Fire Resistance Performance of FRP Rebar Reinforced Concrete Columns

  • Concrete columns reinforced with Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) rebar have been increasingly used in civil engineering applications, while the research on fire resistance of such structural members is still very limited. In this paper, attempts are made to predict temperature distribution and mechanical performance of FRP rebar reinforced concrete columns in fire. The effect of concrete cover and section size on fire resistance time is studied by the finite element method. Based on a parametric study, a simple empirical formula to predict fire resistance time is proposed for possible adoption in fire resistance design.

  • In many industrial applicatiosns such as machine tools and automation equipments the control performance of the feed-drive systems as positioning devices of the tools and workpieces have great influences on the quality of related machines. For many electrically driven mechanical feed systems resilient couplings between motors and mechanical elements which mostly consist of elasttic shafts and gears often are unavoidable.   • Railroad track consists of relatively simple structures such as rail, sleeper, ballast. Roadbed shares vertical pressure by train load which passed through rail to ballast as base that supports the track. For evaluating stress and displacement of roadbed due to the railroad load is an important role on the track as a basic data for estimation of the durability and design of the roadbed thickness. GEOTRACK program applied multi-layered theory was developed for analyzing railroad track structure. GEOTRACK program is a sort of numerical analysis program which has advantage that can analysis component of track by simple method. In this study, this program was used to preform the numerical analysis by changing track conditions and roadbed conditions such as tie, reinforced roadbed, dynamic wheel load, Resilient modulus and so on.   • The finite element analyses of mechanical rubber components are executed to predict the behavior of deformation and stress distribution in destgn step. The non-linear properties of rubber which are described as strain energy functions are important parameters to design and evaluate rubber components. These are determined by material tests which are tension, compression and shear test. The behaviors of loads-displacements of rubber components such as a roll tubber spring and resilient ring and additional spring for railway suspension system are evaluated by using commercial FEA code. It is shown that the results by FEA simulations are in close agreement with the test results.

통근형 지하철의 실내소음저감 (Interior Noise Reduction for Subway Railroad Vehicles)

  • In this paper, the intoner noise reduction for subway railroad vehicles was studied by improving transmission loss of carbody panels and side doors, and on-line tests were conducted to examine the exterior noise levels at various running conditions. Also the transmission loss for design candidates of the carbody specimen was measured in two reverberation rooms. From the results of the tests, side door gap is the most dominant factor affecting the Interior noise level of subway railroad cars with a sliding typed side door. The next one is revealed to transmission loss of a floor panel. To improve the transmission loss of the carbody, many activities were conducted such as, treatment of resilient and sound-absorbing materials and reducing the gap of the side door by adopting a brush and rubber, etc. The estimated interior noise level for modified car which is designed with improved carbody panels is lower than original car by about 5㏈.

EVALUATION OF SLAG MIXTURE PROPERTIES USING GYRATORY COMPACTOR

  • Compaction of asphalt pavement is one of the important processes to make good quality one. There are many laboratory-compaction methods to simulate field compaction, including Marshall compaction, Hveem compaction, gyratory compaction, and etc. The most common method used to determine the fundamental properties of asphalt mixture for design is Marshall method which is using impact energy. However, there is major difference between field compaction using kneading compaction and Marshall compaction using impact energy. Therefore, the gyratory compactor, which currently is the best to simulate the field compaction, was employed. The fundamental properties of asphalt specimen compacted by gyratory compactor and Marshall compactor were determined using laboratory test. From the tests, slag mixture with carbon black or pyrolyzed carbon black showed better performances, such as, in low susceptibility to temperature, high resistance against water and rutting, and high resilient modulus and indirect tensile strength.

  • In this paper, influence factors on dynamic properties of floor impact noise insulation materials are suggested. For this purpose measurements on the dynamic stiffness and the loss factor of resilient materials are carried out by Korea standard (KS F 2868) according to the change of density, thickness, design pattern, and composition of materials. As a result the values of dynamic stiffness was decreased at high density and thick thickness, and that of loss factor was increased at low density. For dynamic properties, the pattern of lattice and waffle type material is better than that of plat type, and the mixed composition of materials is better than the composition of double layer materials at same thickness.

  • 본 설계법은 기존 탄성이론에 근거한 강화노반 설계방법의 대안으로 노반의 소성침하와 열차 반복하중에 따른 응력-변형 특성을 고려한 노반 설계 방법이다. 특징은 설계자가 요구하는 허용설계기준에 따라 교통하중과 열차 년간 통과톤수에 따라 노반의 탄성변위 뿐만 아니라 소성침하량을 평가할 수 있다. 본 설계법을 이용하여 허용 탄성 및 소성 침하량, 열차 속도 및 총통과톤수등의 설계조건을 고려하여 호남고속철도 표준노반단면에 적용하였다. 그 결과 노반의 회복탄성계수 모델인자($A_E$), 일축압축강도, 흙 재료 종류 등의 요구수준 등을 평가할 수 있다.

Novel Pass-transistor Logic based Ultralow Power Variation Resilient CMOS Full Adder

  • This paper proposes a new full adder design based on pass-transistor logic that offers ultra-low power dissipation and superior variability together with low transistor count. The pass-transistor logic allows device count reduction through direct logic realization, and thus leads to reduction in the node capacitances as well as short-circuit currents due to the absence of supply rails. Optimum transistor sizing alleviates the adverse effects of process variations on performance metrics. The design is subjected to a comparative analysis against existing designs based on Monte Carlo simulations in a SPICE environment, using the 22-nm CMOS Predictive Technology Model (PTM). The proposed ULP adder offers 38% improvement in power in comparison to the best performing conventional designs. The trade-off in delay to achieve this power saving is estimated through the power-delay product (PDP), which is found to be competitive to conventional values. It also offers upto 79% improvement in variability in comparison to conventional designs, and provides suitable scalability in supply voltage to meet future demands of energy-efficiency in portable applications.

  • 본 연구에서는 장기적 통합적으로 기후변화에 적극적으로 대응할 수 있는 대학의 잠재적 역량을 발휘하여, 워터프론트에 위치한 캠퍼스의 입지적 장점을 극대화한 캠퍼스를 조성하고 최단기간에 긍정적인 변화를 가져올 수 있는 계획방안을 제안하고자 한다. 기존의 그린캠퍼스 운동이 주로 물과 에너지 절약, 친환경재료 및 신재생에너지 사용, 녹지공간 조성 등 대학 내 건축물에 대한 이산화탄소 저감을 추진하고 있다면, 워터프론트 대학의 지속가능 캠퍼스 조성은 여기에 더하여 지리적 특성을 반영한 공간계획과 친수, 안전, 건강, 스마트 등 구성원들의 인간적 환경을 개선하기 위한 물리적 계획을 포함하도록 한다.
