계면활성제와 동전기 기술을 이용한 오염토양정화에서 APG사용의 타당성에 관한 연구

  • Surfactant-enhanced electrokinetic remediation is an emerging technology that can effectively remove hydrocarbons from low-permeability soils. In this study, the electrokinetic remediation using APG(alkyl polyglucoside) was conducted for the removal of phenanthrene from kaolinite. APG, which was an environmentally compatible and non-toxic surfactant, was used at concentrations of 5, 15, and 30g/1 to enhance the solubility of phenanthrene. Also an electrolyte solution was used for considering a relation between electrical potential gradient and removal efficiency of phenanthrene. When the electrolyte solution was used, it represented low electrical potential gradient, but the removal efficiency was lower than that of no electrolyte system. Removal efficiency of phenanthrene in EK process using surfactant solution depended on concentration of surfactant. Because surfactant increased the solubility and the mobility of phenanthrene, when surfactant concentration was high, high removal efficiency was observed.

VOCs 처리를 위한 미생물의 토양복원화 특성 (The Characteristics of Bioremediation for VOCs in Soil Column)

  • The study was carried out to evaluate the characteristics of biodegradation by Pseudomonas putida G7 in soil column. The reactor system was used to investigate mass transfer of VOCs as Toluene in a column of unsaturated soil. Determination of the fate of VOCs in unsaturated soil is necessary to evaluate the feasibility of natural attenuation as a VOCs remediation strategy. The objective of this study was to develop a mechanistically based mathematical model that would consider the interdependence of VOC transport, microbial activity, and sorptive interactions in a moist, unsaturated soil. Because the focus of the model was on description of natural attenuation, the advective VOCs transport that is induced in engineered remediation processes such as vapor extraction was not considered. It can be concluded that the coefficient for gas liquid mass-transfer was found to be a key parameter controlling the ability of bacteria to VOCs. Finally, it appeared that bioremediation technology of VOCs which are difficult to be decomposed by chemical methods.

토양에 따른 유기오염물질의 흡.탈착특성

  • Characteristics of sorption and desorption in soils affect chemical fate, soil-remediation time, and selection of remediation technology. The sorption and desorption behavior of atrazine and naphthalene on soils was studied. Six soils collected at Gwangju area were used as sorbents and the organic matter contents ranged from 1.28 to 5.21%. Sorption and desorption experiments were conducted and sorption distribution coefficients(Kd) of atrazine and naphthalene were nearly linear$(R^2=0.93{\sim}0.97)$. Desorption parameters were evaluated using three site desorption model included equilibrium, nonequilibrium and nondesorption sites. Non-desorbable site fraction for atrazine was evaluated, but for naphthalene it was not enumerated during the experimental period. Through the series dilution desorption experiments, non-desorpbable sites were observed for both chemicals.

폐 광산 지역 중금속 오염 토양의 석회안정화 적용 시 용출특성 (A Leaching Characteristics on Lime Stabilization of Heavy Metal Contaminated Soil in a Waste Mine Area)

  • Pozzolanic-based stabilization/solidification (S/S) is an effective and economic remediation technology to immobilize heavy metals in contaminated soils. In this study, quick lime (CaO) was used to immobilize cadmium and zinc present in waste mine contaminated clayey sand soils. Addition of 5% quicklime to the contaminated soils effectively reduced heavy metal leachability after 2 bed volume operation below the drinking water regulatory limits. Lime addition was revealed to increase the immobilization for all heavy metals in tested pH ranges, so it could be an optimal choice for short-term remediation of heavy metal contaminated soil. The mass balances for these column tests show metal reduction of 92% for Cd and 87% for Zn of total resolved mass in case of 5% lime application.

방사성오염토양 제염을 위한 동전기세정장치 개발 (Development of Electrokinetic-Flushing Equipment for a Remediation of Soil Contaminated with Radionuclides)

  • 투수성이 높은 토양에 대한 동전기세정 제염의 영향을 평가했다. 실험토양은 많은 모래를 함유하여 수리전도도가 높은 연구 원자로 주변부지로부터 채취했다. 세정용액의 방출속도는 제염시간 경과와 함께 감소했다. 시트릭산을 사용했을 때, 세정용액의 방출속도는 78.7 ml/day로 가장 빨랐다. 세정용액으로 초산을 사용하였을 때, 토양으로부터 코발트와 세슘의 제거효율은 가장 높은 값인 95.2%와 84.2%를 나타냈다. 동전기제염 시 발생된 토양 폐액부피는 토양세척제염시보다 1/20으로 감소했다. 반면에 동전기세정방법은 토양으로부터 코발트와 세슘 제거효율을 동전기방법 보다 각각 6%와 2%로 향상시켰다. 그러므로 동전기세정방법은 투수성이 높은 토양제염 시 좀 더 효과적이다.

미국 원전의 심층토양 제염사례 연구 (Study on the Experiences of Subsurface Soil Remediation at Commercial Nuclear Power Plants in the United States)

  • 2017년 고리 1호기 영구정지 이후 규제기관과 원전운영자는 2031년으로 예정된 부지 제염 및 복원을 수행하기 위해 사전준비 작업을 진행해오고 있다. 적절한 계획 수립 및 효과적인 규제활동을 위해서 규제지침 개발과 기술적 근거수립이 무엇보다 선행되어야 한다. 국내에선 연구용 원자로 해체경험이 있지만 상업용 원전은 없기 때문에 해외 해체 선도국의 부지복원사례연구를 통해 토양 제염과 관련한 기술사항 및 규제기준에 대한 정보를 제공한다면 고리 1호기 복원계획 및 규제기준 수립에 효과적일 것이다. 미국은 상업용 원전에 대한 다양한 해체경험을 축적해 왔으며 RESRAD 프로그램 및 MARSSIM 절차와 같은 체계를 개발 적용하여 오염된 부지의 조사, 제염, 복원 및 해제를 통합적으로 수행하고 있다. 이 논문에서는 미국의 5개 상업용 원전(해체완료 4개, 지연해체 1개)을 대상으로 심층 토양오염에 대한 부지복원 사례연구를 수행하였다. 심층토양의 경우 표층토양과 달리 미국에서도 정형화된 평가방법론이 아직 정립되어 있지 않았고, 오염평가시 지하수 영향을 고려해야 하는 특성이 있음이 확인되었다. 따라서 향후 고리 1호기 부지복원 전략수립 및 규제지침 개발에 고려할 만한 제안사항을 도출하고자 기술 및 규제 관점에서 심층토양에 대한 오염평가, 제염기준 수립, 제염작업 수행 및 결과 검증까지 단계별 주요사례를 정리하고, 미국 해체사업자가 적용한 심층토양 평가방법과 규제기관과 해체사업자 간에 논의된 주요 쟁점사항을 분석하여 시사점을 도출하였다.

  • The remediation for contaminated soil and groundwater in contaminated site and waste site has to be compact and economic in maintaining and operating the system. In this study, the atomized slag was tested if they are an effective reactive material in permeable reactive barrier This novel reactive system technology was applied to the treatment of leachate from unplanned waste landfill. The system was optimized and developed to be commercialized.
