Project manager plays a very important role in the success of any project. The primary duty of the project manager is to combine the outcomes or results of the various processes and activities of project management into a systematic project management strategy or plan for the project. In the construction industry, a lack of motivation is an urgent problem for many project managers in construction and engineering projects. Lack of motivation affects the quality and productivity of jobs, reducing profits and growth for companies, businesses, contractors or organizations that rely on human resources. The reasons for this lack of motivation are diverse ranging from salary to culture to life and working environment, among others. Through surveys and data analysis using Cronbach's Alpha reliability and EFA (Exploratory Factor Analysis), our research scaled the factors affecting work motivation of project managers in the construction industry in Vietnam. The research results identified six major groups of relevant factors including (i) salary and benefits, (ii) work environment, (iii) promotion opportunities, (iv) organizational culture, (v) interest in the job, and (vi) relationship with the organization. From there, this paper contributed useful information as well as measures for businesses, companies, contractors or organizations in the construction industry.

The market size of plant projects in overseas is so large that domestic EPC project contractors are actively seeking the overseas projects and then trying to meet completion plans since successful fulfillment of these projects can provide great opportunities for them to expand into new foreign markets. International EPC projects involve all of the uncertainties common to domestic projects as well as uncertainties specific to foreign projects including marine transportation, customs, regulations, nationality, culture and so on. When overseas project gets off-schedule, the resulting uncertainty may trigger unexpected exceptions and then critical effects to the project performance. It usually require much more time and costs to encounter these exceptions in foreign sites compared to domestic project sites. Therefore, an exception handling approach is required to manage exceptions effectively for successful project progress in foreign project sites. In this research, we proposed a methodology for prediction and evaluation of exceptions caused by risks in international EPC projects based on sensitivity analysis and Bayesian Networks. First, we identified project schedule risks and related exceptions, which may meet during the fulfillment of foreign EPC projects that is performed in a sequence of engineering, procurement, preparatory manufacture, foreign shipping, construction, inspection and modification activities, and affect project performance, using literature review and expert interviews. The impact of exceptions to the schedule delay were also identified. Second, we proposed a methodology to predict the occurrence of exceptions caused by project risks and evaluate them. Using sensitivity analysis, we can identify activities that critically affect schedule delay and need to focus by priority. Then, we use Bayesian Networks to predict and evaluate exceptions. Third, we applied the proposed methodology to an international EPC project example to validate the proposed approach. Finally, we concluded the research with the further research topics. We expect that the proposed approach can be extended to apply in exception management in project management.

Lipopolysaccharide, siderophore, and cyclic dipeptide have been shown to be necessary for ISR induction by pseudomnads. However, there is no report on cloning of genes or generating specific mutants involving in ISR activity. A biological control bacteium P. chlororaphis O6 induces resistance to Erwinia carotovora subsp. carotovara SCCI in tobacco and induces drought resistance in Arabidopsis. To isolate genes involved in ISR activity and induction of drough resistance of O6, we constructed Tn5 mutants and were used to screen for ISR activity and drought resistance activity using microtiter assay with tobacco and Arabidopsis. Thirty-three ISR-deficient mutants were selected, and the nine ISR-deficient mutants were also lost activity of drought resistance. The flanking sequence analysis of the ISR and drought resistance-deficient mutants showed that a gacS gene encoding a two-component sensor kinase, and a mce gene encoding a protein involved in mycobacterial cell entry were mutated. The flanking sequence of each Tn5 mutant altered ISR activity is currently under investigation. These results indicate that gacS and mce are important genes in induction of ISR activity and drought resistance of P. chlororaphis O6. Our works will open opportunities for identification of bacterial genes or traits that are involved in ISR activity and induced drought resistance of P. chlororaphis O6.
As job rotation provides various job experiences and opportunities to develop potential abilities to employees, it is considered as a strategy for key human resources management to improve individual and organization's competitiveness. Therefore, to practically verify how employees at public companies having perception of job rotation influences on organization effectiveness, based on document research, we examined the viewpoints of perception on job rotation(operating procedure, individual development, career management) and viewpoints of organization effectiveness(job satisfaction, organizational commitment, organizational loyalty) and empirically analyzed organizational relationships. As a result, First, as the perception of job rotation, the operational procedures have a positive effect on job satisfaction, and the operational procedures and career management have a positive effect on organizational commitment. Second, job satisfaction has a positive effect on organizational commitment. Third, job satisfaction and organizational commitment have a positive effect on organizational loyalty. From this research, importance of perception on job rotation is verified in order to improve public companies' organizational effectiveness. This research has a purpose to suggest practical implication to improve the competitiveness of individual and organization at public companies.
This research investigates how pre-service music teachers demonstrated pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) and self-efficacy during a 16-week Music Education Course. 37 pre-service music teachers underwent peer mentoring, and prepared teaching guides and class teaching demonstrations. At the end of the course, the 37 participants' teacher self-efficacy and PCK components (namely pedagogical knowledge, representational knowledge, subject matter knowledge, assessment knowledge, student characteristics knowledge, curriculum knowledge, and context and social knowledge) were assessed. Data on their self-efficacy and PCK were gathered through a group interview and their self-reflection journals, and analyzed as phenomenological experience research. Analyses of the data show that pre-service music teachers acquired diverse knowledge. It also showed that peer mentoring enhanced the pre-service music teachers' self-efficacy, enabling them to prepare teaching guides and confidently demonstrate classes. Thus, diverse opportunities in research and practical class demonstrations contributed to pre-service music teachers' PCK and self-efficacy.

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) practice is still popular among the Malaysian population nowadays although western or allopathic medicine is the first line of treatment. Dissatisfaction with health services and therapeutic effects of western medicine or preference for holistic, integrative approach in treatment are common reasons favouring the increasing popularity of CAM practices. The efforts toward integration of CAM and western medicine in Malaysia were rather slow and in a piece-meal fashion. Strategic efforts in strengthening government and self-regulation among practitioners, formalizing education, promoting research, and cultivating national and international networks are necessary to achieve an integrative system. Regulations to restrict the practice and sale of CAM products to licensed practitioners, strict and mandatory registration of the practitioners, inclusion of CAM in essential medicines list, and pricing regulations must be comprehensively discussed. Development of curriculum, offers of scholarship and incentives, promotion of courses and seminars for professionals is necessary to increase the numbers of CAM experts. Malaysia should follow the efforts of other countries on the production and documentation of local CAM data, allocation of funding, and establishment of research centres to assess the efficacy of potentially useful local products. Local and international collaboration in research and continuous education is important for exchange of knowledge and skills. In conclusion more coordinated efforts in regulation of CAM practice and products, formalizing CAM training and education would significantly move the process forward and allow the public to enjoy more health benefits from CAM practice in Malaysia.
Recently, the reconsideration of the worth of Brand marketing asked marketers and designers alike to deal with the reappearance of Brand marketing on the web environment. The most significant changes are the appearing numerous Brand Sites and the efforts of Brand marketing on the internet. For this paper, I first study about the concept of Brand Sites, and then research the sites from various industrial fields which are selected as a leading Brand by consumers. Through this research, I inspect the realities of applying multimedia contents on domestic Brand web sites, and consider the effects they might have in the building of Brand Images on web sites. In Conclusion, I suggest that the design strategies for applying multimedia contents in the Brand Sites. The purpose of this study is for extending the design opportunities for multimedia contents in the internet. Furthermore, I am continuing my research through studying the interrelationship between Brand recognition and multimedia content usage that are appearing on Brand Sites.

Energy efficiency is vital to improve energy security, environmental and social sustainability, and economic performance. Improved energy efficiency also mitigates climate change by lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Buildings are the single largest industrial consumer of energy and are therefore key to understanding and analyzing energy consumption patterns and the opportunities for saving energy at the district level in urban environments. This study focused on two representative boroughs in the major metropolitan area of Seoul, South Korea as a case study: Gandong-gu, a typical residential district, and Jung-gu, a typical commercial district. The sources of the energy supplied to the boroughs were determined and consumption patterns in different industry sectors in Seoul used to identify current patterns of energy consumption. The study analyzed the energy consumption patterns for five different building categories and four different sectors in the building using a bottom-up energy modeling approach. Electricity and gas consumption patterns were recorded for different building categories and monthly ambient temperatures in the two boroughs. Finally, a logarithmic equation was developed to describe the correlation between commercial activity and cooling energy intensity in Jung-gu, the commercial district. Based on these results, recommendations are made regarding the current energy consumption patterns at the district level and government energy policies are suggested to reduce energy consumption and, hence, greenhouse gas emissions, in both commercial and residential buildings.
The displacement of business tenants is of growing concern in urban redevelopment. This research focuses on why business tenants have not collectively taken action against urban redevelopment and explores how their rights can be improved. It met the research aim through a case study on one urban redevelopment area in Yongsan. Although urban redevelopment plans create many problems for business tenants, there is no effective mechanism in place to enable them to get involved in the decision-making procedures of urban planning. They are collectively and individually powerless in urban politics, so they do not have enough opportunities to change the Korean urban redevelopment system. The findings from this research suggest that many tenants have been apathetic to anti-gentrification movements due to their powerlessness in the urban redevelopment domain. In order to overcome structural injustice, it is important to improve business tenants' awareness of 'the right to the city' and enforce strong legislation to safeguard tenants.
Purpose: This study aimed to explore ecological factors and strategies for childhood obesity prevention targeting vulnerable children using a community-based participatory research (CBPR) methodology. Methods: The CBPR was conducted by following basic process steps. Participants were 12 community stakeholders such as community child center directors (n=4), vulnerable children's mothers (n=3), community health center officials (n=2), and lay health advisors (n=4); they were purposively sampled from K municipal county in Seoul, South Korea. The qualitative content analysis was performed to explore main themes of the ecological factors and strategies by using data obtained from 5 times of focus group interview. Results: Twelve ecological factors associated with childhood obesity prevention were identified: Intrapersonal factors including emotional overeating; interpersonal factors including permissive parenting style of children's eating behaviors; organizational factors including social workers' less educational opportunities; and community/policy factors including less government financial support. Four ecological strategies for childhood obesity prevention were addressed: Developing obesity prevention programs targeting vulnerable children' lifestyles; promoting parents' active participation in education; building healthy meal service environments through empowering social workers; and building supportive community environment and securing community resources for child obesity prevention. Conclusion: Our findings may be informative in terms of providing a comprehensive understanding of multi-level ecological barriers against vulnerable children' obesity prevention and, moreover, guiding multi-level strategies for preventing childhood obesity targeting children enrolled in community child centers.
