Recently, many deep convolutional neural networks for image super-resolution have been studied. Existing deep learning-based super-resolution algorithms are architecture that up-samples the resolution at the end of the network. The post-upsampling architecture has an inefficient structure at large scaling factor result of predicting a lot of information for mapping from low-resolution to high-resolution at once. In this paper, we propose a single image super-resolution using Channel Attention Residual Dense Block based on an iterative up-down sampling architecture. The proposed algorithm efficiently predicts the mapping relationship between low-resolution and high-resolution, and shows up to 0.14dB performance improvement and enhanced subjective image quality compared to the existing algorithm at large scaling factor result.
One of the most important parameters affecting nonlinearsoil-structure interaction, especially rocking foundation, is the vertical factor of safety (F.Sv). In this research, the effect of F.Sv on the behavior of rocking foundations was experimentally investigated. A set of slow, cyclic, horizontal loading tests was conducted on elastic SDOF structures with different shallow foundations. Vertical bearing capacity tests also were conducted to determine the F.Sv more precisely. Furthermore, 10% silt was mixed with the dry sand at a 5% moisture content to reach the minimum apparent cohesion. The results of the vertical bearing capacity tests showed that the bearing capacity coefficients (Nc and Nγ) were influenced by the scaling effect. The results of horizontal cyclic loading tests showed that the trend of increase in capacity was substantially related to the source of nonlinearity and it varied by changing F.Sv. Stiffness degradation was found to occur in the final cycles of loading. The results indicated that the moment capacity and damping ratio of the system in models with lower F.Sv values depended on soil specifications such cohesiveness or non-cohesiveness and were not just a function of F.Sv.

In a distribution of digital image, there is a serious problem that is the image alteration by a forger. For the problem solution, this paper proposes the forensic decision algorithm of a median filtering (MF) image using the feature vector based on a coefficient of variation (c.v.) of Fourier transform. In the proposed algorithm, we compute Fourier transform (FT) coefficients of row and column line respectively of an image first, then c.v. between neighboring lines is computed. Subsquently, 10 Dim. feature vector is defined for the MF detection. On the experiment of MF detection, the proposed scheme is compared to MFR (Median Filter Residual) and Rhee's MF detection schemes that have the same 10 Dim. feature vector both. As a result, the performance is excellent at Unaltered, JPEG (QF=90), Down scaling (0.9) and Up scaling (1.1) images, and it showed good performance at Gaussian filtering ($3{\times}3$) image. However, in the performance evaluation of all measured items of the proposed scheme, AUC (Area Under ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristic) Curve) by the sensitivity and 1-specificity approached to 1 thus, it is confirmed that the grade of the performance evaluation is rated as 'Excellent (A)'.
In this paper, we propose the α-Feature Map Scaling (α-FMS) method which extends the FMS method that was designed to enhance the discriminative power of feature maps of deep neural networks in Speaker Verification (SV) systems. The FMS derives a scale vector from a feature map and then adds or multiplies them to the features, or sequentially apply both operations. However, the FMS method not only uses an identical scale vector for both addition and multiplication, but also has a limitation that it can only add a value between zero and one in case of addition. In this study, to overcome these limitations, we propose α-FMS to add a trainable parameter α to the feature map element-wise, and then multiply a scale vector. We compare the performance of the two methods: the one where α is a scalar, and the other where it is a vector. Both α-FMS methods are applied after each residual block of the deep neural network. The proposed system using the α-FMS methods are trained using the RawNet2 and tested using the VoxCeleb1 evaluation set. The result demonstrates an equal error rate of 2.47 % and 2.31 % for the two α-FMS methods respectively.
A finite element technique for the time dependent large structural problems is presented. It is based on the error estimation for the bases of solution spaces. An a-posteriori energy norm of residual error serves as the error indicator. Mode shapes which are calculated by scaling the Ritz vectors are applied to discretize the continuous spatial domain. Finally, the performance of the proposed methods is demonstrated by solving simple examples.
We investigate the decaying incompressible MHD turbulence by including the effect of the expansion and contraction of background medium. In such an environment, incompressible MHD turbulence has two kinds of time scale. One is the eddy turn-over time (teddy), the other is the expansion/contraction time (texp-cntr). The turbulence is expected to behave differently according to the relationship between the two time scales. For instance, for teddy < texp-cntr, the turbulence would be decay more or less as in a static medium. On the other hand, for teddy > texp-cntr, the effects of expansion and contraction would be dominant. We examine the properties of turbulence in these two regime cases. Based on it, we derive a scaling for the time evolution of flow velocity and magnetic field. (i) In the decay effect dominant case, the velocity and magnetic field scale as $\sqrt{{\rho}v}{\sim}a^{-3}$, $b{\sim}a^{-2.5}$(expanding media) and $\sqrt{{\rho}v}{\sim}a^{-2}$, $b{\sim}a^{-1.5}$(contracting media). The total energy and residual spectra follow the $E^T_k{\sim}k^{-5/3}$, $E^R_k{\sim}k^{-7.3}$ in the inertial range. (ii) In the expanding and contracting dominant case, the velocity and magnetic field scale as $\sqrt{{\rho}v}{\sim}a^{-2.5}$, $b{\sim}a^{-2}$ (expanding/contracting media). The Kinetic and magnetic energy spectra follow the $E^K_k{\sim}a^{-5}$, $E^M_k{\sim}a^{-4}$. We have confirmed that scaling of velocity and magnetic filed is almost the same from the analytic estimates and computational models
This paper presents the optimum initial design containing the first and third order properties of the four-group video camera zoom system using lens modules, and its real lens design. The optimum initial design with focal length range of 6.1693 to 58.4065 mm is derived by assigning appropriate first order quantities and third order aberrations to each module along with the specific constraints required for optimization. By scaling the focal length of each lens group, an initial real lens selected for each group has been designed to match its focal length into that of the each lens module, and then combined to establish an actual zoom system by adjusting the air space between the groups at all zoom positions. The combination of the separately designed groups results in a system which satisfies the first order properties of the zoom system consisting of original lens modules. As a result, by residual aberration correction, we could obtain a zoom system useful in video zoom camera employing the rear focus method.

One of the fundamental causes of periodontal disease is accumulation of bacterial plaque and calculus and most effective method of removing these plaque and calculus are scaling and root planning using hand curet and ultrasonic scaler. Many studies concerning residual degenerated mineral content after periodontal therapies have been carried out, but some problems about these studies were also known. This research studies mineral concents and distribution of residual root surfaces after perfoming hand curet and ultrasonic scaler on root surfaces of single rooted teeth which were extracted for periodontal reasons. EPMA were used to avoid errors from chemical quantative analysis and in addition SEM observation was also performed. The results were as follows. 1. No differences were found between curet group andultrasonic scaler group in Ca, P, Mg and Na level. 2. Concentration level was decreased in the sequence of Ca, P, Mg and Na. 3. Ca and P level were decreased as going to apical portion at curet group and ultrasonic scaler group. 4. More cementum was removed at cervical portion compared to other portion at curet group and ultrasonic scaler group. 5. Ca, P, Mg level was higher in dentin compared to cememtum. There was no difference in mineral level for Ca, P, Mg and Na between root surfaces treated with hand curet and ultrasonic scaler.

Purpose: The aim of this randomized clinical trial was to assess whether chemical cleansing using a sulfonic/sulfuric acid gel solution (HBX) as an adjunct to scaling and root planing (SRP) resulted in a decrease in residual plaque and calculus in deep periodontal pockets compared to SRP alone. Methods: Fifty-six patients with 56 hopeless posterior teeth, scheduled for extraction due to severe periodontitis, were enrolled in this study. Each tooth was randomly assigned to 1 of the 2 experimental procedures. The test teeth were subjected to the irrigation of the subgingival area with HBX for 2 minutes, followed by SRP with hand and ultrasonic instruments for 14 minutes, and then extracted. The control teeth received only mechanical instrumentation before extraction. Residual biofilm was evaluated on photographs and measured as total area and percentage of root surface covered by remaining plaque (RP) or calculus (RC) after treatment. Results: The initial pocket depth (PD) and total subgingival root surface area were similar between the 2 treatment groups. After treatment, the total subgingival root area covered by RP and RC was statistically significantly larger (P<0.001) in the control group than in the test group. The test teeth showed a lower percentage of RP, but a higher percentage of RC than the control teeth (both P<0.001). Complete calculus removal was achieved in 42% of the control teeth surfaces and in 25% of the test teeth surfaces for a PD of 4 mm. Conclusions: The additional chemical cleansing with HBX resulted in a statistically significant improvement in bacterial plaque removal during SRP of deep pockets, but it was not effective in reducing calculus deposits.
The ordinary stereo image of an object consists of data of left and right views. Therefore, the left and right image pairs have to be transmitted simultaneously in order to display 3-dimentional video at the remote site. However, due to the twice data in comparing with a monoscopic image of the same object, it needs to be compressed for fast transmission and resource saving. Hence, it needs an effective coding algorithm for compressing stereo image. It was found previously that compressing left and right frames independently will achieve the compression ratio lower than compressing by utilizing the spatial redundancy between both frames. Therefore, in this paper, we study the stereo image compression technique based on the multiresolution wavelet transform using varied disparity-block size for estimation and compensation. The size of disparity-block in the stereo pair subbands are scaling on a coarse-to-fine wavelet coefficients strategy. Finally, the reference left image and residual right image after disparity estimation and compensation are coded by using SPIHT coding. The considered method demonstrates good performance in both PSNR measures and visual quality for stereo image.
