  • This study was carried out to investigate adsorption characteristics of residual pesticides on an adsorbent. $Bauxsol^{TM}$ and mackban-stone as adsorbent were used. Analytical method for residual pesticides was established by GC/NPD and $GC/{\mu}ECD$. Pesticides used in this study were ${\alpha}$-endosulfan, ${\beta}$-endosulfan, pendimethalin and chlorpyrifos-methyl, fenitrothion, and recovery rates were more than 97%. Adsorption rate on an adsorbent was decreased in order of endosulfan, chlorpyrifos-methyl, pendimethalin, fenitrothion. Organochlorine pesticides showed higher removal rate than the other pesticides. $Bauxsol^{TM}$ gave both chemical decomposition and physical adsorption. Mackban-stone gave only physical adsorption on the other hand. The high pH and chloric ions structure of eluted solution have greatly affected at chemical resolution. The removal rate of pesticides was increased due to the physical property of adsorbent, i.e. high porosity. The above adsorbent is to be a candidate to remove residual pesticides in water and pond of links.

  • Currently, the web page that provides residual substance information provides information on residual acceptance criteria in food for pesticides and veterinary drugs. Residual substances refer to pesticides or veterinary drugs that are left in agricultural, livestock, or marine products after being used by diluting them thousands of times. However, users are experiencing inconvenience due to the lack of information on pesticides and veterinary drugs, delays in search time, and Web page errors. In addition, the manager has the inconvenience of manually entering information such as residual acceptance criteria and analysis methods. Thus, this paper proposes a system that can efficiently manage and update the history of changes in information, such as residual material standards for pesticides, animal medicines and the characteristics of drugs.

  • Although the removal efficiency of residual pesticides using tap water were ranged from -1.25 to $13.27\%$, the removal efficiencies of residual pesticides using both powder CaO and liquid CaO were $5.16\~l7.61,\;8.7\~41.59\%$, respectively. And those results showed much higher residual effect of the CaO washing than tap water washing. Natural CaO made by burning of scallop-shell considered to be a good reducing agent for pesticides. Furthermore, liquid CaO showed much higher removal efficiency than powder CaO. However, powder CaO also can be used as a good natural eliminator of pesticides in Mini-Tomato.

  • This study was performed to investigate the content of residual pesticides in bean sprouts which are the very important vegetables to supply protein for traditional korean dishes. Experimental subjects included 541 cases of bean sprouts and 168 cases of germinating beans collected in the Seoul area from January in 1987 to February in 1938. In residual pesticides of subjects, topsin-M, vitavax and thiram were determined by high pressure liquid chromatography and captan was determined by gas chromatography. The detection rates of residual pesticides in the subjects were 19.4% in bean sprouts and 26.2% in germinating beans. The most common used pesticides in bean sprouts was topsin-M and detection rate was 16.2%. Captan and vitavax were also detected in about 3.5%, 2.8% of the experimental subjects respectively. But thiram was not detected in any samples. The mean value of topsin-M content was $21.32{\pm}4.82ppm$ and $1.68{\pm}0.14ppm$ in bean sprouts. The mean value of captan were $7.70{\pm}2.13ppm$ and $0.42{\pm}0.02ppm$ in germinating beans and bean sprouts, respectively.

  • GC/MS analysis of 27 controlled pesticides in herbal drugs was studied. Selected ion monitoring(sim) technique was applied to increase the GC/MS sensitivity. Typical peaks in th e mass spectrum of each pesticides were selected as quantitation, comfirmation or alternate ion. Twenty seven pesticides were divided into five groups according to their retention time and the peaks for SIM were programmed accordingly. The combination of two ionization methods, electron impact(EI)-SIM-MS and negative ion chemical ionization(NCI)-SIM-MS, were well-fitted for the detection, confirmation and quantitation of multiclass residual pesticides in herbal drugs.

  • The hydrolysis of pesticides by ozone was studied using the ozone generator manufactured for home appliance. Ozone was treated to remove the residual pesticides in the vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage, spinach and Japanses parsely. The experimental results were optimistic with removal efficiency of more than 50%, but its achievement depends on the operational hours of zone generator and chemical structures of pesticides. This report was determined as an optimal conditions for the removal rate of pesticides as follows: ozone input concentration in the contactor was $2mg/{\ell}$, ozone contact time was at least 30 min without washing vegetables, but it was OK at 10 min in case that number of washing increases.

  • Pesticide application in agriculture provides significant benefits such as protection from disease, prevention of harmful insects, and increased crop yields. However, accurate toxicological tests and risk assessments are necessary because of many related adverse effects associated with pesticide use. In this review, we discuss and analyze residual pesticides contained in livestock feed in Korea. A pesticide residue tolerance standard for livestock feed has not been precisely established; so, risk assessments are required to ensure safety. Standards and approaches for animal criteria and appropriate methods for evaluating residual pesticides are discussed and analyzed based on technology related to animal product safety in Korea. The safety of livestock feed containing pesticides is assessed to establish maximum residue limits relative to pesticides. Analysis of residual pesticides in milk, muscle, brain, and fat was performed with a livestock residue test and safety evaluation of the detected pesticide was performed. Efficacy of organic solvent extraction and clean-up of feed was verified, and suitability of the instrument was examined to establish if they are effective, rapid, and safe. This review discussed extensively how pesticide residue tolerance in livestock feed and hazard evaluation may be applied in future studies.
