  • Slurry clay has much higher water content than liquid limit of clay and even if small loads apply, it suffers a great settlement. Accordingly it is very difficult to perform a general consolidation test about slurry clay because of high water content. In this study consolidation tests have been performed successfully using Rowe Cell Tester about 1 remolding clay and 3 slurry clays with a water content of 100%, 133% and 150%. From the test results compression index characteristics, secondary compression index characteristics and consolidation coefficient characteristics have been investigated about slurry clay and remolding clay. Also two kinds of theory, by Terzaghi theory and by Mikasa theory, has been used to calculate consolidation coefficients. Compared to the calculation results, they had a similar value of consolidation coefficient. However if Mikasa theory is applied in the field design, the period which reach to the required consolidation degree will be much reduced compared to the period by Terzaghi theory because the time coefficient T$\_$v/ by Mikasa theory is far smaller than T$\_$v/ by Terzaghi theory.

  • Many researches have been devoted to developing a model fur bridge scour analysis which can consider both of the erosive potential of flowing water and the relative ability of the soil to resist erosion. The scour rate apparatus that can quantify the erosion rate of the soil has been developed by virtue of the extensive efforts. The scour rate tests were performed on 3 types of the remolding clay samples using the scour rate apparatus. The erosion characteristics of the fine-grained soil samples according to the variation of the remolding loads are examined and the correlation between the soil properties and erosion rates is also analyzed. The results of the tests and analyses show that the soil properties, especially the dry unit weight and the shear strength of the soil have great influence on the erosion characteristics.

  • There has been growing interest and rapid development in transparent electrode films, which are flexible and light and used in mobile, simple information, and electronic devices, and based on recent advancements in nano technology, information technology, and display technology. In particular, studies on developing such films with both high conductivity and high transmittance of visible rays are highly in demand for commercialization. In this study, transparent electrode films were developed for IT using micro patterns that show sheet resistance less than 10 Ω/□, adhesive strength more than 98%, and light transmittance more than 90%. The results of applying a surface emission gradient minimization (Honey Comb) technology to the films was the verification of the sheet resistance, adhesive strength, and light transmittance satisfying the target level of this study through Imprinting and Remolding processes.

  • The installation of vertical drains by means of a mandrel causes significant remolding of the subsoil, especially in the immediate vicinity of the mandrel. Thus, a zone of smear will be developed with reduced permeability and increased compressibility. This paper is mainly concerned with a field study to investigate the effect of smear due to vertical drain installation. In the present study, a field smear test was conducted to assess the extent of the smear zone around the vertical drain. The extent of the smear zone around a vertical drain was evaluated from the CPT results. CPT test was carried out to some distance around the mandrel installation. The test results revealed that a smear zone was estimated to be 3.6~5.3 times of the mandrel diameter.

  • Dredged soil from sea has much higher water content than liquid limit of clay and even if small loads apply, it will suffer a great settlement. Therefore it is very difficult to perform a consolidation test with general consolidation apparatus because of high water content. In this study Rowe Cell Apparatus consolidation tests have been performed with 1 remolding clay of water content 56% and 4 slurry clays of a water content of 100%, 120%, 133% and 150%. From the test results the consolidation characteristics such as compression index, secondary compression index and consolidation coefficient have been investigated with a variation of water content of dredged soil. The equations to get consolidation constants such as a compression index, a consolidation coefficient have been proposed with the field water content.

  • This paper presents the mix composition and production method that was applied to an extruded Ductile Fiber Reinforced Cement Composite (DFRCC) panel, as well as the flexural performance, represented by deformation hardening behavior with multiple cracking. The effect of fiber distribution characteristics on the flexural behavior of the panel is also addressed. In order to demonstrate the fiber distribution effect, a series of experiments and analyses, including a sectional image analysis and micromechanical analysis, was performed. From the experimental and analysis results, it was found that the flexural behavior of the panel was highly affected by a slight variation in the mix composition. In terms of the average fiber orientation, the fiber distribution was found to be similar to that derived under the assumption of a two-dimensional random distribution, irrespective of the mix composition. In contrast, the probability density function for the fiber orientation was measured to vary depending on the mix composition.

  • This study investigates the quality control and the finishability improvement properties of durable marine concrete under construct in Geo-je Ka-duk fixed link project. Below $3.5\times10^{-12}m^2/s$ chloride migration coefficient and above 40MPa compressive strength are required for the caisson structure concrete. The quality control was performed from physical-chemical analysis of raw materials to concrete test. Also, the efficiency of vibration type and action interval were tested to remove the entrapped air on the faced to form. And kinds of form and remolding agent were also tested. This paper aim to enhance the practical use of high performance concrete to construction field.

  • The major factors that control the performance of reinforced soil structures is the interaction between the soil and the reinforcement. Thus it is necessary to obtain the accurate bond parameters to be used in the design of these structures. To evaluate the behavior of flyash + clay soil reinforced with a woven geotextile, 36 Unconsolidated-Undrained (UU) and 12 reinforced Consolidated-Undrainrained (CU) triaxial compression tests were conducted. The moisture content of soil during remolding, confining pressures and arrangement of geotextile layers were all varied so that the behavior of the sample could be examined. The stress strain patterns, drainage, modulus of deformation, effect of confinement pressures, effects of moisture content have been evaluated. The impact of moisture content in flyash + clay backfills on critical shear parameters was also studied to recommend placement moisture for compaction to MDD. The results indicate that geotextile reinforced flyash + clay backfill might be a viable alternative in reinforced soil structures if good-quality granular backfill material is not readily available.

  • The government announced the Housing Welfare Roadmap (November 2017), to expand the supply of public rental housing by reconstructing aged long-term public rental complexes. Also, remodeling projects for complexes with low business feasibility of reconstruction projects are recognized as an alternative to supplying public rental housing in urban area. This study analyzed influence factors by dividing them into project feasibility, architectural plan, urban & residential environment plan, and legal system groups in order to establish a plan for long-term public rental housing remodeling project. Futhermore, this work conducted the principal component analysis to get the principal component factors among the influence factors of each group, and the weight analysis to calculate weighting of them. In addition, major influence factors were derived by calculating the relative importance score (RIS) of each factor. Lastly this paper validated the major influence factors and applicability of the procedure to select 3 complexes that can be reviewed for remolding project among 33 long-term public rental housing complexes located in Seoul. The results of this study are expected to be useful when establishing a remodeling project plan for long-term public rental housing.

  • We have remolded marine clay sample collected along the vertical and horizontal directions and investigated the characteristics of the consolidation constants by SCT and CRSC methods. We have studied also on consolidation chracteristics and application for weathered granite soil using SCT and CRSC methods for undisturbed and disturbed samples. As the result, values of pre-consolidation stress, compression index, excessive pore pressure, pore water pressure ratio of the marine-clay were different due to different test methods(SCT and CRSC) and sampling directions(vortical and horizontal directions). Disturbed and undisturbed samples of the weathered granite soil have showed similar change aspect like marine clay during over-consolidatied and normally consolidatied stages.
