The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of average unit learning on the knowledge of the representative value of 5th grade elementary school students. In the information-oriented society, the ability to organize and summarize the data has become an essential resource. In the process of correctly analyzing statistical data and making reasonable decisions, the summary of the data plays an important role, and it is necessary to learn the concept of representative values in order to describe the center of the data in a series of numbers. For research, an informal knowledge type possessed by a fifth grade elementary school student with respect to a representative value before learning an average unit is examined and compared with the representative value after learning the average unit. A suggestion point for representative value guidance in school mathematics is provided while examining the change in knowledge with respect to the representative value. Seeing the informal types of elementary school students' representative values will help them learn how to formalize the concept of representative values in middle and high schools. It will give suggestions about the concept of representative values and the method of instruction that should be dealt with in elementary schools. The informal knowledge about the representative value can help with formal representative value that will be learned later. Therefore, This study's discussions on statistical learning of elementary school students are expected to present meaningful implications for statistical education.
Smoke emissions from light duty diesel vehicles were measured using light extinction method with the free acceleration test mode. The smoke emissions for each measurement cycle of the free acceleration method showed large variations according to driver's pedal pushing pattern. The smoke values for each measurement cycle initially increased and reach a peak value. Integration of the smoke emissions with time for each measurement cycle was performed to get a representative smoke value which was obtained by averaging the integrated results. Two kinds of integration time range were used. One is range over the whole measurement cycle of the free acceleration method. The other is only the acceleration range in the measurement cycle. Overall, variation of the representative smoke values obtained by the integration method was reduced comparing to the traditional representative smoke value which was obtained from a peak smoke value over the measurement cycle. Ten vehicles of the same model with 2.5 liter diesel engines, and seven vehicles of the same model with 2.7 liter diesel engines, were tested using the free acceleration test method.

With the increase in image detectors, concerns about the reliability of traffic information are increasing. In this paper, we propose a method to generate reliable traffic volume using analysis of the point detector data as a representative value. Therefore, targeting expressway, we analyzed the difference in traffic volume collected by loop and image detector, and verified statistically using t-test, and finally analyzed the error rate compare to the real traffic volume. Analysis revealed that there was a statistically difference the traffic date collected by the loop detector and the image detector, in the same period, the same time, respectively. In addition, the difference between the actual traffic volume and traffic that have been collected in a loop detector was the lowest Therefore, creating a traffic volume of representative value, we proposed a method to use loop detector than the average traffic volume collected by each detector. It shows that it is more important to use one high-quality data rather than various low-quality data to produce a representative value.
Recently, we extract the representative melody of the music and index the music to reduce searching time at the content-based music retrieval system. The existing study has used MIDI data to extract a representative melody but it has a weak point that can use only MIDI data. Therefore, this paper proposes a representative melody retrieval method that can be use at all audio file format and uses digital signal processing. First, we use Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and find the tempo and node for the representative melody retrieval. And we measure the frequency of high value that appears from PCM Data of each node. The point which the high value is gathering most is the starting point of a representative melody and an eight node from the starting point is a representative melody section of the audio data. To verity the performance of the method, we chose a thousand of the song and did the experiment to extract a representative melody from the song. In result, the accuracy of the extractive representative melody was 79.5% among the 737 songs which was found tempo.

First, this paper compute difference value between frames using the composed method of $X^2$ histogram and color histogram and the normalization. Next, cluster representative frame was decided by using the clustering for distance and the k-mean grouping. Finally, representative frame of group was decided by using the likelihood ratio. Proposed method can be known by experiment as outstanding of detection rather than other methods, due to computing of difference value, clustering and grouping, and detecting of representative frame.

The target pattern is introduced for practicing a balanced dietary menu planning, but Korean soup and stew, cooked with several kinds of materials, have a problem with food group assignment in the target pattern. This study thus set out to calculate the representative nutritional values of Korean soup and stew based on intake(by 2010 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, age group of 13~19) and preference(by select the 3 kinds of favorite soup and stew each). Total of 235 middle school students were participated by way of questionnaire, and data were analyzed. Representative energy value of vegetable soup and stew by intake were $65kca{\ell}$ and $116kca{\ell}$, respectively, which were very much different with the vegetable group representative energy value of $14kca{\ell}$ in target pattern. Representative energy value of meat fish egg legume soup and stew by intake were $149kca{\ell}$ and $211kca{\ell}$, respectively, which were very much different with the representative meat fish egg legume energy value of $94kca{\ell}$ in target pattern. As result, it is not proper to assign vegetable soup stew to vegetable food group and meat fish egg legume soup stew to meat fish egg legume food group. Representative energy values of soup and stew by preference were not much different except meat fish egg legume soup($149kca{\ell}$ by intake, $218kca{\ell}$ by preference). As conclusions, it maybe desirable to categorize soup and stew as independent food group. For more accurate energy adjustment in menu planning, devide soup and stew, and further divide to vegetable and meat fish egg legume groups may necessary.

The objective of this study is to propose methods for determining optimal representative value and the optimal size of historical data for reliable travel time forecasting. We selected values with the smallest mean of forecasting errors as the optimal representative value of travel time pattern data. The optimal size of historical data used was determined using the CVMSE(Cross Validated Mean Square Error) method. According to the results of applying the methods to point vehicle detection data of Korea Highway Corporation, the optimal representative value were analyzed to be median. Second, it was analyzed that 60 days' data is the optimal size of historical data usedfor travel time forecasting.
There has been much research focused on collaborative filtering technique in Recommender System. However, these studies have shown the First-Rater Problem and the Sparsity Problem. The main purpose of this Paper is to solve these Problems. In this Paper, we suggest the user's predicting preference method using Bayesian estimated value and the associative user clustering for the recalculation of preference. In addition to this method, to complement a shortcoming, which doesn't regard the attribution of item, we use Representative Attribute-Neighborhood method that is used for the prediction when we find the similar neighborhood through extracting the representative attribution, which most affect the preference. We improved the efficiency by using the associative user's clustering analysis in order to calculate the preference of specific item within the cluster item vector to the collaborative filtering algorithm. Besides, for the problem of the Sparsity and First-Rater, through using Association Rule Hypergraph Partitioning algorithm associative users are clustered according to the genre. New users are classified into one of these genres by Naive Bayes classifier. In addition, in order to get the similarity value between users belonged to the classified genre and new users, and this paper allows the different estimated value to item which user evaluated through Naive Bayes learning. As applying the preference granted the estimated value to Pearson correlation coefficient, it can make the higher accuracy because the errors that cause the missing value come less. We evaluate our method on a large collaborative filtering database of user rating and it significantly outperforms previous proposed method.
This study is an analysis on the focus of textbooks regarding the statistical chapters of "measures of representative(central tendency) and of the spread". Applying the summary-concept criteria of Juhyeon Nam(2007), 4 kinds of aspect of the chapter; (1) definition and its teleological validity of the measures of representative, (2) definition and practical value of the measures of spread (3) distributional form on the measures of representative and of spread (4) location and scale preservation or invariance of the measures of representative and of spread were observed. On the measures of representative, some definitions were insufficient to check the teleological validity of the measure. Most definitions of the measure of spread were based on the practical view points but no preparation for the future statistical inferences were found even by implication. Some books mention about the measures of representative and of spread for distributions, but we could not find any comments on the correspondence between the sample mean and the expectation of a distribution or population mean. However it is stimulant that some books check the validity of corresponding measures with the location and scale preservation or invariant property, that were not found in the previous curriculum.
In general, the estimation of optimum yield for the radial collector well is determined by the empirical equation or numerical modeling, in which hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer is a main influence factor. Hydraulic conductivities of 164 soil samples collected from boreholes and horizontal wells (average length: about 50 m) installed during well construction in the Anseong stream were drawn in two-dimensional map by the Kriging method and utilized in this study. Hydraulic conductivity analyses by Representative Elementary Count (REC) indicated the average hydraulic conductivity is similar to that of the pumping test when the number of samples reaches about 1,000, which correspond to 1,000 ㎡. Pumping test was also conducted at 1 pumping well and 13 observation wells to estimate hydraulic conductivities at each observation well. REC analysis indicated that the average value of hydraulic conductivity calculated from at least four observation wells is valid as a representative value. The overall result suggested that multiple observation wells or multiple pumping-observation well systems that are located within the range of horizontal wells should be utilized to properly estimate the representative hydraulic conductivity values and the yield of a radial collector well.
