2) the system proposed Not only health and medical care support, living care and residence are also addressed as a comprehensive support. and 3) the amount of available community resource is different by each local government, but the effort to get the understanding of community residents and to connect with a potential community resource is also essential aspect to set effective community-based support system.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine how a superior employee's ethical leadership affects members' innovative behaviors, mainly on organization-based self-esteem. It also aimed to verify the mediating effect of organization-based self-esteem in the process that ethical leadership affects members' innovative behavior in distribution-related organizations. Research design, data and methodology: After collecting materials from companies' executives and staff members in distribution-related organizations located in Seoul, South Korea, a research hypothesis was analyzed. Results: A superior employee's ethical leadership affects a positive (+) effect on innovative behaviors of the organization's members and the study confirmed that the relation of this effect was mediated by organization-based self-esteem. It means that the possibility that an organization's members will do innovative behaviors will be increased if a leader conducts ethical leadership. It also means that a leader with ethical leadership enables an organization's members to pay attention all the time and be awake for their work environment. Conclusions: The result of this study discusses how ethical leadership affects innovative behaviors of an organization's members from the perspective of organization-based self-esteem and has a theoretical implication that it has empirically examined it. More importantly, it has a theoretical implication because it verified how this effect was made using organization-based selfesteem and flexible human resource management.

  • This paper examines the evolution issues of regional tourism resources in complicated and networked industry the perspective of co-evolution types and dualism. Regional tourism structure has been changing more and faster according to various attractions and internal and external environment; natural resources, facilities, festivals and events, drama and movies, and public resources, etc. This paper approaches Olikowski's dualism perspective as a theoretical view about the alliance network between region's attractions and tourism industry in Korea. Exploratory analysis was explained the dualism cases performed on the matrix between resource characteristics and alliance complexity on human resources based on regional tourism industry.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish fundamental knowledge on the experience for building resource system using the social networks within the community. This study used a social capital perspective and the grounded theory method based on Strauss and Corbin(1998) and Corbin(2004). Interviews were conducted with 14 Korean social workers (general managers and assistant managers) at community welfare centers who have developed resources by using the social networks or social relations for more than 3 years. In creating autonomy and sustainability of community, there are four types of social worker's efforts in building resource system within the community: 'restoring norms of reciprocity', 'developing citizen's capabilities', 'mobilizing resources through community organizations', and 'utilizing external resource-networks'. These results are contribute to developing theory on social welfare resources using community networks according to characteristics of a community.

  • Based on the resource-based perspective, this study seeks to understand the relationship between the organizational slack and innovation, and to demonstrate that there exists a difference in the influence of the organizational slack according to the type of innovation by dividing the types of innovation into exploratory and exploitative innovations. They also want to understand the role that network diversity plays in the relationship between organizational slack and innovation. For this purpose, hypothesis and research models were presented based on resource-based perspectives and empirical analysis was conducted on 171 companies. The analysis confirmed that the impact of organizational slack on exploitative innovation is linear, not non-linear, as expected. In other words, the more resources available, the more productive the enterprise is, and the more resources available to the organization have a positive impact on the innovation. On the other hand, exploratory innovation represented an inverse U-shaped relationship between organizational slack and nonlinearity as expected. The control effect of network diversity was only seen in the relationship between organizational slack and exploratory innovation. Through this study, it provides implications such as the importance of network diversity, which is a relationship between companies, and the difference in the utilization of organizational slack according to the type of innovation.
