  • Fault management of virtualized network environments using user-driven network provisioning systems (NPSs) is crucial for guaranteeing seamless virtual network services irrespective of physical infrastructure impairment. The network service interface (NSI) of the Open Grid Forum reflects the need for a common standard management API for the reservation and provisioning of user-driven virtual circuits (VCs) across global networks. NSI-based NPSs (that is, network service agents) can be used to compose user-driven VCs for mission-critical applications in a dynamic multi-domain. In this article, we first attempt to outline the design issues and challenges faced when attempting to provide mission-critical applications using dynamic VCs with a protection that is both user-driven and trustworthy in a dynamic multi-domain environment, to motivate work in this area of research. We also survey representative works that address inter-domain VC protection and qualitatively evaluate them and current NSI against the issues and challenges.

  • This study examined the concept and status, research issues, and pragmatic and policy issues of school-dropout adolescents. As the number of school-dropout adolescents has been increasing in Korea since 2006, more attentions have been given to these adolescents academically, intervention and policy-wise. Some of the research topics on them include types of school-dropouts, their socio-environmental factors, and reasons for the increase of school-dropouts. In reality, the government is required to provide them with opportunities to cope with their dropping out of schools by preparing the career guidance for them and to resolve the issues of their returning to or continuing in school education and their welfare.

  • In a rapidly changing and increasingly technological society. the use of technology should not be disregarded in issues of learning algebra. The use of technology in learning algebra raises many learning and pedagogical issues. In this article, previous research on the use of technology in learning algebra is synthesized on the basis of the four issues: conceptual understanding, skills, instrumental genesis, and transparency. Finally, suggestions for future research into technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPCK) are made.

  • The security threat types in underwater communication networks environment are almost the same as the terrestrial, but the security of mechanisms the terrestrial RF-based networks environment can not be directly applied due to not only the limited resources of each node but also unsafe channel such as low propagation delay, high bit error rate etc. Nevertheless there has not been much research on the security of underwater acoustic communication networks. Therefore, in this paper analyzes the differences between the terrestrial communication networks and underwater acoustic communication networks, and identifies issues that are the starting points of underwater communication networks security research.

  • There have been lots of research on temporal data management for the past two decades. Most of them are based on some logical data model, especially on the relational data model, although there are some conceptual data models which are independent of logical data models. Also, many properties or issues regarding temporal data models and temporal query languages have been studied. But some of them were shown to be incompatible, which means there could not be a complete temporal data model, satisfying all the desired properties at the same time. Many modeling issues discussed in the papers, do not have to be done so, if they take object-oriented data model as a base model. Therefore, this paper proposes a temporal data model, which is based on the object-oriented data model, mainly discussing the most essential issues that are common to many temporal data models. Our new temporal data model and query language will be illustrated with a small database, created by a set of sample transaction.

  • Documents contain information that can be used for various applications, such as question answering (QA) system, information retrieval (IR) system, and recommendation system. To use the information, it is necessary to develop a method of extracting such information from the documents written in a form of natural language. There are several kinds of the information (e.g., temporal information, spatial information, semantic role information), where different kinds of information will be extracted with different methods. In this paper, the existing studies about the methods of extracting the temporal information are reported and several related issues are discussed. The issues are about the task boundary of the temporal information extraction, the history of the annotation languages and shared tasks, the research issues, the applications using the temporal information, and evaluation metrics. Although the history of the tasks of temporal information extraction is not long, there have been many studies that tried various methods. This paper gives which approach is known to be the better way of extracting a particular part of the temporal information, and also provides a future research direction.

  • Due to changes in the form factor of display panels and touch screen panels in various devices, capacitive touch systems have evolved to address various issues such as low power consumption, noise immunity, and small chip size. Furthermore, some devices have applications that use a stylus. Since the stylus operates similarly to a finger touch, it encounters similar issues. Recent research trends focus on addressing key issues such as noise, which is primarily caused by the self-capacitor formed between the display cathode and the touch screen panel. In this paper, Various research papers discussing methods to eliminate external noise will be reviewed. These advancements enhance noise immunity in touch systems, making it easier to use thinner and more flexible panels. These progress make touch technology more versatile and reliable in various applications.
