  • This paper in concerned with the electrochemical properties for supercapacitor of composition with variation of super P/MWCNTs(multi-walled carbon nanotubes) contents. Electrochemical properties of the super P/MWCNTs were measured by cyclic voltammetry at the scan rates of 0.5 mV/s is $TEABF_4$(tetra-ethyl-ammonium-tetra-fluoro-borate) as electrolytes. As a result, the composition for 6 wt% content of MWCNTs led to an increase of capacitance, but DC resistance were decreased. It was found that the content and dispersion appearance of MWCNTs was attributed to the increase in capacitance and lower DC resistance.

  • This paper presents a new PID controller for a DC/DC boost converter model that has a parasitic inductor resistance. In order to maintain the robust output regulation property under load variations the proposed controller is designed by using an additional state variable developed via a parallel-damped passivity-based control approach. Simulation results using Matlab/Simulink SimPowerSystems compare the performances of the proposed controller with a conventional PI controller for reference step changes and load uncertainties.

  • The variation of sheet resistance and the reduction of masking oxide thickness with the flow rate of nitrogen gas has been measured in Boron predeposition process with Planar Diffusion source, BN-975. At 900.deg. C, the sheet resistance varied as much as 75% when the nitrogen flow rate was changed from 0.4 liters/min to 2.0 liters/min. At 975.deg. C, however, only 12% of sheet resistance variation was observed under the same flow rate change. The reduction of masking oxide thickness at 975.deg. C for a 5 min predeposition was 600 nm when the nitrogen flow rate was 0.4 liters/min. When the flow rate incresased to 1.9 liters/min, however, only 100nm of masking oxide was consumed in a similar predeposition process.

  • The effect of specimen thickness on fatigue crack growth rate was studied. The objective of the present study is to investigate the effect of specimen thickness on the fatigue crack growth behavior at various stress intensity factor ranges and also the variation of material restance to fatigue crack growth. The fatigue crack growth resistance was treated as a spatial stochastic process, which varies randomly on the crack path, Compact tension specimens with a LT orientation for structural steel were used. All testing was done at a constant stress intensity level. The experimental data were analyzed for the size effect to determine the Weibull distributions of the material resistance.

  • Recently, polymer insulators that are used for high voltage applications have some advantages such as light weight, small size, vandalism resistance, hydrophobicity and easy making process. During outdoor service of polymer insulators, the surface of the insulating material is frequently subjected to moisture and contamination that lead to dry band arcing. Their tracking resistance, erosion resistance, end sealing and shed design are very important because dry band arcing causes degradation of polymer surface. In this paper, the tracking property of polymer suspension insulator for power transmission is investigated with CEA tracking wheel test. The diagnosis of insulator sample in tracking test has been analyzed by leakage current, STRI Guide, SEM, FTIR and thermal image.

낮은 저항온도계수를 갖는 박막 저항체 제작 및 신뢰성 특성 평가 (Fabrication and Reliability Properties of Thin film Resistors with Low Temperature Coefficient of Resistance)

  • The Ni/Cr/Al/Cu (51/41/4/4 wt%) thin films were deposited by using DC magnetron sputtering method for the application of the resistors having low TCR (temperature coefficients of resistance) and high resistivity from the former printed-results[3]. The TCR values measured on the as-deposited thin film resistors were less than ${\pm}10\;ppm/^{\circ}C$ and $-6{\sim}+1\;ppm/^{\circ}C$ after annealing and packaging process. The TCR values were $-3{\sim}1\;ppm/^{\circ}C$ (ratio of variation : about 0.02 %) and $-30{\sim}20\;ppm/^{\circ}C$ (ratio of variation : about $0.5{\sim}1\;%$) for the thermal cycling and PCT (pressure cooker test), respectively. It was confirmed that the reliability properties of the thin film resistor were good for electronic components.

A Practical Method of Prediction of Resistance for Displacement Vessels

  • The prediction of the total resistance of a ship is generally based on considering it to be a simple sum of the viscous resistance and the wave resistance. An experimental approach for predicting full-size ship resistance on this basis is practical but obviously has the deficiency that a model has to be built for each prototype of interest and the resulting tank tests are time consuming. On the other hand, purely theoretical calculations of the wave resistance, using, for example, the Michell theory, require relatively little computer time and give an excellent portrayal of the overall variation of the vessel resistance as a function of forward speed. Unfortunately, there are sufficient differences between this theory and the measured results to make this method impractical for design purposes. The proposal examined here is to use a data bank of experimental resistance results to modify the theoretical predictions. It is demonstrated that the technique will produce remarkably accurate resistance predictions and can take into account the effects of the water depth, any restriction of canal or river width, as well as the prismatic coefficient, and other geometric parameters.

도상직업에 의한 도상 횡저항력 변화 (Variation of Lateral Ballast Resistance due to Ballast Work)

  • Lateral ballast resistance is one of track components that causes much effects in track buckling. Ballast work or tie renewal if is done the ballast original lateral resistance lose. Reduction of lateral ballast resistance may significantly reduce the stability of track. Lateral ballast resistance that is decreased by these work increases slowly according to the increase of train passing tonnage. We measured the ballast lateral resistance in Okchon station neighborhood in Seoul-Busan line to grasp fluctuation phenomenon of ballast resistance by ballast class-2 work. The rate of decrease of ballast lateral resistance shortly after ballast work and the rate of increase by increase of train passing tonnage were investigated.

  • The wound induction motor can provide high starting torque and reduced starting current simultaneously by inserting large scale resistor. And this technique is one of the well known methods among the induction motor starting methods and generally used for heavy load starting such as Crain and Cement factories. The conventional PI controller has been widely used in industrial application due to the simple control algorithm and in general, PI controller is used for control of current, torque, position, and speed for the wound induction motor drive system. However, the system may result in poor performance since sensors have to be used, which in turn is limited by the environmental condition. Recently, to overcome these problems, many sensorless vector control methods for the wound induction motor have been studied. This paper presents MRAS method with on-line stator resistance tuning for sensorless vector control of the wound induction motor drive. In conventional MRAS method, in low frequency, stator resistance variation can result in poor performance. Therefore, to overcome several shortages of the conventional MRAS caused by parameter variation and enhance robustness of the sensor less vector control, this paper investigates a MRAS method with on-line stator resistance tuning for sensorless vector control of the wound induction motor. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through digital simulation.

  • In this paper, a loss-minimization nonlinear torque control for Electrical Vehicle(EV) induction motors is proposed. To improve the efficiency of the induction motors, it is important to find the optimal flux reference that minimize power losses. The proposed optimal flux reference is derived using a power loss function that is constructed with stator resistance losses, rotor resistance losses and core losses. And the time-varying load torque and the rotor resistance variation are considered in the power loss function. An algorithm that identifying the load torque is used. The rotor flux observer is used to obtain an accurate flux value regardless of the rotor resistance variation. Simulation results show a significant reduction in energy losses.
