  • The practical applications of piezoelectric ceramics are applied not only under low electric field environment. Therefore, an examination for characteristics of PZT ceramics under the high electric field condition can contribute to reducing the susceptibility of multifarious applications and to facilitating production of control circuits. These contributions can lead to the expansion of industrial applications. In this research, we fabricated disk-type PZT ceramic samples using conventional methods, measured the resonance characteristics of these samples under from low to high voltage conditions and calculated the PZT constants.

  • Hepatic toxocariasis is a type of visceral larva migrans caused by the migration of second-stage larvae of certain nematodes such as Toxocara canis to the liver. Histologically, the condition is characterized by granulomatous lesions containing eosinophils and inflammatory cells. We report a case of hepatic toxocariasis with atypical clinical and radiologic findings presenting as distinct, solitary hepatic nodule detected in a middle-aged woman.

  • When the high-speed train running on the track, there is a speed limit which track distortion is unusually increased according to condition of track and roadbed. This speed limit is called critical velocity, and physical parameter value increased very greatly. These phenomenon happened as high-speed train were developed, studied regularly through TGV 100 running test in France. As research result until now, the main reason is soft roadbed's capacity. Wave propagation and track support capacity is varied by the site characteristics. This paper achieved theoretical examination about resonance band(speed and frequency) that occurred in roadbed on the base rock in point of geotechnical engineering. The examination of resonance divides with ground response analysis, critical band analysis by the shear wave velocity of roadbed, train critical speed through the ground stratum.

  • This paper investigates the ground vibration induced by high-speed trains moving on multi-span continuous bridges. The dynamic impact factor of multi-span continuous bridges under trainloads was first determined in the parametric study, which shows that the dynamic impact factor will be large when the first bridge vertical natural frequency is equal to the trainload dominant frequencies, nV/D, where n is a positive integer, V is the train speed, and D is the train carriage interval. In addition, more continuous spans will produce smaller dynamic impact factors at this resonance condition. Based on the results of three-dimensional finite element analyses using the soil-structure interaction for realistic high-speed railway bridges, we suggest that the bridge span be set at 1.4 to 1.5 times the carriage interval for simply supported bridges. If not, the use of four or more-than-four-span continuous bridges is suggested to reduce the train-induced vibration. This study also indicates that the vibration in the train is major generated from the rail irregularities and that from the bridge deformation is not dominant.

  • VCO(voltage controlled oscillator) using mobile communication device decides direct characteristics as parts that affect important in stable oscillation and distortion characteristics of system. VCO used 900 MHz band was designed by the transformation of Colpitts circuit form use ADS that consider Q-factor to minimize phase noise. VCO manufactured together evaluation board and voltage control oscillator to FR-4 PCB. VCO experimented chracteristics after control through resonance department tuning. In our research, the designed VCO has 15.5 dBm output level at the bias condition of 6V and 10mA and the operating frequency range of 917 MHz$\sim$937 MHz band. Phase noise is -98.28 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz frequency offset from the carrier.

  • In this paper, multilayer actuator structured-ultrasonic nozzle and resonant inverter driving circuit were manufactured, respectively. Its electrical properties were investigated. Multilayer actuator structured ultrasonic nozzle was fabricated using PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics showing excellent piezoelectric characteristics. In order to drive ultrasonic nozzle, resonant PWM inverter was used. The purpose of this study is to find the optimal driving condition of ultrasonic nozzle. Accordingly, electrical and temperature characteristic of multilayer ultrasonic driving system were investigated by experiments as a function of the series resonance inductance. The driving current of ultrasonic nozzle showed the maximum current of 27 mA. Also, the surface temperature of ceramic vibrator showed $44^{\circ}C$ at driving time for 20 min. The ultrasonic nozzle was stably operated in the case of driving for more than 20 min.

  • In this paper, we study the self-adjoint second order boundary value problem with integral boundary conditions: (p(t)x'(t))'+f(t,x(t))=0, t $${\in}$$ (0,1), x'(0)=0, x(1) = $${\int}_0^1$$ x(s)g(s)ds. A new result on the existence of positive solutions is obtained. The interesting points are: the first, we employ a new tool-the recent Leggett-Williams norm-type theorem for coincidences; the second, the boundary value problem is involved in integral condition; the third, the solutions obtained are positive.

  • This paper deals with the second-order differential equation (p(t)x'(t))' + g(t)f(t, x(t), x'(t)) = 0, a.e. in (0, $\infty$) with the boundary conditions $$x(0)={\int}^{\infty}_0g(s)x(s)ds,\;{lim}\limits_{t{\rightarrow}{\infty}}p(t)x'(t)=0,$$ where $g\;{\in}\;L^1[0,{\infty})$ with g(t) > 0 on [0, $\infty$) and ${\int}^{\infty}_0g(s)ds\;=\;1$, f is a g-Carath$\acute{e}$odory function. By applying the coincidence degree theory, the existence of at least one solution is obtained.

  • With the use of differential quadrature method (DQM), forced vibrations and resonance frequency analysis of functionally graded (FG) nano-size beams rested on elastic substrate have been studied utilizing a shear deformation refined beam theory which contains shear deformations influence needless of any correction coefficient. The nano-size beam is exposed to uniformly-type dynamical loads having partial length. The two parameters elastic substrate is consist of linear springs as well as shear coefficient. Gradation of each material property for nano-size beam has been defined in the context of Mori-Tanaka scheme. Governing equations for embedded refined FG nano-size beams exposed to dynamical load have been achieved by utilizing Eringen's nonlocal differential law and Hamilton's rule. Derived equations have solved via DQM based on simply supported-simply supported edge condition. It will be shown that forced vibrations properties and resonance frequency of embedded FG nano-size beam are prominently affected by material gradation, nonlocal field, substrate coefficients and load factors.

  • A simple method has been developed to detect the bonding condition of active fiber composites (AFC) adhered to the surface of a host structure. Large deformation actuating capability is one of important features of AFC. Edge delamination in adhesive layer due to large interfacial shear stress at the free edge is typically resulted from axial strain mismatch between bonded materials. AFC patch possesses very good flexibility and toughness. When an AFC patch is partially delaminated from host structure, there remains sensing capability in the debonded part. The debonding size can be determined through axial resonance measured by the interdigitated electrodes symmetrically aligned on opposite surfaces of the patch. The electrical impedance and modal response of the AFC patch in part adhered to an aluminum plate were investigated in a broad frequency range. Debonding ratio of the AFC patch is in inverse proportion to the resonant frequency of the fundamental mode. Feasibility of in-situ detecting the progressive delamination between AFC patch and host plate is demonstrated.
