  • The purpose is to produce a model of nuclear reactor trip logic caused by the steam generator water level of Wolsong 2/3/4 unit through an activity chart and a statechart and to produce C language automatically using Statechart-based Formalism and Stalemate MAGNUM toolset suggested by David Harel Formalism. It was worth attempting auto-generation of C language though we manually made Software Requirement Specification(SRS) for safety-critical software using statechart-based formalism. Most of the phases of the software life-cycle except the software requirement specification of an analysis phase were generated automatically by Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools. It was verified that automatically produced C language has high productivity, portability, and quality through the simulation.

  • A high-speed rail system represents a typical example of large-scale multi-disciplinary systems, consisting of subsystems such as train, electrical hardware, electronics, control, information, communication, civil technology etc. The system design and acquisition data of the large-scale system must be the subject under strict configuration control and management. Not only the requirements of the large-scale system dictate the contracts with the suppliers but also become the basis for the development process, project execution, system integration, and testing. The requirements database provide the system design specification of all development activities. Using the RDD-100, a systems engineering tool, the Korea next-generation high-speed rail program can establish requirements traceability and development process management in performing the enabling train technology development projects. This paper presents the results from a computer-aided systems engineering application to the Korea next-generation high-speed railway project. Especially, the focus of the study was on requirement management and PBS(Product Breakdown Structure) management.

  • This paper presents a new dynamic approach for assessing feasibility associated with the implementation of accident management strategies by the operators. This approach includes the combined use of both the concept of reliability physics and a dynamic event tree generation scheme. The reliability physics is based on the concept of a comparison between two competing variables, i.e., the requirement and the achievement parameter, while the dynamic event tree generation scheme on the continuous generation of the possible event sequences at every branch point up to the desired solution. This approach is applied to a cavity flooding strategy in a reference plant, which is to supply water into the reactor cavity using emergency fire systems in the station blackout sequence. The MAAP code and Latin Hypercube sampling technique are used to determine the uncertainty of the requirement parameter. It has been demonstrated that this combined methodology may contribute to assessing the success likelihood of the operator actions required during accidents and therefore to developing the accident management procedures.

  • As the introduction of wind power is steadily increasing, negative effects of wind power become more important. To operate a power system more reliable, the system operator needs to recognize the maximum required capacity of available generators for a certain period. For recognizing the maximum capacity, this paper proposes a methodology to determine an optimal reserve requirement considering wind power, for the certain period in the mid-term perspective. As wind speed is predicted earlier, the difference of the forecasted and the actual wind speed becomes greater. All possible forecast errors should be considered in determining optimal reserve, and they are represented explicitly by the proposed matrix form in this paper. In addition, impacts of the generator failure are also analyzed using the matrix form. Through three main stages which are the scheduling, contingency and evaluation stages, costs associated with power generation, reserve procurement and the usage, and the reliability cost are calculated. The optimal reserve requirement is determined so as to minimize the sum of these costs based on the cost/reliability analysis. In case study, it is performed to analyze the impact of wind power penetration on the reserve requirement, and how major factors affect it.

  • The important requirement for microgrid operation is to meet the balance between supply and demand. To meet, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generation should be considered in microgrid scheduling. CHP generation is economical on the side of a consumer because it products heat and power. Therefore, it is high efficient. This paper presents a mathematical model for optimal microgrid operation including CHP generation using the optimal ratio of heat and power due to demand. The objective function and constraints are modeled by linear program (LP). Through the case study, the validation of the proposed model is shown.

  • Recently, power requirement has been increasing. But the large generation unit is hardly installed because of economic and environment problem. Therefore, the concern for DG(distributed generation) is growing. Present, allowable interconnection capacity of DG for composite distributed generation is studied. In this paper, it is studied that the new interconnection capacity of DG for composite distribution system interconnected DG. We study new allowable interconnection capacity by power factor and placement. We study SERV(sending end reference voltage) variation and allowable interconnection capacity interconnected new DG.

  • This paper proposes an enhanced distributed generation (DG) unit with an adaptive virtual impedance control approachin order to address the inaccurate reactive power sharing problems. The proposed method can adaptively regulate the DG unit thanks to the equivalent impedance, andthe effect of the mismatch in feeder impedance is compensatedto share the reactive power accurately. The proposed control strategy can be implemented directly without any requirement of pre-knowledge of the feeder impedances. Simulations are performed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control approach.

  • We present an intelligent forging simulator AFDEX. The intelligent forging simulator is determined by the adaptive and optimal mesh generation technique and many intelligent application-oriented special functions which minimize the user-intervention during forging simulation. Of course, the solution accuracy should be optimized in the intelligent simulation. We have developed AFDEX to meet the requirement on intelligent simulation. Its characteristics are introduced with the help of typical application examples.

  • This study suggests for effective operation of systematic analysis method for human factors which is based on the requirement architecture framework a requirement process to manage requirements for improvement is discussed, such as in requirements generation, database construction, management of experimental design, and management of the design traceability. For the objectives, we analyzed the method construct of the starting point views of user requirement which is adopted the requirement architecture concept to cover the whole activities required to do and the human factors guidelines and standards are suggested for verification and validation of the develop requirements. It is getting more attention as the operation of the enabling systems goes up these days. Throughout the propose of this study, human factors requirement database design presented in operational environment system for enabling system which is based on case study using a computer aided se tool. This study will be contributed to how the operational requirement database for the enabling system and operational human factors can be constructed in an integrated system design fashion.
