  • In this paper the water sensor using a coaxial cavity resonator is designed and manufactured. The water sensor which can sense water drop linearly has been constructed with voltage controlled oscillator(VCO), coaxial cavity resonator, RF switch, RF detector, A/D converter, DAC and micro controller. The operating frequency range of the designed water sensor is from 2.5GHz to 3.2GHz and the input voltage and current source are 24[V/DC] and 1[A]. The designed sensor circuit includes VCO, RF switch, RF detector which varies the frequency characteristics of the devices in the high frequency of 3GHz. And so we should correct the error of the frequency characteristics of those devices in the sensor circuit. To do this, we make the reference path which switches the signals to the RF detector directly without sending it to the resonator. According to the result of simulation and measurement, we can see that there is 0-50MHz difference between simulated resonator frequency and manufactured resonator frequency.

  • In this paper a push-push oscillator using DR (dielectric resonator) at K-band is designed and constructed. Two identical oscillators are arranged in a push-push configuration that has the frequency of oscillator that is twice frequency each oscillator. A dielectric resonator is placed at the input of an active two-port device(FET) yielding a stable frequency source. The oscillators realized with this technique exhibit excellent spectral purity and cancellation of fundamental frequency.

  • The second harmonic light of an 842 nm diode laser was generated from a KNbO3 crystal in an external ring resonator. The power of the second harmonic light was about 0.8 mV at an input fundamental power of 87 mW. The laser frequency was stabilized to the resonance frequency of the ring resonator, and the frequency fluctuation was measured as about 3 MHz.

  • In this paper, the design method for a high-sensitivity compact resonator for chipless RFID tags is proposed. Proposed high-sensitivity compact resonator uses an interdigital-capacitor structure instead of a capacitor-shaped strip structure in a conventional ELC resonator. The length of the electrode plate of the IDC structure is longer than that of the conventional capacitor-shaped structure, resulting in a larger equivalent capacitance of the resonator. This can lower the resonant peak frequency of the RCS characteristic. Two resonators with the same length of the square loop and the width of the strip are fabricated on an RF-301 substrate with a thickness of 0.8 mm. The experiment results show that the resonant peak frequency and value of the bistatic RCS for the ELC resonator were 4.305 GHz and -30.39 dBsm, whereas those of the proposed IDC resonator were 3.295 GHz and -36.91 dBsm. Therefore, the size of the resonator is reduced by 23.5% based on the measured resonant peak frequency of the RCS characteristic.

  • A helmholtz resonator has been widely used for the purpose of suppressing the low frequency noises propagated from various heat and fluid machineries. However, the conventional resonator has demerits that the effective absorption bandwidth is narrow and the absorption performance is not so outstanding in the only limited configurations of neck and cavity as well. In order to overcome these problems, in this paper, a resonator with perforated neck is proposed. The absorption performances of the resonator are measured by two-microphone method and estimated by transfer matrix method. The measured values of normal absorption coefficients agree well with the estimated values. By introducing the perforated plates at the neck of a resonator, it is shown that the absorption performance have been significantly improved.

  • This paper presents a design of 24㎓ GaAs MESFET voltage controlled oscillator using a dielectric resonator(DR) and a frequency doubler. DR modeling has been done to get the effects of resonator size and the gap from transmission line by HFSS at 12㎓, and frequency doubler is used to get 24㎓ Output.

  • To protect a satellite and electronic equipment from the acoustic loads generated by rocket propulsion system, many launch vehicle use acoustic blanket. Most high frequency region of the acoustic loads is reduced by nose fairing skins and acoustic barrier, but low frequency region is not. In order to control low frequency acoustic mode, we designed away resonator panel which was made of composite materials. This paper shows the absorption coefficient measurement result of resonator and SPL(Sound Pressure Level) reduction by using resonators in a rectangular cavity for experiment. Proper arrangement of acoustic resonators at each mode reduce effectively SPL around the satellite through changing boundary condition.

  • Natural frequency of a nano-resonator via nano transfer printing is studied. Through a nano transfer printing, the hybrid metal/polymer membrane may evolve a wrinkle. Natural frequency of a wrinkled hybrid membrane decreases significantly, as the amplitude to wavelength ratio becomes larger. To address the design limit of a hybrid nano resonator, we perform parametric study using finite element analysis. Specifically, we study the effects of the Young's modulus ratio of the metal/polymer membrane, thickness ratio and wrinkle amplitude to wavelength ratio, respectively. The results from the parametric studies can serve as guideline to design hybrid nano resonators.

  • The helmholtz resonator with the perforated neck has demerits that the absorption performance is not so outstanding in an anti-resonance frequency and high frequency bandwidth. In order to overcome these problems, in the paper, a resonator combined with porous material is proposed. The absorption performances of resonators are measured by two-microphone method and estimated by transfer matrix method. The experimentally measured values of normal absorption coefficients agree well with the corresponding values from the transfer matrix method. • Low frequency exhaust noise of marine diesel engine is one of the most important noise sources in vessels. However, conventional absorptive silencers are limited because the absorptive material is not effective in low frequency range. In the paper, exhaust noise control of marine diesel engine has been studied by using the resonator type silencer, which was composed of concentric hole-cavity resonators. The acoustic performance of the resonator type silencer was verified by the insertion loss measurement considering flow effect. Consequently, its high performance, about $5{\sim}8dB$ noise reduction, in the low frequency range was confirmed by insertion loss measurements conducted in the ship.
