실험계획법을 이용한 대형 선박용 레이더 마스트의 공진회피 설계 (Design Enhancement to Avoid Radar Mast Resonance in Large Ship using Design of Experiments)

  • Recently, problems with excessive vibration of the radar masts of large bulk carriers and crude oil tankers have frequently been reported. This paper explores a design method to avoid the resonance of a radar mast installed on a large ship using various design of experiment (DOE) methods. A local vibration test was performed during an actual sea trial to determine the excitation sources of the vibration related to the resonant frequency of the radar mast. DOE methods such as the orthogonal array (OA) and Latin hypercube design (LHD) methods were used to analyze the Pareto effects on the radar mast vibration. In these DOE methods, the main vibration performances such as the natural frequency and weight of the radar mast were set as responses, while the shape and thickness of the main structural members of the radar mast were set as design factors. From the DOE-based Pareto effect results, we selected the significant structural members with the greatest influence on the vibration characteristics of the radar mast. Full factorial design (FFD) was applied to verify the Pareto effect results of the OA and LHD methods. The design of the main structural members of the radar mast to avoid resonance was reviewed, and a normal mode analysis was performed for each design using the finite element method. Based on the results of this normal mode analysis, we selected a design case that could avoid the resonance from the major excitation sources. In addition, a modal test was performed on the determined design to verify the normal mode analysis results.

  • This paper provides how to solve the problems analytically and experimentally that occur for testing the water injection pump under development. First of all, water injection pump, based on shaft system dynamic analysis, is verified by measuring the behavior of the shaft system. After the water injection pump is measured, the structural resonances which can cause excessive noise, degradation the equipment life and malfunction are found. Therefore, by changing the structural design, the reso- nance should be avoided. Application of the design variables to the experimentally resonance avoid- ance is difficult. So analytically, with application of the design variables, the design will be changed with mode analysis using FEM.

상용차용 SCR 머플러의 방사소음 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Radiated Noise in SCR Muffler of Commercial Vehicle)

  • This study presents the design modification for SCR muffler of a commercial vehicle. Its main objective is the reduction of radiated noise at SCR muffler. For this study, the research of five steps were achieved by experimental and CAE analysis. First step is the measurement of radiated noise using impact-acoustic test. Second step is the source identification using experimental modal analysis. The cause of radiated noise source is confirmed by the resonance of end plates at SCR muffler. Third step confirms the possibility of resonance avoidance using SDM analysis applied the mass control. Fourth step is the suggestion of design modification which is the change of mode shape by CAE analysis. Last step is the verification of design modification using SYSNOISE analysis. Finally, the prototype product applied the countermeasure of resonance evasion was manufactured and the reduction of radiated noise at SCR muffler was confirmed by pass-by noise test.

  • One of the most critical aspects of the smartphone industry is the quality of the cover. And the vibrations of machining center are supposed to be the most dominant factors to damage the cover quality. In this study, structure of a machining center has been analyzed through experiments and computer simulations to figure out the main reasons of the vibrations. And the design alterations based on the analysis were applied to identify the effects of those alterations on the vibration suppression. The result shows that the design alterations can effectively suppress about 90% of the vibrations.

  • Recently the trend of automobile industry is that IQS evaluation index against a sensitivity quality is increasing. To reduce rattle noise due to speaker sound at low frequencies, it is required the advanced investigation of a package tray panel and a door module panel. This paper optimized the design parameters of package tray panel according to the theoretical background about robust design and suggested the design guideline for resonance avoidance and the reduction of vibrational sensitivity considering the excitation frequency of woofer speaker. In addition, it is suggested the design guideline of a door module panel through the sensitivity analysis in case of the speaker excitation. Finally, the design factor analysis of the quality deviation of a mother-car will make it possible to guarantee the stable characteristics of vehicle vibration in the early stage of vehicle development. These improvements can lead to shortening the time needed to develop better vehicles.

This paper optimized the design parameters of package tray panel according to the theoretical background about robust design and suggested the design guideline for resonance avoidance and the reduction of vibrational sensitivity considering the excitation frequency of woofer speaker. And this paper described the design process of a door module panel through the sensitivity analysis in case of the door speaker excitation. 고전압 장비 지그의 동특성에 대한 위상, 형상 및 치수 최적화 (Topology, Shape and Sizing Optimization of the Jig Supporting High Voltage Pothead)

  • 본 논문에서는 Pothead를 지지하는데 사용하는 지그의 고유진동수를 일정 범위로 제한하여 Pothead와 공진을 일으키지 않도록 하는 지그의 최적 설계안을 제시한다. 쿤 터커(Kuhn-Thucker) 조건을 적용한 최적기준법(Optimality criteria method)을 사용하여 위상 최적화를 수행하였고, 이 과정에서 유한요소 크기기 최적 형상에 미치는 영향을 검토하였다. 또한 위상 최적화 결과를 바탕으로 실험 계획법(Design of experiments)과 반응 표면법(Response surface method)을 사용하여 형상 및 치수 최적화를 수행하여 비교용 지그에 비해 전체 질량이 30% 감소되는 결과를 얻었다. 마지막으로 최적화된 지그의 내진 해석을 수행한 Pothead의 응답은 Metal Handbook에서 제시된 내진 응답을 만족하고 있다.

지반조건 상호작용을 고려한 풍력발전타워의 공진회피 진동수 산정을 위한 고유진동수 해석 연구 (Study on the Natural Frequency of Wind Turbine Tower Based on Soil Pile interaction to Evaluate Resonant Avoidance Frequency)

  • 최근 21세기에 접어들어 무분별한 발전의 결과로 석탄, 석유 등의 화석연료가 고갈되고 있으며, 지구 온난화가 진행중이다. 이미 유럽과 미국 등의 선진국에서는 신재생 에너지 분야에 관심을 갖고 있으며, 그 중에서도 풍력에너지가 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 풍력발전타워는 운용 중 주기적인 하중의 발생으로 만들어지는 주파수를 회피하여 설계를 해야 한다. 일반적으로 구조해석 과정 시 지반을 고정단 경계조건으로 해석한다. 하지만, 고정단 경계조건의 경우 지반 조건 상호작용을 고려하지 못하여 목표 진동수를 벗어나게 된다. 본 연구에서는 용량 별 지반경계 조건 및 기초의 근입깊이를 고려한 고유진동수 효과를 연구하였으며, 변수에 따른 차이를 확인하였다. 결과적으로 고정단 경계조건 모델은 지반조건과 근입깊이의 영향을 받지 않으며, Coupled Spring 경계조건 모델은 지반조건에는 영향을 받지만, 근입깊이에는 영향을 받지 않는다. Winkler Spring 경계조건의 경우에는 지반조건과 근입깊이에 모두 영향을 받는다. 하지만, 얕은 깊이의 지반에서는 지반조건의 영향을 받지 않으므로 Coupled Spring 경계조건 모델을 활용한 지반조건 별 해석을 수행하는 것이 효과적이다.

Avoidance of Internal Resonances in Hemispherical Resonator Assemblies from Fused Quartz Connected by Indium Solder

  • Modern solid-state gyroscopes (HRG) with hemispherical resonators from high-purity quartz glass and special surface superfinishing and ultrathin gold coating become the best instruments for precise-grade inertial reference units (IRU) targeting long-term space missions. Designing of these sensors could be a notable contribution into development of Korea as a space nation. In participial, 40mm diameter thin-shell resonator from high-purity fused quartz, fabricated as a single-piece with its supporting stem has been designed, machined, etched, tuned, tested, and delivered by STM Co. (ATS of Ukraine) several years ago; an extremely-high Q-factor (upto 10~20 millions) has been shown. Understanding of the best way how to match such a unique sensor with inner glass assembly of the gyro means how to use the high potential in a maximal extent; and this has become the urgent task. Inner quartz glass assembly has a very thin indium (In) layer soldered the resonator and its silica base (case), but effects of internal resonances between operational modal pair of the shell-cup and its side (parasitic) modes can notable degrade the potential of the sensor as a whole, instead of so low level of resonator's intrinsic losses. Unfortunately, there are special combinations of dimensions of the parts (so-called, "resonant sizes"), when intensive losses of energy occurs. The authors proposed to use the length of stem's fixture as an additional design parameter to avoid such cases. So-called, a cyclic scheme of finite element method (FEM) and ANSYS software were employed to estimate different combinations of gyro assembly parameters. This variant has no mismatches of numerical origin due to FEM's discrete mesh. The optimum length and dangerous "resonant lengths" have been found. The special attention has been paid to analyses of 3D effects in a cup-stem transient zone, including determination of a difference between the positions of geometrical Pole of the resonant hemisphere and of its "dynamical Pole", i.e., its real zone of oscillation node. Boundary effects between the shell (cup) and 3D short "beams" (inner and outer stems) have been ranged. The results of the numerical experiments have been compared with the classic model of a quasi-hemispherical shell band with inextensional midsurface, and the solution using Rayleigh's functions of the $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ kinds. To guarantee the truth of the recommended sizes to a designer of the real device, the analytical and FEM results have been compared with experimental data for a party of real resonators. The consistency of the results obtained by different means has been shown with errors less than 5%. The results notably differ from the data published earlier by different researchers.
