Purpose : The purpose of this study was to examine the levels and influencing factors of the perceived stress and life-satisfaction among mothers of children with disability. Methods : 55 mothers were selected for this study and the self-reporting method to the structured questionnaire were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed with the frequency, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan test using SPSS 14.0 for window programs. Results : Firstly, the level of total perceived stress of the mothers of children with cerebral palsy was 44.28/75, and the average of the items of the perceived stress was 2.95/5. The highest level of subcategory of the perceived stress, 10.82/15, was in parent role stress, and the lowest level of subcategory of the perceived stress, 3.88/10, was in children developmental stress. There were statistically significant differences in the mother's level of stress according to their ages, employment, occupation, and daily activity time and sleeping time. Secondly, the level of life-satisfaction was 3.17/7, and statistically significant difference was found by the treatment cost. Conclusions : We suggest that these variables need to be considered when the stress intervention programs for the mothers of children with cerebral palsy are developed.
Different endophytic fungi isolated from Himalayan Yew plants were tested for their ability to produce taxol. The BAPT gene (C-13 phenylpropanoid side chain-CoA acetyl transferase) involved in the taxol biosynthetic pathway was used as a molecular marker to screen taxol-producing endophytic fungi. Taxol extracted from fungal strain TBPJ-B was identified by HPLC and MS analysis. Strain TBPJ-B was identified as Fusarium redolens based on the morphology and internal transcribed spacer region of nrDNA analysis. HPLC quantification of fungal taxol showed that F. redolens was capable of producing $66{\mu}g/l$ of taxol in fermentation broth. The antitumour activity of the fungal taxol was tested by potato disc tumor induction assay using Agrobacterium tumefaciens as the tumor induction agent. The present study results showed that PCR amplification of genes involved in taxol biosynthesis is an efficient and reliable method for prescreening taxol-producing fungi. We are reporting for the first time the production of taxol by F. redolens from Taxus baccata L. subsp. wallichiana (Zucc.) Pilger. This study offers important information and a new source for the production of the important anticancer drug taxol by endophytic fungus fermentation.

Results: The score for perception of patient safety culture of the general hospital nurses was 3.42, out of a possible 5 points, and the score for safety care activities was 3.90. There was a statistically significant positive relationship between the nurses' perception of patient safety culture and their safety care activities, Perception of patient safety culture, Supervisor/manager, communication and procedures, and frequency of accident reporting were factors that impacted significantly on safety nursing activity. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that patient safety cultural perception significantly affects the safety of nursing activities and thus systematic educational strategies to increase perception should be provided to increase the level of patient safety culture. Also, other specific methods that increase the level of patient safety culture should be considered.
Purpose:The purpose of this study was to examine the degree of joint pain, limitation of daily activities, and frequency of outpatient visits. Methods: This secondary analysis study used the data from the fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHNES). The data about general characteristics, prevalence and treatment of osteoarthritis, limitation of activities of daily living (ADL) and frequency of outpatient visits and hospitalization in 424 osteoarthritis patients over 50 years old were derived from the database. Data were analyzed with complex samples in SPSS ver. 20.0. Results: Among people with knee joint pain, 79.3% reported they had more than 4 out of 10 points of the degree of pain. Meanwhile, 97.3% of people with hip joint pain reported that they had more than 4 out of 10 points of the degree of pain. People reporting 10 out of 10 point of pain were 21.4% of those with knee joint pain and 25% of those with hip joint pain. The mean of the degree of knee joint pain was 6.35, and the mean of the degree of hip joint pain was 6.89 out of 10 points. About 50% of people with osteoarthritis visited an outpatient clinic within the last 2 weeks, and 27% had limitation of ADL. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop an integrated intervention program to improve quality of life in patients with osteoarthritis.
Global competitive pressures are asking industrial companies to find the best way to meet their customer's requirements, reduce the costs of products, and increase productivity. Quality improvement has been proposed and implemented as a primary means of achieving these purposes. The quality improvement usually includes a goal of reducing the costs due to poor quality. While these costs of poor quality (COPQ) are not known precisely, they are known to be very high. Also, they may be underestimated by the hidden costs due to non-value activities, such as potential lost sales, costs of redesign due to quality reasons, and extra manufacturing costs due to defects, etc. In any manufacturing or service operation, all actions and resource expenditures of a company should be focused on creating value for customers. Any activity or resource of not creating the value for customers could be regarded as waste, which consequently causes the COPQ. Some companies did use dashboards to understand and identify value added or non-value added activities in order to reduce or eliminate wastes. These dashboards must be properly designed to consider inherent differences in manufacturing or service operations among business organizations. In addition, a structured quality improvement program such as the Six Sigma must support these dashboards. In this paper, a case study of designing dashboards for evaluating and reporting the COPQ in business units is presented.

In the results of analyzing Korean corrective action for what are required to be improved according to EU listing Korea as yellow-card non-cooperating third countries against IUU fishing, in order to establish advanced fishery order, it is thought that the following additional improvements are required. (1) The introduction of integrated management system of fishing vessel sailing route, fishing activity, fish catch, and inshore fishing vessel must be considered. (2) It is necessary to establish a system to cross check catch transaction, catch landing, and fish catch report submitted by fishing vessel. (3) Catch transshipment approval system shall be introduced. And a system of reporting and checking catch transshipment at sea shall be reinforced. (4) Punishment shall be strengthened to the extent of making people to perceive that loss due to punishment is larger than profit made from illegal fishing. (5) It shall be so improved that more than a certain percentage of all vessels with fish and fish products caught in waters outside Korea's judicial waters shall be arbitrarily chosen and searched besides a case of being suspected to be IUU fishing. In conclusion, on being listed by EU as yellow-card non-cooperating third countries against IUU fishing, Korean fishery management system shall be generally reexamined, and it shall serve as an occasion to exterminate IUU fishing and to advance fishery management system.
Ginseng, the root of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer, is well-known oriental herbal medicine. The number of paper reporting the effects on its physiological, pharmacological, and behavioral effects has been increased every year, since ginsenosides isolated from ginseng are known to be biologically active components. This brief review summarizes some of new findings from recently published papers on ginsenosides or ginseng saponins. Therefore, this paper includes the various effects of ginsenosides on neuronal cell growths, on behavior of experimental animals, on enzyme activities, on the release and uptake of neurotransmitters, on neuronal cell excitability, on the motility of intestine, on antitumor activity, on cardiovascular system and metabolism. In spite of various effects of ginsenosides on various cells or organs, it is still to date impossible for one to clearly explain the exact mechanism on the action of ginsenosides. However, in this article I will discuss several papers providing possible explanations on the physiological and pharmacological actions including signal transudation pathway of ginsenosides. The elucidation of the exact mechanism of ginsenosides on cellular or molecular level will not only give us a chance to explain why people have used ginseng as an elixir of life for several thousands of year but also give us a crucial chance to apply ginseng to modern medicine.
