Starting as a poet, I learned about the sounds of words with David Abercrombie. Then, remembering my background in physics, I moved to studying acoustic phonetics and speech synthesis. From there I learned about psychology and how. to test perceptual theories. A meeting with a physiologist led to work on the use of the respiratory muscles in speech. Later I landed in Africa teaching English phonetics and learning about African languages. When I went to UCLA to set up a lab I was able to find bright students who helped make computer models of the vocal tract and taught me linguistic theory. And I was able to continue wandering around the world, describing the sounds of a wide range of languages.

사람은 음악에서의 선율을 악보의 기보법과 같이 음표의 높이와 음표의 길이가 조합된 형태로서 기억하는 것이 아니라, 전반적인 음표간의 높낮이의 흐름과 음표 사이의 상대적인 지속시간으로 구성된 음조 곡선 형태로 기억한다. 이와 같은 선율의 기억 방식으로 인해 기존 음악 검색 시스템과 같이 건반을 이용한 주선율 입력이나 악보에 기보된 형태로 음악 검색의 질의를 이용하는 방법을 그대로 적용하기 어려운 점이 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 사용자의 허밍을 질의로 사용하는 음악 검색 시스템에서의 고려 대상들과 기존에 연구된 허밍 질의 기반의 음악 검색 시스템을 살펴본다. 또한 사람이 선율을 기억하는 방식인 상대적인 음표 간 높낮이와 음표 지속 시간을 이용하여 음악 내에 특징 정보를 추출하고 이를 기반으로 허밍 질의와 단음과의 유사도 계산 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 유사도 계산 알고리즘은 선율내의 음높이 차만 가지고 선율의 유사도를 비교하는 경우 발생할 수 있는 문제를 연속된 음간에 길이 차이를 이용하여 해결하였다.

This paper provides the meaning of sacred places and pilgrimages in Daesoonjinrihoe, the most representative of the new religions in Korea. Daesoonjinrihoe stipulates Dojang(道場, it means temple complex) as the sacred places, which presently functions as the center of their religious faith. Also, The Daesoonjinrihoe devotees worship 15 deities at a sacred place, Yeongdae(靈臺). By seeing meanings of sacred places and pilgrimage in Daesoonjinrihoe, This article focuses on the process of the sacrificial rite of Daesoonjinrihoe related to the importance of religious ritual or place of faith and sacred places as pilgrimage sites. At this time, I explain the properties of sacrificial rite of it. The sacrificial rite of Daesoonjinrihoe, one of its major rites, is performed at both regular and irregular intervals. It is performed by either an individual or a group at a fixed time and place. The study of sacred places should focus not only artificial structures such as buildings but also the meanings given to them and the mechanism that created these meanings. Pilgrimage is journey undertaken by person who consider their destination sacred. By seeing meaning of pilgrimage, this paper focus on Daesoonjinrihoe' role in making a place pilgrimage sites and pilgrimage functions. The reason I focus on sacred places and pilgrimage in Daesoonjinrihoe is that these sacred places reflect people's attempt to invent religious memory and identity. Thus, I elucidate the role that Daesoonjinrihoe's sacred places and pilgrimage plays in remembering religious memory. I examine the messages that Daesoonjinrihoe's sacred places intend to convey to the followers through the created sacred places and pilgrimage. Sacred places are significant because it reflect important symbolic features of religion. Sacred places and pilgrimage are vehicles for remembering the religious memory and reinforcing various memories. Finally, Handing down of our valuable Daesoonjinrihoe's cultural heritage is our duty. So it is necessary to make an effort to conserve Daesoonjinrihoe's cultural heritage such as sacred places and concentration upon our interest continuously.

본 연구는 자연스런 스트레스 반응이 유발되는 소아 치과 진료를 경험한 4-10세 아동 63명을 대상으로 스트레스와 아동 회상 기억과의 관계성 검증 및 아동 회상 기억에 다양한 개인차 변인들이- 스트레스 대처 전략 유형, 사건에 대한 부모의 준비성 정도, 사건 관련 사전 경험의 특성- 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 전반적으로 본 연구는 스트레스 수준과 아동의 기억 수행 간에 부적 상관을 보여 관련 국외의 선행 연구들과 일치된 방향성을 보였다. 보다 흥미로운 결과는 스트레스적 경험에 대한 아동 회상의 정확성이 아동의 스트레스 대처 전략 유형, 사건과 관련된 아동의 사전 경험들의 질적 특성, 그리고 관련 사건에 대한 부모의 준비성 정도 등에 의해 직접적인 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 성학대, 신체 폭력과 같은 범죄 사건과 관련된 아동 회상 진술의 신뢰성 평가시 스트레스 사건에 반응하는 아동의 개인차 및 부모와의 애착 수준 등이 복합적으로 고려되어야 함을 함의한다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 스트레스 수준과 아동 회상 기억의 관계성에 대해 학문적, 임상적, 법정 맥락에서 다각적으로 논의해 보고자 하였다.

Ecomuseum has changed for general museums with a strong historical connotation, and more identity museums, which reminds one of their purposes of providing evidence, conserving and remembering. Small museums playa very important social role and have a level of importance which should do something to improve cultural policy. The "ecomuseum" phenomenon, in other words this spontaneous birth of numerous museums in local communities, this desire to retrace one's history and fix it in one's mind, has only one precedent in Italy. This precedent involved the opening of numerous museums dedicated to the "Risorgimento" and "Patriotic History", which, in the closing decades of the 19th century, were founded on political input all over the country, in big towns and little villages alike. Searching amidst the exhibits for the memory of a national identity and they are proof that local communities are filled with an unstoppable need to know about their roots and to reassess their own identities.

This paper tries to follow Toni Morrison's postcolonial courses in her novels. In The Bluest Eye, Morrison examines the situation in which the white's values are the standard for the whole society through two little black girls, Pecola and Claudia. In Song of Solomon she recommends emulating Pilate's love and good attitude towards tradition to shape a positive identity for Afro-Americans, which Milkman comes to accept. In Tar Baby, Morrison suggests that Son's and Jadine's ideas, traditional and modern, should be combined. In Beloved, Morrison illustrates one of the ways in which all blacks can escape from their own trauma through Sethe's process of finding her self-worth. In Paradise Morrison shows that the real de-colonial way to overcome the effects of colonization is to create a new paradigm in which everyone is respected regardless of race. In her works, Morrison insists that by remembering and regretting slavery in America, people can overcome its aftereffects and trauma. Racial oppression still exists today, so Morrison will continue her beautiful, powerful and eye-opening work.

Remembering a meaning of fashion started in the early 20C, Paul Poiret is one of the most important designer. If so, what does his achievements and assessment his costume design have to be？ That is the spirit of his design. Through the creation of the new style which is totally different from a period before, introduction of the vivid color, the new line and the enthusiasm of the fashion business, he showed the roll and the possibility of the modern designer. In Poiret's women's costume, harmonious beauty of women could be discovered in beautiful color which was not used in the 19th and elegance line. Furthermore, in the creation of the color and style, he got a strong influence by the art of early 20C's Europe. This was an opportunity that todays fashion has treated as a part of the or her art, and many modern designers are contacting with the art. The excellent ability in the fashion business has the composite as total fashion. Fashion business including perfumes, cosmetics furnitures, accessories is a model for most designers who follows him.

This study analyzed the process of information service and its factors in the cognitive viewpoint. And developed a conceptual model to help in developing future information systems and services. The results of this study were summarized as follows : 1) The paradigm of information user study is changing from the system-centered to the user-centered one. 2) The researchers describe the user's internal cognitive process as the starting point of the information service. 3) The user's personal cognitive process influence the process of the information service over. And the focus is a microscopic one including the factors of the perception and recognition of the stimulus, remembering and searching information, reasoning the rules, recognition of the patterns, formalization of the concepts, etc. 4) The information librarian performs the role as a knowledge/ information system interface, and his knowledge structure reflects the organization of that knowledge/information system. 5) The information librarians can perform their role as information specialists actively and offensively. And the performance of the librarians can be measured on the scales of the su n.0, pplying capability of relevant information and the client satisfaction.

This paper introduces a Web site login system that uses user's native voice to improve the bother of remembering the ID and password in order to login the Web site. The DTW method that applies fuzzy inference is used as the speaker recognition algorithm. We get the ACC(Average Cepstrum Coefficient) membership function by each degree, by using the LPC that models the vocal chords, to block the recorded voice that is problem for the speaker recognition. We infer the existence of the recorded voice by setting on the basis of the number of zeros that is the value of the ACC membership function, and on the basis of the average value of the ACC membership function. We experiment the six Web sites for the six subjects and get the result that protects the recorded voice about 98% that is recorded by the digital recorder.

The human brain has the most powerful capabilities in thinking, interpreting, remembering, and problem-solving. Artificial neural network is appeared by scientists who have tried to simulate such a human brain. The artificial neural network has the capability of learning, massive parallelism capability and robustness for disturbance which are necessary for power system application. In this paper, We reviewed the typical topologies and learning algorithms of artifical neural networks which can be used for pattern classification. And we surveyed for the applications of artifical neural network to the power system.
