A Study on actual state of engineering education and research for improvement (공학교육의 실태와 개선방안에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, local industry target by analyzing the actual state of engineering education-oriented, demand for engineering education to come up with ways to improve. To this end, training human resources training program in engineering education practice Caps-tone design, Cooperative system, contract-type as the main theme of human resources in the southwestern industrial target academic staff investigate the actual conditions were run cooperative education programs. Survey, southwestern regional industry operating experience, most industry-university cooperative education program that was unsatisfactory. In addition, promoting Cooperative system experience in the industry will promote the future looked reservation position, while the Caps-tone design is somewhat academic partners participating a majority opinion education program run by the model will be developing. Regional strategy based on future demand for industry-oriented engineering education program for running is to come up with ways improvements.

On Implementing and Deploying Label Distribution Protocol in MultiProtocal Label Switching Systems (MPLS시스템에서 LDP 기능 구현 및 활용 방안)

  • ETF made the RFCs of MPLS technologies for providing the QoS of ATM or Frame Relay and the flexibility&scalability of IP on the Internet services. IETF has been expanding MPLS technologies as a common control component for supporting the various switching technologies called GMPLS. Also, IETF has standardized the signaling protocols based on such technologies, such as LDP, CR-LDP and RSVP-TE. ETRI developed the MPLS system based on ATM switch in order to provide more reliable services, differentiated services and value-added services like the VPN and traffic engineering service on the Korea Public Sector network. We are planning on deploying model services and commercial services on that network. This paper explains the basic functions of LDP, design and development of LDP on our system, and compares with LDP development and operation on other MPLS systems made by Cisco, Juniper, Nortel and Riverstone. In conclusion, this paper deduces the future services and applications by LDP through these explanation and comparison.

A Comparative Study on the Development Characteristic of Parks and Green Systems between Korea and Japan (한국과 일본 녹지체계의 발전 특성에 대한 연구)

  • Japan has been tried to integrate Western planning theories into its parks and green systems in the past. However this effect has been regarded unsuccessful. One of reasons for this is that the green systems have been treated as an urban facility, instead as systems. Another reason has to deal with greenbelt's stationary and reservation characteristics that make difficulty to respond timely to the rapid urbanization. The parks and green systems in Korea was introduced in 1990 and began to be promoted fully with the 'Parte and Green Master Plan' established in 2005. However, due to its short history, incomplete aspects exist in its philosophy and methods for promoting the system. Based on these experiences, the current green zone plans in Japan considers the green structure as an independent institution and amenity plan, not a tool of urban planning, that can be a medium for realization of urban visions. And main characteristics of this approach are 1) classifying the green structure into four categories in order to respond to urban forms and purposes, 2) pursuing confirmity with urban planning, and 3) executing the landscape plan based upon core green areas. From reviews upon experiences of Japan as well as considerations on demands and conditions of green systems in Korea, we proposed the following five new strategies for the construction of the urban parte and green system in Korea. They are 1) to develop urban parks and green systems into a genre of urban development improving the quality and local competitiveness of cities rather than a means of urban planning; 2) to form the integrated structure of urban green zones; 3) to transform the urban parte and green systems into practical systems as the centers of localities; 4) to raise criteria for planning and execution plans for effective implementations of the urban parte and green systems, and 5) to provide specific guidelines for the construction of urban parks and green systems through organizing research groups or specialists.

A Case Study on a Real-Time Enterprise to Improve Operational Efficiency of Medical Institutions - Centering on the Main Process of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital - (의료기관 운영 효율성 제고를 위한 실시간 기업(RTE) 사례 연구 - 서울성모병원 핵심 프로세스를 중심으로 -)

  • This is a case study of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital applying a real-time enterprise (RTE) strategy to improve customer satisfaction and operational efficiency with the main process of medical institutions. The hospital is applying an RTE strategy to get real-time information on occurrences at each contact point of the main process of the medical institution from reservation to discharge through dashboard and to resolve issues through rapid decision-making. The RTE strategy of the hospital has some summaries: First, the hospital has linked a hospital management strategy to the RTE strategy to build a patient-centered treatment process. Second, the hospital has operated a control tower for change management and implementation monitoring in the process of implementing the RTE strategy. Third, the hospital has built systematic RTE-based environment as an application program in which the nU System is linked to Business Processor Renovation (BPR) promoted from 2006 on. Fourth, the hospital is applying a strategy to improve efficiency in operating the hospital by increasing customer satisfaction, removing inefficiency and variability, and managing medical resources efficiently through the RTE strategy. Fifth, it has established an information-sharing system through authority management for each user in terms of RTE information. Sixth, it has supplemented limitations of short-term information of the RTE strategy by linking the key performance index to the cost information system in order to improve performance of the RTE strategy. Seventh, it has improved customer satisfaction and achieved higher performance in improving operational efficiency, as compared with rival hospitals, through the RTE strategy.

Planning System on Conservation and Improvement of Urban Forest - A Case Study in Daejon City, Korea - (도시림의 보호 및 증진관리를 위한 계획제도에 관한 연구 - 대전광역시를 사례로 -)

  • Urban forest area in South Korea has been increased up to 20.8% of national land as of 2007 by the mergence of municipalities and counties. The rate of park and green tract among urban forest averages out to about 4% nationally but the Capital, Seoul, almost 105% level, not easy to split the two. Park and green has positive management system because of its infrastructure attribute and relevant security obligation standard while urban forest left alone with no such concerns. The most important reason of the negligence comes from institutional inertia although it is possible to be managed functionally by forest laws as like forests of park, landscape, wind and noise protection, and timber product. As a results, it reaches below than 92.64% of the national average level of the timber stockpile especially in the metropolitan areas and loses broad acres rapidly due to the easy conversion system to the urban land usage. Therefore, there must be required some alternative methodologies to conserve and foster it. The paper proposes the four urban forest management types and their control methods. The four types divide into conservation, foster, development, and reservation ones. Also it suggests the five furtherance tract types with the combination among the four earlier types, optionally having one of the six aim climaxes and recommends the standardization of operation design. The total green quantity index of urban forest also suggested by the weight method according to location and DBH class. The case study of the suggested model was executed on the Daejon Metropolitan area and its index calculated as 110.4% level compared with the acreage.

A Study on the Using of Geo-Spatial Information System for Operation and Management of the Underground Facilities (지하시설물의 유지관리를 위한 지형공간정보시스템의 활용에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to use geo-spatial information system for effective operation and management of the underground facilities. The subject area is selected and collected all of the drawing in order to get the coordinate points(tic), which become the standard of the subject area and that can be gotten by way of practising control surveying from a existing triangulation station spatial information and attribute information are classificated from obtained data. Also, after giving the code in the attribute information to make it data-based, connecting spatial information with the attribute information to overlap layer each other, and compared the positional accuracy of the data. From the results of this study, conclusions are acquired as follows; 1) To construct the Database of the spatial and attribute data, which contain all kinds of drawings in underground structures, the reservation of registers and the details of changes and so on, results in easily referencing, compiling and analyzing the reserved data in system as their own purposes. 2) It is expected that we can effectively operate and manage the situation among the underground facilities so accurately that we may obviate the safety accidents or the damages of life and property.

  • This study aimed to compare the systems of ticketing application programs of three major movie theaters, CGV, Megabox, Lotte Cinema, with each other and evaluate the usability, and find problems to figure out user experiences for more convenient mobile ticketing. Experimental subjects with experiences of using apps of the movie theaters were recruited; First, as a primary task, they reserved movie tickets with each of the movie theater apps; Second, they had in-depth interviews with questions based on the model of Creating Pleasurable Interfaces by Stephen Anderson. As a result, users preferred the composition with information in order in overall, in which ticketing process went smoothly. In particular, users were more satisfied with convenient payment applications. Therefore, as an improving way, it is required to design an interface for users to recognize at a glance and a payment system within an app, not to design separate payment system out of the app. I hope this study will help actively conduct researches to maximize the usability in a way to reserve movie tickets through smartphone apps.

  • In this paper, based on the reference, we try to review the second issues about opening medical market and health care privatization by each topic and propose the measures and alternatives. Currently, in Korea, connection with launch of the WTO system and force of the FTA, the medical industries getting liberalization and globalization. Thus, it is expected to plunge to full-free competition system, and Korean medical institutions started the global competition which completely different dimension. It means that according to the liberalization of the healthcare market the real problem can be caused and also, the incessant discussion and effort for the implementation of international community are needed. Regard to attracting foreign patients and opening medical markets, the government also spreading the continued advancement strategy politically until now. However, generating problems with implication is inevitable and measures and alternatives to it are also needed. In accordance with the opening, the accompanying suggestions is medical privatization, that is, whether the health care pursue the profit not the not-for-profit and the current hospitals in Korea they are leaved as non-profit hospitals and let the make the subsidiary as general commercial enterprises, it seems indirect. However, it is like a healthcare privatization virtually thus, implication seem be large. Of course, through the public opinion and legal reservation, the liberalization and privatization of medical market can be delayed or not forced. It would be not fit in the flow of the inevitable globalization, it can be inhibited national interest and economic development also, and it can be the critical implications which shake the health system and collapse of the domestic health care market.

Performance Analysis of Call Admission Control Scheme with Bandwidth Borrowing and Bandwidth Reservation in GEO based Integrated Satellite Network (GEO 기반 위성 네트워크에서의 대역폭 빌림 방법과 대역폭 예약 방법을 이용한 호 수락 제어 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we propose the bandwidth borrowing scheme which improves the performance of the cal admission control of the integrated GEO satellite networks. In general, target transmission rates of communications and streaming services are fixed, but data services do not have the target transmission rates. Therefore, we can control the transmission rates for data services flexibly according to the system loading situation. When the available bandwidth of the system is insufficient, the bandwidth borrowing scheme gives the bandwidth to request real time services by the transmission rates control of data services through packet scheduler. We make the queueing model for our system model and demonstrate the results through simulations. The simulation results show that there is a 8.7-35.2 dB gain at the total blocking probability according to the use of bandwidth borrowing scheme.

Study of Sewage Treatment using Multi-soil-layering System (다단토양층을 이용한 하수처리에 관한 연구)

  • The sewages produced from small villages, rural community, drinking water reservation area and park which doesn't have sewage piping system can be caused a serious water pollution at the restricted areas. The objective of this research was to suggest an economical and effective sewage treatment method by investigating the removal of the organics, nitrogen, and phosphorus in the multi-soil-layering reactor. Soil, natural zeolite, and iron slag were used as a supporting media of multi-soil-layering in this research. The purpose of natural zeolite addition was to maintain the consistent ammonium exchange capacity by providing a sequential environment, and that of iron slag addition was to remove phosphorus by adsorption. Continuous experiment of lab-scale single-soil-layering (S-1), multi-soil-layering (S-2), and mixed-soil-layering (S-3) methods were studied to compare and optimize three different types of the reactors. The organic removal efficiencies showed more than 90% in all three reactors. While S-1 and S-3 reactors showed about T-N removal of 31%, 45%, respectively, the average T-N removal efficiency of the S-2 reactor represented an 87%. In conclusion, that results suggest that the multi-soil-layering reactor could be effectively utilized as a plant for treatment of small village sewage.
