Experimental Study for Performance Evaluation of Gate Valve (게이트밸브의 성능평가를 위한 실험적 연구)

  • It is necessary to evaluate periodically the performance of the AOV(air-operated valve) which is used for controlling flow and pressure in nuclear power plant. The required thrust for actuating valve and available thrust of actuator are calculated with conditions of flow through a valve in this study and operating performance is analyzed through comparing two thrusts. In general, differential pressure is increased according to increase the flow rate and differential pressure affects the required thrust of valve. We found the fact that it is possible not to close the valve perfectly because required thrust becomes bigger than available thrust of actuator.

  • The effect due to group delay and non linear characteristics in high speed data satellite channel was represented in this paper. Based on the modeling of group delay and non linear characteristics the performance was analyzed in ka band satellite channel. The group delay and non-linear characteristics in high speed data transmission severely affect the system performance. The more Eb/No is required to satisfy the required system performance. The optimum operating points of HDR satellite transmission system are implemented by considering analyzed results for channel characteristics

  • This study focuses on applying performance-based design to construction standard in building construction. First, it realizes situation and issues of standard specification in building construction, deduces the need factors for establishing performance-based construction standard, and then, it proposes the application of performance standard. The required stages for deducing performance-based construction standard consist of dividing building parts, deducing required functions, performance items and performance requirement and deciding a method of performance evaluation. Through these stages, performance-based design process is deduced.

  • In order for concrete as a basic material constituting reinforced concrete structure to meet the required performance, it is necessary to satisfy various requirements in concrete construction. Among them, form work has significant effects not only on the process of molding fresh concrete but also on the quality and performance of hardened concrete. Recently, the decrease and aging of form workers is becoming a great problem in the construction industry and, as a result, it is required to rationalize form works and reduce labor costs for employing form workers. Because form construction methods decide the type of form according to required performance, it is necessary to develop various form construction methods and examine their performance. Thus the present study purposed to expand the scope of application of form construction methods and, for this purpose, investigated the basic characteristics of rib- lath form and presented a system form construction method.

  • The most important task in acquiring the weapon system is to determine the required performance and to test & evaluate it. The importance of the weapon system by ROC (Required Operational Capability) is not considered, and system development and test evaluation are carried out. In addition, technical incidental performance is tested on the same basis as ROC in the test evaluation and determined according to the result. Development test and evaluation that evaluates technical ability is very important, but development agency is supervised and performed. In this paper, we propose a method to give weights considering the importance of ROC, a technical incidental performance determination and test procedure, and a improvement plan for the development and operational test & evaluation.

  • In tall building construction, It is important to reduce construction duration of slab form work. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to assess the required performance for reduction of construction duration in slab form work of tall buildings. We surveyed the required performance and their degrees of importance and economical efficiency through the interview and questionnaire survey by related experts. This study proposes the guideline to develop improved formwork system for reduction of construction duration.

  • The performance of magnetic levitation controller is affected from not only levitation control algorithm but also the interaction between compositing system, so it is important to design maglev system considering the character of magnetic levitation controller in order to get the required performance of Maglev. The factors affecting the levitation controller of maglev are the dynamics of levitation magnet, the carrying weight of the overall system, the normal force and lateral force of traction motor and rail condition. In this paper the interaction between magnet and vehicle weight is analysed on side of stability of levitation controller in order to get the required performance of levitation controller.

A Study on the Performance Standards for a Natural Type Landscaping Rocks by Utilizing GFRC(Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) (유리섬유강화콘크리트를 이용한 자연형 경관석의 성능기준 연구)

  • This study aims to establish the performance standard for natural type landscape stone GFRC. The required performance such as material performance, structural safety performance, durability performance, and landscape performance were selected through an examination of domestic and overseas performance related references and examples, and through the questionnaires obtained from 40 experts, and the verified items and performance standards were proposed. Among the required performances, the material performance(glass fiber content, air-dried gravity), structural safety performance(flexural strength, compressive strength), durability performance(crack, corrosion resistance), and landscape performance(texture, efflorescence) were selected through the questionnaires obtained from the experts. In the case of material performance and structural safety performance with the corresponding standards that existed, final performance evaluation standard was proposed by conducting a test and comparing it with the existing standard sample, and in the case of durability performance and landscape performance on which standard does not existed, they were verified by measuring directly through field examination of formative landscape items such as artificial waterfall etc. In this study, performance standard for the material on natural type landscaping rocks GFRC and items which can be evaluated after construction such as material performance, structural safety performance, durability performance, landscape performance, and so forth were proposed, however, follow up study for pro-environmental and ecological performance standard which were recently gaining force would be required through a continuous monitoring for the construction samples afterwards.

Navigation Performance Analysis Method for Integrated Navigation System of Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

  • Currently, the operation of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is regulated to be able to fly only within the visible range, but in recent years, the needs for operation in the invisible area, in the urban area and at night have increased. In order to operate UAVs in the invisible area, at night, and in the urban area, a flight path for UAVs must be prepared like those operated by manned aircraft, and for this, it is necessary to establish an unmanned aircraft system traffic management (UTM). In order to establish the UTM, information on the minimum separation distance to prevent collisions with UAVs and buildings is required, and accordingly, information on the navigation performance of UAVs is required. In order to analyze the navigation performance of an UAV, total system error (TSE), which is the difference between the planned flight path and the actual location of the UAV, is required. If the collected data are insufficient and classification according to integrity, independence, and direction is not performed, accurate navigation performance is not derived. In this paper, propose a navigation performance analysis method of UAV that is derived TSE using flight data and modeled with normal distribution, analyze performance.

Structural Performance Evaluation of System Scaffolding for Elevator Installation Work (엘리베이터 설치 작업용 시스템 비계의 구조 성능 평가)

  • This study performed a structural performance evaluation of a system scaffolding for elevator installation work developed in previous studies. The structural performance was evaluated via a structural test conducted to apply the working load specified in the design standard. The deflection of the horizontal member and the stress of each member constituting the system scaffolding were measured. Consequently, the structural safety evaluation including structural behavior and required performance was performed using the deflection and stresses measured from the structural test. The structural test and safety evaluation results based on the heavy working load corresponding to the design load indicated that the deflection, which is the performance criterion of the horizontal member, did not exceed the allowable value. Further, each member's stress, which is a safety evaluation indicator, did not exceed the allowable strength for both horizontal and vertical members with bending behavior and fordable bracing with tensile behavior, while also satisfying the required safety factor. In addition, the results confirmed the safety against deformation, partial damage, and destruction owing to excessive and maximum load. Therefore, the system scaffolding developed in this study satisfies both the structural performance and safety required by the design standards; thus, it can be applied to elevator installation work sites.
