Departments of Dental Technology An improvement plan of Curriculum - Focus on graduated students - (치기공과 교육과정의 개선 방안 - 졸업생을 중심으로 -)

  • This research is designed for a consumer, not a supplier when it was designed. And the purpose is to present the reference data which is in order to improve the curriculum by analyzing the present subject of the curriculum. The research collected the curriculum for Dental Technology from a total of 20 schools --3-year colleges and 4-year colleges-- all in Korea. And we analyzed the average credits of subjects from students. As a result of this analysis, we get the conclusion below: 1. In a distribution which students answered about each subjects; Dental esthetic, Dental morphology I II, Dental morphology practice I II, and Seminar don't have many credits and mostly have a converged tendency in high points, according to the arithmetic mean of the major basis subjects. 2. In an analysis of the correlation which is based on the distinction of sex; Dental ceramics practice III, Medical terminology, Seminar, and The major basis subjects have a meaningful difference. (${\rho}$ < 0.05) 3. In an analysis of the correlation which is based on an age; The major basis subjects, and the application subjects have meaningful difference. (${\rho}$ < 0.05) 4. In a correlation coefficient between subjects; The correlation coefficient of the major application subjects is higher than the major basis subjects. According to the student ? t, we found that the level of significance is ${\rho}$ < 0.001, which is meaningful. We feel that Department of Dental Technology also highly need to design, and conduct focusing on a consumer who is working at the society, not a supplier. And we need to increase or decrease credits which have a meaningful difference.

  • The Survey of Teaching Practice and the Factors of Satisfaction on Teaching Practice in Home economics Education The purpose of this study was to investigate teaching practice and factors on satisfaction of educational practice in home economics education of middle and high school, to provide information for improving educational practice. The subjects were 365 college students who had the educational practice in 1999. A questionnaire was used. The results were as follows: 1. Seventy on point eight percent of the subjects choose their teaching-practice school by themselves, however 25.2% of them was recommended by college. Twenty five point six percent of the subjects satisfied the orientation of the college, but 32.8% of them didn’t. Thirty four point four percent of the subjects indicated the form of practice documents was good, whereas 27.9% of them it needed more improvement. 2. Fifty four point eight percent of the subjects used their own research room. The orientation of teaching-practice school was good(36.4%) but 20.0% of the subjects dissatisfied. Eighty nine percent of the subjects managed the class as vice supervisory teachers, 46^ of them had example instruction, the number of subjects practised at middle school and public school were more than high school and private school respectively. 3. The score of educational expertise of teachers was 3.66 and the teacher educators’was 3.85 The score of educational expertise of the teacher educators who were in college of education(3.87) was higher than in general teacher course(3.77) at p$\leq$0.05 4. The score of educational practice satisfaction in the all subjects was 3.67. The factors to effect the satisfaction of the educational practice were the kind of research room, the orientation plan of the practice school and the management of the class, The score of the educational practice satisfaction was correlated with the score of educational expertise of teachers and teacher educators. and the agrresive attitude to the teaching practice of the teacher educators.

Plasma Choline Concentration of Some Korean Young Adults and Correlation with Dietary Choline Intake (젊은 성인의 혈장 콜린 농도와 콜린 섭취량과의 상관성)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the concentration of plasma choline of Korean and to clarify the relationship between plasma choline concentration and choline intake. Plasma choline concentration of 30 young adults (15 males, 15 females) aged 20-30 years living in Deajeon metropolitan city are analyzed and their dietary choline intake. Choline content of one day meal was directly analyzed with the use of enzymatic method. Plasma choline concentration from more than 12 hr fasting blood was analyzed by using HPLC-MS. Choline intakes of male subjects were in the range of 253.51-1724.14 mg and those of female subjects were in the range of 240.85-938.06 mg. Mean intakes of choline were $634.53{\pm}353.68mg$ in male subjects and $473.99{\pm}183.76mg$ in female subjects. Plasma choline concentration of total subjects was in the range of 5.08-14.01 ${\mu}mol/L$. Mean plasma choline concentration was $9.19{\pm}2.05{\mu}mol/L$ in male subjects and $8.11{\pm}1.70{\mu}mol/L$ in female subjects. Plasma choline concentration did not show significant correlation with choline intake in male and total subjects, but showed positive correlation with choline intake in female subjects (p<0.05). This result shows that more studies on large scaled samples are needed.

  • In this research, we analyze the factors considered by parents of subjects of special education when selecting special educational institutions for children, and present proposals for improving the placement plan of special subjects, The results are as follows. First, for special education subjects, a considerable number of kindergarten processes are required for compulsory education, and special education subjects are selected for elementary school entrance. Second, the factors of choosing the special educational institution of parents of special education subjects are the expertise of the teacher and the operation of the curriculum, the type and extent of child disability, the distance to school and the way of commuting, educational facilities, Treatment room etc). Thirdly, it was found that parents' choices are the largest among schools in the school area, as to how special education institutions of special education subjects are arranged. For proper placement planning, it is necessary to accurately grasp the number of subjects for special education, so the selection time of the subjects of special education shall be the process of kindergarten at the latest, the disparity of special education institutions and the disparity of educational facilities It is necessary to set school books to solve it.

Assessment of Gait Ability of Subjects With Chronic Ankle Instability During an Inter-trial Variability Gait Task According to Changes in Gait Speed

  • Background: Ankle sprains occur frequently among humans who undertake various body movements. Diverse walking environments and dual tasks, that can affect ankle sprains, have been studied. However, there is a lack of research on inter-trial variability according to the changes in gait speed. Objects: The purpose of this study was to compare the adaptive ability of walking between the subjects with chronic ankle instability and healthy adults while performing a walking task with different walking speeds. Methods: In this study, 24 people in the chronic ankle instability group and 24 people in the healthy ankle group were selected as subjects. The length of the pre-measurement and the actual walking measurement were both set to 4.6 m. Once the subjects entered the measurement section, they changed their gait speed according to the randomly assigned speed change. Gait was measured twice and the average value was used for the analysis. Results: The coefficient of variation (CV) of cycle time in subjects with chronic ankle instability showed a significant difference in all cases except when the subjects changed their speed from preferred to slow and from slow to preferred. The CV of step length demonstrated a significant difference in all cases except for the change from slow to preferred and from preferred to fast. The cycle time and step length differential showed a significant difference only when the subjects changed the speed from slow to fast. Conclusion: The subjects with chronic ankle instability were found to have significantly reduced walking adaptability while performing inter-trial variability tasks with different gait speeds compared to healthy subjects.

  • The purpose of this study were to measured peak torque of lumbar extensor at various degrees and to compare with the choronic low back pain patients and healthy subjects back extensor peak torque. Thirty generation was all degree of angle in lumbar extention peak torque in choronic low back pain patients back extensor are lower than healthy subjects(p<.05). 4. Forty generation was all degree of angle in lumbar extention peak torque in choronic low back pain patients back extensor are lower than healthy subjects(p<;.05). 5. Fifty generation was all degree of angle in lumbar extention peak torque in choronic low back pain patients back extensor are lower than healthy subjects(p<.05). 6. A Study on the Implementation of the Elective Curriculum in Academic High Schools (일반계 고등학교 선택중심 교육과정의 운영 실태 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the implementation of the elective curriculum in academic high school. Elective curriculum of the high school seems to take more important status than that in the 6th national curriculum. The number of elective subjects of the high school increased from 60 different subjects for the 6th national curriculum to 79 different subjects for the 7th national curriculum. In addition, students can make their own courses and have a right to choose the subjects. In order to ascertain how elective subjects are being implemented and whether students can choose the subjects they wish to learn, this study conducted a national survey. The results of this survey are as follows. Despite the emphasis of the 7th national curriculum on the elective subjects in academic high schools, the curriculum implementation of elective subjects seems to be unacceptable. In most schools, only two typical courses such as humanities/social sciences and natural sciences courses are being offered for students as elective courses, and the scope of elective subjects students can choose appears very narrow. That's why we need to do research in order to improve implementation of elective subjects.

Comparison of Subjective and Objective Sleep Quality in Subjects with and without Hyper-kyphosis

  • Purpose: This study compared the subjective and objective sleep quality between subjects with and without thoracic hyper-kyphosis. Methods: Forty participants were divided into a hyper-kyphosis (n=17) and normal group (n=17) by thoracic spinal angle measurement. The subjective sleep quality was measured using PSQI, a self-report, and objective sleep quality was measured using an actigraphy that measures time according to sleep patterns. Results: The PSQI scores of subjects with thoracic hyper-kyphosis were significantly higher than those with normal thoracic curvature (p=0.013). The total sleep time and real sleep time were less in subjects with hyper-kyphosis than in normal subjects (p=0.006; p=0.029). The light sleep time was less in subjects with excessive spondylolisthesis than in normal subjects (p=0.010). Light sleep time was less in those with hyper-kyphosis, but deep sleep time was similar to the subjects with a normal thoracic curvature (p=0.003; p=0.140). Conclusion: Subjects with thoracic hyper-kyphosis had a decrease in subjective sleep quality, such as sleep discomfort, and objective sleep quality, such as a decrease in sleep time compared to normal subjects.

The Relationship between Pain Perception Scale and Keratinization Rate of Oral Mucosa to Nd-YAG Laser Stimulation in Burning Mouth Syndrome Patients (구강작열감 증후군 환자에서 Nd-YAG 레이저 조사에 대한 구강점막 부위의 통증 인지도와 점막세포 각화도와의 관계)

  • In order to determine how oral mucosal change relates to inducing factors of burning mouth syndrome, the difference in pain perception scale and keratinization rate between burning mouth syndrome patients and normal subjects were investigated. Twenty patients (13 female, 7 male, mean age: 59 years), presenting in the Department of Oral Medicine, Chonnam National University Hospital were participated in this study. All subjects had been complaining of constant oral burning pain for more than a year, none took any strong analgesics, and none had oral mucosal lesions. Twenty volunteers (11 females, 9 males, mean age: 25 years) were also participated in this study as a control group. The control subjects had never had any symptoms of oral burning pain. A thermal stimulation using a Nd-YAG laser and cytological smear were carried out to anterodorsal part of tongue, tip of tongue, the left buccal mucosa, the lower lip mucosa and the chief complaint site. Stimulation of the dorsum of left hand was also carried out to contrast the mucosal area of burning mouth syndrome subjects and the control subjects. The laser output power could be adjusted from 0.75W to 4W. The pain perception scale of the burning mouth syndrome subjects were lower than in control subjects in the chief complaint area, the anterodorsal part of tongue and the buccal mucosa(p<0.01). The keratinization rate of burning mouth syndrome subjects, however, was higher keratinization rate than in normal subjects in the same area and lower lip mucosa(p<0.001). From above results, the anterodorsal part of tongue is the most appropriate site to use diagnostic laser stimulation. The higher level of keratinization and the lower level of thermal pain perception of the burning mouth syndrome subjects are explained as a protective mechanism against xerostomia and burning sensations. The application of Nd-YAG laser stimuli and cytological smear to oral mucosal surface could therefore be usefully employed as appropriate and standardized diagnostic tools for chronic orofacial pain subjects.

An Analysis of Research Behaviors in Bibliotherapy Programs: Focusing on Journal Articles during 2001-2014 (독서치료 프로그램의 연구행태 분석 - 2001년-2014년 학술논문을 중심으로 -)

  • This study was conducted to contribute to the improvement of bibliotherapy programs in the LIS field by analyzing 76 bibliotherapy program researches of 6 different major fields published in journals during 2001 to 2014. The programs were analyzed in terms of research trends, major areas, subjects and detail subjects. According to the study, the proportion of graduate students was higher than that of professors and instructors in terms of researchers' status in LIS and psychology. Also, programs for elementary students were found to be frequently carried out in schools and libraries by all fields. As for the topics of the programs, self-esteem was the most frequent topic and others such as depression, broken families, sociality, academic achievement and interpersonal relationships were also being dealt with. Detail subjects, measurement tools and application data have been proposed according to different research subjects.
